When Jason called Walmart the next day pretending to be Zebb: it’s 100 percent clear he did something. The detectives failed miserably. I’ve always said detectives are not very bright. It’s infuriating how often they screw up
You people that think you know everything cuz u watched a video and “figured it out” are hilarious - it’s like you have no concept that having a good reason to think someone is guilty doesn’t mean you can prove it. As if when a detective starts working the case all the evidence is presented like they’re watching this documentary.
I think sometimes they know in their gut the person is guilty but don’t have enough legal evidence to do anything about it. I’d blame the higher ups more than the detectives
@@WideAwakeHuman I agree they need the evidence to make the case. But at the same time cops brush off missing person cases all the time and think they will all just reappear, they don't take a lot of these cases seriously until it is to late.

Please list the things that should have been done or not done by the police and prosecutor? What did they have to work with? It appears to be very little, especially in a case with no body to prove murder. You must have a solid case to charge someone with a crime. If the jury acquits the defendant - and it only takes a single juror to do so - then the perpetrator walks free for the rest of their life with no worry of future prosecution.

It's total bs that the uncle did it. Jason waited until his uncle dies to confess that stupid story. I think Jason did it alone and maybe his uncle helped him dispose of the remains. It's just awful what he put that family through for 22 years, and then proceeds to wipe out another entire family. Sick.

Still, as bizarre as it was, I can't believe it took over 20 years to solve Zebb Quinn's murder. That's a painfully long time for a family to sit waiting for answers.
I also want to know what “died of complications of COPD” means… That he “stopped breathing” in his sleep and no one questioned it because he had a history of COPD? Hmmm… The other guy overdosed and it wasn’t questioned because he had a history of drug problems? Dude killed at least 6 people and still behaves like it never happened. You don’t just accidentally run over two adult people and kill them by accident.
If Jason just said, "I'm guilty, and I want to give his family some answers and some closure. I shot Zeb for this reason and I'm sorry.". That might count for something, but coming forward to tell this self-serving version of "the truth" is worse than staying silent.

They have to have enough evidence to prove it was Owens. It's obvious they believed he was the one who made Zebb "disappear," but they can't just put him in jail based on suspicion, alone. Unfortunately, Owens was really good at hiding evidence of Zebb's murder. Thankfully he wasn't so good at it the next time. Sadly, it was at the expense of a beautiful family. 😢😢😢
You would have though so but Casey Anthony got off and OJ Simpson. You cant recharge once you have a not guilty so I think they could have risked getting a not guilty had they gone ahead. The few things they had just take a good Defence Lawyer to lay the seed from reasonable doubt
I was curious after seeing the unfortunate case in Disappeared on ID channel. It was obvious who did it with the phone call. This is one of those cases that sticks with you long after you see it. That poor family of Zebb had to suffer for these two monsters who belong below hell. I hope where they go, they look up and can see hell. I'm heartbroken of the injustice. That police department should of solved this right when it happened. Thank you for making this. Seems no one else could do this case justice like done here. Very well done, better than a Dateline or 20/20. Whoever produced this and directed and edited it deserve a huge hug cause it was done so well, rich in facts, and don't leave you hanging. Thank you, and Rest In Peace Zebb. You were a good dude who had their whole life ahead of him.
"It was obvious who did it with the phone call." No it wasn't. If Owen hadn't confessed you wouldn't have known he was responsible. "That police department should of solved this right when it happened." The fact that you don't understand how you can't solve a crime with no evidence is your own failing.
I hate when the DA and other politicians obfuscate and avoid giving answers we deserve. They vomit such BS just to cover themselves. Great investigative journalism!
You and those upvoting your comment do not understand the law and the fact that if a prosecutor says the wrong thing at the wrong time the entire case can be summarily dismissed. Sure, people play politics and protect themselves. D.A.s are elected officials. However, they are also painfully aware how fragile a case can be, especially a murder case with little or no tangible evidence, so it is far better to err on the side of caution and say little or nothing to the public than to see the accused go free just because you said something out of turn and prejudiced the case.
Both Jason’s uncle Gene & Misty’s boyfriend are dead & now he comes out with a story to put ALL the blame on them! Not saying uncle Gene was a decent guy & not much known about Misty’s boyfriend but it’s all to convenient now! The fact that guy brutally murdered neighbors he claims to “love” and they were like family…then to chop them up & burn them up in a house…yeah, I can’t believe a word that guy says!! May he rot in prison, live a miserable life & end up under the prison!! May Zebb & the Codd’s rest in peace!! Such a shame!!
How is it that I knew that Jason was a bad dude just 10 minutes into this video, I’m not a detective, a 5 year old could have figured this one out, law enforcement failed dramatically on this one, costing the Cods their lives.
I was thinking the same thing all along, as well. The only thing I couldn't follow was the end. How and why is everyone content with what Jason said? None of that made any sense to me no matter how many times I watched it. There's no doubt in my mind that he's responsible for all those deaths, and that it was just him, and him alone. And I don't buy for one second that he accidentally ran them over. I don't know why they accepted it either! There's absolutely no evidence supporting that, however there's plenty of evidence to support that he broke into their house and stole a bunch of their stuff! I just can't make it make sense.
Lol because you know you’re watching a true crime story. That plays a huge role. They frame what you see and how you see it. Real life is not so direct all the time
@@whosaidthat9265I swear it’s like people think being a detective is like watching a documentary where all the evidence is presented in this perfect timelines. The Codds would still be alive if the police would have looked at the timeline from the start. All the evidence pointed to Jason. The last person with Zebb, the injuries Jason had even that footage was suspect with Jason hiding his face. The other people were red herrings.
@lisafredrick7655 that’s why we need Dexter. Our judicial system fails us, Dexter has a code and follow his code and apply it to those our system fails us.
"All the evidence pointed to Jason. The last person with Zebb, the injuries Jason had even that footage was suspect with Jason hiding his face." None of those prove murder.
Does she (defense atty) not hear how ridiculous and selfish she sound? That man took 3 lives away from this earth and she says he’s remorseful … it’s so easy to see that he wasn’t at all😮😢
She is legally required to zealously defend her client and promote his rights and interests in all matters. To do be found to be doing less can lead to disbarment. The prosecutor’s job is to zealously seek a guilty verdict for the charges before the court using every legal means at her disposal. If the defense attorney doesn’t do her job then the prosecution can easily railroad someone into prison, creating a kangaroo court system.
I no more believe the uncle killed zebb than I do Jason "accidentally" ran over two people. That bucket don't hold water 🙄 At least he is behind bars and can't hurt anyone else .
So they actually believe Jason...., it was an accident and the uncle did it. Seems convenient he waited until the uncle died to tell he did it. And that woman that dated him, laughing as she tells twisted as it gets, did they ever go to the spot where he supposedly burned zebbs body, smh RIP ZEB
It's so infuriating! I hate how the interviewer of this show just takes Jason's word for everything. Like you said, how convenient that he only felt compelled to "tell the truth" once those whom he accused were all dead. The fact they Gene had a bitter ex definitely did NOT convince me that he had anything to do with the murder of a guy who associated with his estranged nephew. Anyone with a brain would find that hard to believe.

Detectives and prosecutors should get some jail time for allowing this to go unsolved for so many year, it was so obvious from the beginning, that Jason and family were apart of it.
What evidence did they have though linking them to the crime?? At the time there was not any way to confirm DNA of any kind. They could only rule people out, not detect who it was. There wasn’t any eyewitnesses either. When you don’t have the evidence to prosecute, you can’t arrest. So many arm chair detectives act more like the old “keystone cops” & think they know who did it so that person is 100% guilty & the reason so many innocent people are being released in the past 5 years over this exact thinking. The same arm chair detectives who still try to run the SM crime channels pretending they know who it was & haven’t seen a shred of evidence, not any, but that person is guilty. Completely ridiculous.
the circumstantial evidence is overwhelming, the Jason family was caught lying to police, e third-degree felony punishable up to 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Why did Jason kill his neighbors? Was it over neighborhood florals property blah blah blah or was it financially motivated? If I had to guess about a motive why Gene would kill Zeb, he and Jason we're close, maybe it was because Zeb had a crush on his girlfriend.

Our justice system is a prison system they don't care about getting the right the guy they only care about getting a body to put into our slave jail system. Most defense attorneys and MANY prosecutors to be sent to prison? What about those that don't lie? Or are you just making generalizations? Are you lying? Do you contend that a defense attorney is more likely to lie to the court than a prosecutor?
@@wmickinley Obviously defense attorneys are more likely to lie in court than prosecuting attorneys. I kind of hope you're being disingenuous by asking, but perhaps I'm giving you too much credit. Stop and think for a minute... The vast majority of criminal cases that go to trial result in the defendant being convicted. Although the precise conviction rate for the US isn't easy to find, since 2010, the conviction rate has ranged from 78% - 93%. Suffice to say, the vast majority of criminal defendants are found guilty by juries of their peers. So who's more likely to lie in court, the attorney tasked with defending criminals or the attorney tasked with prosecuting criminals? When all the evidence says you're guilty, the attorney whose goal is to convince the jury to follow the facts and evidence doesn't need to lie... unlike the attorney whose goal is to convince the jury to reject all available evidence.
Poor Zebb😢😢😢😢 As a mom of all boys and one who is super sweet like this - breaks my heart !! Jason is evil pos and I truly hope he gets what’s coming to him!
I don’t believe the uncle was even involved , Jason is the cold blooded murderer, he used his uncle to take the fall because he was dead and could not prove his innocence. Why would his uncle tell police upon finding out Jason killed the couple - that maybe that’s what happened to Zebb? If he was involved in any way why would he want to bring it up after all those years? I think Jason committed the murders but I think Misty and her boyfriend had some type involvement.
So…. They don’t even know for sure if it was lipstick, marker, paint or crayon?! After all these years? If it were lipstick I’d assume there’s a good possibility that DNA would be mixed in with the lipstick 💄 did they not swab it? Did they didn’t take the hotel key card to every hotel within 100 miles radius to find which it belongs to? Or just email a picture of the key card to each one to see if it belongs to any. Did they even check for fingerprints or dna on the car’s steering wheel or door knobs? I could go on and on! SMH 🤦🏼♀️
That news clip was recorded just prior to them making a determination on all/most of those things. It was lipstick, as Quinn also stated towards the end.
What a shame what really happened to Zebb will never be told .I just don't see how anybody could believe anything that comes out of Jason Owens mouth . RIP Zebb & Mr. & mrs. Codd .
Sometimes the smallest bit of evidence tells the biggest story. Why would Jason Owens call Zebb's job and say he wasn't coming in to work unless he knew he wasn't coming in to work. They have to know that Jason killed Zebb. Barney Fife could have figured that out. So sad for Zebb's family.
“Knowing” someone did a crime is a long way from proving it - cops have “known” someone was guilty a million times just to find out they weren’t actually guilty, that’s why we make them prove it. People think it’s so easy lol
no shit .. they knew but without evidence & a body then there’s not much they can do or charge that person… damn ur ignorant if u think detectives are seriously that stupid
Hey now.....Barney Fife was a great deputy, as long as his sidekick Andy was there to figure it out for him first. LOL But I agree with you about Zebb's work. The Walmart employee broke this case!! WOW!! Not many people would have thought to do that. She is amazing!! I don't really think that Jason expects anyone to believe his story about Zebb or the couple that he murdered. He is full of it. What happened to the puppy that was in the car?? Was it dead? They can't just put that in the story in the very beginning and then not mention it again.

That's really the worst part of it all, that beautiful happy innocent couple, that harmless infatuated kid, destroyed for no real reason by evil sub humans who were uncontrollably envious? How sick.
Owens knew exactly why that car was at little pigs, Zebs mom and sister worked at Mission,(his sister was my nurse when I had my middle child) so I feel like he wanted to mess with them in a sick way.
What significance would having the car be found at at Little Pigs?!? And what connection does that have to the hospital where Zebb’s mom and sister worked?!? Also, what about the dog in the car?!? They mention it briefly at the beginning, but never follow up on it!! If the car was missing for two weeks, but the dog was found alive in the car at Little Pigs, then the dog wouldn’t have been in there for two weeks. The dog would have been put in the car when they dropped the car off at Little Pigs during the timeline of after 9p to the morning (I can’t remember what time they had listed in the morning). What was the significance of the dog?? Did anyone recognize it?!? What about the lips on the back of the car?!? It looked like it was drawn by a girl and in lipstick. Doesn’t really seem like something Gene would do, like Owens was claiming. Did they even ask Owens about the dog in the car?!? What about the call Zebb made from 7-11?!? Was that call traced?!? Who did he call and who did he speak to?! Someone in another comment said that this documentary didn’t bring up the fact that the page was traced back to his aunts house (not sure if they mean Zebb’s aunt or Owens aunt??), where Weasley and Misty were at the time. Indicating it was them who paged Zebb. I don’t know if that’s accurate or not, just what someone else said. If it’s true, then I want to know if law enforcement traced the 7-11 call and if that went back to the aunts house (either Zebb’s or Owens) to where Misty and Weasley were and if Misty and Weasley were interrogated about the page and the call, what was said, it plans were made, why Zebb seemed so excited and happy, etc?!? If it was Misty paging him and who he spoke to on the 7-11 call, this could back up the theory that he was going to meet her and when he did, he got killed. Whether it was by Owens himself, Gene or even Weasley. I’m also interested in the fact that a couple had seen Zebb’s car driving around on a road during the 2 week period it was missing. That they observed a young woman w long curly hair driving the car and the composite sketch that the couple said wasn’t quite right, looked a hell of a lot like Misty! When the car was found by law enforcement, the front seat was all the way forward, as though someone shorter, like a woman, was driving it! There’s a lot of important details here that seem to be completely ignored, not questioned and just left out or barely mentioned, but never followed through on! Do you know of any good articles that go over this case w more of a fine tooth comb, going over all of the mysterious info and details in full?!? Or any documentaries or crime shows?!? I know that if you link them in a comment, your comment may not post bc of RU-vid. But, if you just give me the titles or any articles and the platform they’re on, or the names of any documentaries or crime shows, I’ll just search for them myself. I definitely want to heavily dig into this case and do a super deep dive. This just all seems very off and as though there are way too many questions not answered!!
@@twinkletoes6290 Mission is literally right behind Little Pigs, whoever put it there wanted his family to see it. They didn't put it at the hospital probably because of cameras. If he was killed in bent creek, then it's 20/30 minutes away from little pigs, depending on traffic, and there would be no other logical reason why it would be there. WLOS, Citizen times newspaper, etc covered it. I think there's a few crime shows that did a story on it as well.
@@twinkletoes6290 You have brought up some valid questions, some of which I have thought of too. You should pm them to the makers of this documentary and maybe they will try to answer them in a part 2 of it.
I was wondering if the puppy was fed recently or if it was dehydrated and starving after two weeks. The fact Jason called in pretending to be Zebb and the other people dead sure points to Jason for sure.
Excellent documentary! I think that we all know who actually murdered Zebb, and he is sitting in prison for the rest of his life. I think that his Uncle Gene helped him to cover it up, and I think Uncle Gene also set Zebb's mobile home on fire after he had been arrested for the murders of the Codd family in order to destroy evidence for him. Regardless, there is a great young man, Zebb, and a beautiful young couple and their unborn baby, who lost their lives, which is absolutely horrific and sad.
I'd expect officers to be far better trained, or is it just in Carolina? Really messy, so many loose ends and so long drawn out. Not even a mention of Zebb's alleged infatuated behaviour that triggered the whole thing. Why were the Dodds murdered? That was really insane. Sick.
So Jason killed him? Alone or with help? Why? He set it up in advance. This reeks of premeditation. He might have had Zebb bring money for the car and held him up for it. If so, why? What did he need that money for so desperately? If it wasn’t money what about a girl? What about Misty? What girl was Jason with? It might not be too late to find the motive but, if they’d looked for whatever Jason was obsessive over- drugs, a debt, gambling or a girl are the most likely - they’d have found the reason why and they’d have found someone else to bring in and make them give stories about where they were when Zebb was missing and the day his car was found.
His mama has changed throughout the years but you can see just how kind-hearted and just broken hearted his poor mother is. I give LE credit that they did all that research on a cold case. I mean they dropped the ball in the beginning but looks like they put a lot of work into the case years later.
The female defense attorney backing up Jason's lies when it was no longer necessary is repulsive too. Some people without conscience commit heinous crimes, and other some such people become lawyers
It's crazy to me that cops didn't find Jebb's car until it was parked where the killer wanted it to be found. I'm also shocked they couldn't trace the communications that night--it was 2000, Jebb was contacted on his pager & used the payphone to call someone. The Walmart coworker who *69'd the phonecall claiming to be from Jebb & traced it back to Jason's workplace did better detective work than the cops.
I think the girlfriend set the events in motion, calling him. Jason ducking from the convenience store camera proves that he was in on it. The girl’s boyfriend was in on it as well. It took the three of them, pushing each other. But I think Jason did the shooting and burning of the body.
I have been following this case since the beginning. On subreddit of their town, I had posted a couple of times. Most of the local people there thought of Jason as a dimwit, and they believed he couldn't pull off something complicated like this by himself. And this documentary doesn't cover the page Zebb received. It's crucial. It was sent from his grandmother, who apparently was having dinner with Misty's mother, Misty, and Wesley.
How ironic that he is implicating someone who can't defend themselves. I don't believe a thing he says . A lot of killers in this family .Did he ever explain his wounds that night and his so called two wrecks. He is trying to make himself look good after killing the Codds.A lot of body burners in this family also . I think Jason Owens killed Zeb Quinn for the money he had on him .He will never tell exactly where Zebb's remains are .
Why did the epilogue bother stating that Misty has never been charged w/anything, I wonder. So, she sent him a text message saying to meet her at the site where he'd be killed, only to stand him up? They could have put her up to that without telling her any details.
@@quickchris10 What I don't understand is why didn't Owens reveal this when these people were alive so they could be prosecuted.Unaliving people and burning bodies seems to be Owens mo. It doesn't seem likely that two members of the same family would do the same thing. Possible but not probable. Considering all the falsehoods Owens has told it's hard to believe anything he says .
@@quickchris10what do you not understand? It's aggressively self-explanatory. She wasn't the only one mentioned in that "epilogue" either. There were two others mentioned along with Misty, Wesley Smith and Gene Owens. Why single her out? After what the other two had implicated against them you single her out over an alleged text msg? Lol wow. For LE to say they weren't suspects means they did some level of investigating, to snuff out any potential role they might've played in Zebb's disappearance. Again, self-explanatory. How well of an investigation that was we'll never know for sure. Nevertheless, Misty (along with the two others you conveniently left out) were legally cleared as suspects. Furthermore, how do you even know it was Misty who sent that text, and that it wasn't her admittedly jealous, violent, scheming BF who may have sneakily sent that text from her phone without her knowledge? That's not a farfetched plot twist at all. Quite the opposite in fact, but we'll also never know that for sure either. There are, however, literally countless potentials that could reasonably explain why she didn't show up that night. But again, we'll never know. One thing we DO know for certain is that Misty is not the killer and that LE doesn't consider her a culprit in any of this. You're not gonna succeed with a weak attempt to redirect attention on the one female that has already been cleared by documented investigative efforts when your only speculation is an alleged text msg and your own admission that she wasn't even there. Lol again, weak. Altho it does say a lot that you're even trying to do so when there's no shortage of unhinged male characters in this case, and "epilogue". Each of whom have verifiable, long standing track records displaying both legal and moral deviances. Not to mention more importantly, one of which has an admitted role in this case. An admission that, mind you, doesn't even implicate Misty in any way shape or form. Owens admission does, however, heavily implicate another person mentioned in that "epilogue" whom you, again, conveniently left out. Like I said, self-explanatory. I gotta say, you M'uricans (not Americans, but M'uricans) kill me. No matter how much someone is legally cleared, or how much non-existent evidence there is against a person, there's NEVER "innocent until proven guilty" with you quickies. You'll overlook anything to suit your own narrative. It's no wonder you're so easily perplexed.
Prior to this video it was my understanding the young man was killed for the money he carried for the purpose of purchasing a car. Funny they touch so lightly on this.
I am so glad i found this channel i am from Brevard nc and have listened to wlos channel 13 most of my life .I love that i can now keep up with true crime in WNC now ❤
I can’t imagine one of my children going to work and never seeing him again. A parents worse nightmare. R.I.P sweet young boy. You deserved better. 💙💙💙💙
Plea deals are not the wishes of the victims family. It is sold to the family because peosecuters are not confident of a guilty verdict. What the public does not know is that in civil and criminal cases, deals are sought because an attorney does not like litigating a case....they are not confident about going to court, not because of poor evidence, but because they are afraid. If you hire an attorney, you better check their litigation history.
Also because judges actively seek to reach settlements or pleas before going to trial which is the outcome of about 90% of cases, give or take. That’s part of their job.
46:30 I cannot listen to that POS tell his BS version of what happened. He said earlier in this documentary that they were going to look at a car Zebb might want to buy so maybe Zebb had cash on him
The prosecution office in this case is as crooked as a dogs back leg. The people in the jurisdiction should be outraged at the conduct of the “officers of the court”. That prosecutor should be run out of town on a rail.
I’m shocked that they didn’t find any dna in the car. They also didn’t mention who the page was from and the dog found in the car. I believe he might be telling the truth about Zebb except he did the killing not his uncle. The accident and his injuries as suspicious too. The uncle is probably not so innocent either. Probably helped dispose of the bodies
Exactly, there’s a chance that when zebb was caught for the codds murders his uncle knew he was gonna squeal for a deal and his uncle tried getting ahead of it. And he was right
When he said that it bothered him and he wanted to get something off his chest, everything had to know he was lying. If it had really bothered him, he would have told sooner and not put Zebb’s family through decades of hell. (Approximately 39 minutes in). It’s sickening to see how he faked remorse for Zebb. He didn’t care about that child.
You haven't finished investigating this case until you explain the puppy that was found in Zebb Quinn's abandoned car. Including what happened to it afterwards.
That's exactly what I was thinking!!!!!! Why put it in the beginning and then not say what happened to it. I waited for the entire video to finish and it ticked me off!!
The oupiwas fine and adopted I think but don’t remember by whom. There was speculation that the puppy makes the car more likely to be noticed. Along with the lips and being parked next to mom and sister’s work. Like it was meant for them to notice
This is what scares me about my ex husband is he is so mad that I divorced and wants to control my life and can’t he is causing a lot of issues in my life n this scares me now I have taken so so much abuse by this man The gaslighting and manipulation is out of control keeps contacting my mother when he doesn’t need to contact her for any reason
Protect yourself. If you can get a gun do so AND train with it. In the heat of the moment muscle memory will be important. Get mace and a taser. I also keep a knife on me as well. Hide MACE all over your home and keep some on you at all times. Have your phone set to be able to call 911 at the touch of a button. Get a large dog if you don't have one. Get an alarm system. Make sure your doors and windowd are locked at all times. Be prepared and tell your family if they haven't heard from you in a certain amount of time to come check on you and call the police if need be. Make sure they are aware of your situation. If he is harassing you or he does anything (including calling your mom) write it down...keep a record of EVERYTHING he's doing and shouldnt be. Get a restraining order. No it won't help if he wants to do something but it helps in the courts and it makes a record. Ensuring there is a record is important. Good luck. I hope you never have to defend yourself but be ready just in case. The most dangerous time is when we leave.
@@LaLaLonna you are amazing thank you so much I am afraid of guns so I will have to get a taser and mace. Can you believe my door you have to put a code in it to get in and he planned me putting the same app on my sons phone so he could get in in the middle of the night because he knows I’m a deep sleeper and screw my life up, it’s absolutely the most craziest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. God bless you and I’m so grateful for the good people in this world Love to you honey.
This dude Jason Owens has to be the unluckiest dude that ever lived. First, he was taking his friend to see a girl and there just happen to be an elaborate plan in place to kill his friend that he knew nothing about. And then, would you believe, he accidentally runs over two other friends with his truck and kills them by accident and instead of leaving the scene, or better yet reporting it, he decides to chop up the bodies and burn them. I mean this guy was one jinxed SOB🙄
This bastard killed, dismembered and burned all his best friends, implicated a dead uncle and some dead drug addict, although the methods in the case of a proven second murder are absolutely the same.If you can dismember someone, and even your best friend, then who are you telling that you have decided to purify your soul. You just don't have it .And this girl, the apple of discord, should also be behind bars.
An “abomination”? They may be distasteful but please describe what an optimal or ideal outcome would be and outline a path that achieves that goal given the facts available in this case.
Such a bummer. And of course he's a special person or had "learning disabilities. Let him not suffer, or let him not have suffered. I can't stand when this happens.
my long message went away,as parents we have to do way better, it starts at home..the best job i had was being a parent and it breaks my soul to see what this world have become 💯
“… has become”? This is a far better world than our parents or most of our grandparents grew up in. These cases are shocking but they are neither new or novel, just relatively recent and ripe for exploitation. These are made to attract viewers to make money, not to be educational or provide a public service, so while interesting, they create a skewed view of the world. True crime rate in the U.S. is at a nearly historic low, particularly the number of violent crimes. It is a fraction of what it was as recently as the 1970s and 80s, when violent crime reached its zenith. Much has improved and hopefully more improvements can be made in our society, but they won’t happen if we subscribe to a false fatalistic notion that crime is inexorably getting worse and worse when in fact it demonstrably is not. By the way, the number one predictor of how skewed someone’s perception of the world is? Watching television. The more television you watch (and that includes streaming media), the more inaccurate your perception of reality is. Read instead, especially reputable mainstream newspapers and magazines and journals and read interesting but also informative books, not just drug store paperback novels or stuff like conspiracy theory books about UFOs.
Christie was on America Text Kitchen and was a very good chef, I remember her from back in 2009-2010. This is just horrifying, this boy Jason had a very dark side and he killed Zebb after luring him to look a a car that was supposedly for sale..... just monstrous, all of it.
I can see why the families of all the victims wanted nothing to do with this doc. Bunch of clowns in this one doing the talking. Hell is a place for those who earn it, they earned it. No pity for these murderers
Jason is a sociopath who does not deserve to ever walk free again! Nothing he says can be believed!! Jebb and the Codds deserved better!! Condolences to the victim's families and friends💔
He is full of 💩 those attorneys should be in prison also, no plea deals should of been given he should of got the death sentence. I hope the lovely couple their unborn baby and Zebb are resting in peace.
“should have been,” not “should of been,” which makes no sense. Accordingly, I’ll trust the intelligence, education, knowledge and skills of the attorneys rather than lay persona commenting from the peanut gallery.
Yes Jason was the primary suspect from the start. Cops should have known that and stuck with this theory. Travesty of justice for Zebb and his family. Terrible police work. 22 years later. Absolutely disgraceful. To 'A Good Kid.' 🙏🏻
I believe the person in prison is responsible for all of the murders, including the murder of Zebb Quinn. I do not believe the story that the uncle killed Zebb.
The devil point to his uncle who cant even defend himself. Gene doesnt even have a connection to the lad. They made it obvious trying to hard to connect gene to that murder. The good thing is he is now in prison and hope he never gets out.
This is so sad that the police fell this family of Zebb. It is so obvious that Jason was the murderer of Zebb.If police had done their job the Codds would be living. This was an all around tragedy of justice. This case went way to long for Zebbs family.Im so sorry for their loss of this precious young man.🙏🌹
I’m not buying a single word Jason says. This guy is about as sick as they come. First off, Dismembering another person is NOT wise, forensically speaking, and it would be inconceivable for anyone to do to someone they care about, nor would it even enter the mind of someone in a panic after a tragic accident. Only monsters chop up other people. Let’s not forget she was pregnant, as well. Only a sick and twisted mind could do such a horrific thing. That poor couple, we’ll never know what they went through because he controls the narrative about what happened and his whole relationship with them. Psychopaths are crappy liars and even worse actors - most people are just too damn trusting to recognize when they’re being manipulated.
Defence liar...I mean lawyer-"He was honest about what happened." Creepy psychopathic accused of 4 murders, 1 being a baby, "I accidentally ran the couple over ad feel remorse." Gets Plea Deal from the D>A> based on this totally false admission. Oh yes, he also cut the couple up, with baby inside into little pieces. This is justice????!!!
He treated those people as they were nothing. It must have been horrific chopping and burning body's. How could you live your life, knowing what his family are going through. He is one cold person, and the uncle is a wrong in. RIP 🙏
He did all that and claims to be in agony over what he did, but all I see is Jason's self pity. The only person who ever mattered to Jason is Jason, and he is the REAL victim. Just ask him.
That is so true, one thing that angers me is the fact the police knew it was him. He got to live his life, and kill again. He should be on death row, not living every day
He looks Evil I have seen many Evil faces like this it makes your skin crawl. A law suit against the Police Dept should surfice Shocking police work. Psychic Incestigators should have been bought in Not too late to do so.
I understand why the friend of the Codds-Amy Carlson, is so angry. But the problem is-there’s very little physical evidence. But there is just enough that the likelihood of a guilty verdict at trial is very high. Owens clearly didn’t want to take that bet @ trial. His story is obvious BS, I don’t believe for 1 second, & neither does the family believe, that they were “friends, like family” to Jason Owens. Unfortunately, 90% of cases are pled out before trial bc the family members DON’T want to hear every gory, heartbreaking detail…& Owens’s “story” is just that-a story! Why make them sit through a trial, listen to this conman lie about their family members deaths, & roll the dice that COULD end in an acquittal? That’s 1 hell of a tough call to make. His uncle is an obvious liar too! His body language in those interrogations was TOO open/forthcoming. He’s too good a liar, he’d likely sway a juror or 2. He doesn’t seem nervous, & isn’t worried about throwing Owens under the bus for Zebb’s murder is (IMO) bc he knows they’ll never find a body & if they find remains, there’s little chance there’s enough to prove murder against either of ‘em. One or both of them, maybe more ppl, clearly murdered Zebb. Why?-we’ll probably never know, & he’s not going to give up where his are, ever. Neither the uncle, nor Owens. He might tell his stories so he can go on “field trips” occasionally to help recover said remains, but they’ll inevitably always end up with 0 results. As long as he makes stuff up about other potential murders he & his uncle are involved in, the longer he gets to screw w/ family members, & have his ego fed w/ interviews & tv spots. It’s unfair, unjust, but like the detective said-he’s locked up now & can’t hurt any more innocent ppl, & sometimes that’s just the way things happen. Especially when the evidence just isn’t there. It’s unfortunate the initial investigators didn’t find enough evidence bc I feel badly for Zebb’s family. Not knowing for sure is the worst pain. 😢
