Goofy is only a single father bc Mickey beat his wife “Pluto” into a vegetative state during the early stages of labor organizing on the Disney lots. Pluto, the only pet in a world of anthropomorphic animals, was beaten by Mickey in front of the labor organizers and kept as a pet to remind the others how the free market works. Goofy’s wife was chosen due to his perceived proximity to the power structure of the labor organizing. Goofy himself could not be harmed due to his own popularity within the company. He is forced to work beside his disabled former spouse who is now owned by his boss and the man who caused her disability, Mickey Mouse.
