I think this makes a great night stand emergency light. It can be mounted on the night stand and is always ready to go. That's the problem with many of our flashlights they never seem to be where I need them especially in an emergency. It seems like it might be a little large for use with my semi-auto but I think it will work.

Its a tactical Flashlight. Strobe (Instant) is what makes it tactical not instant “turbo”.. As law enforcement officer this is my duty light! The best especially making traffic stops and going on dark properties at night! Very excellent situational awareness. It out performs the”Stinger” by far. Once you use it you will definitely have the “Stinger for back up only! LE office this officially Stream light replacement. This light is hard to beat. It overpowers the spotlight on patrol units and I use it when searching for fleeing suspects. Don’t be misled by this review! I guarantee any First Responder will be very pleased with this Flashlight! Especially Police Officers/Sheriff Deputies ! It’s marketed police. The tinted beam (medium-low) is to cuts through fog/rain to keep from distracting vision. It’s only white at High for tactical purposes. I run mine on high(1000 lumens so I instant access to Turbo. Even 300 lumens is awesome on this light. 💯

I disagree but that’s the nice thing about opinions. Everyone has a right to them. And a tactical flashlight needs both direct access to strobe AND TURBO. I own many many many other TAC lights that would serve you better as a “duty” light than this one.

@@ChrispyThings Completely agree with you 100%. A blinding blast of turbo is just as effective as strobe- unless the person has epilepsy.

@@ChrispyThings you do really good reviews but you’re dropping the ball on this one. Knowing your equipment and how to use it the #1 rule in law enforcement. I too own several lights and this by far exceeds them approaching homes and vehicles at night. instant strobe is there. You don’t need instant turbo in tactical situations if you’re using strobe it’s the same piercing brightness. Try real world scenarios in tactical situations. You’ll soon discover that a drug addict or someone full rage a blast of 3k lumens will be useless. Strobe distracts vision causing miscalculation of distance/movement.

@@MrExcane in real world situations bright strobe is definitely more effective. We actually tested that theory in Academy. It was harder for trainees to grab the instructors holding strobe light (wide beam pattern) over the turbo beam. In many cases it they were able to grab the instructors using turbo mode! They misjudged their steps and distance trying to grab the instructors using strobe. Test the theory yourself in a dark or low light environment.

I have the TK20 and the Turbo is just too bright for most situations.

Great channel, and another great review. I’m a huge lover of Fenix. I completely agree with you and I’ve talked to Fenix about making their dual tail switch lights have DUAL modes like daily and tactical the way Nitecore and Klarus make many of their lights. You recommend the TK16 v2 as a great tactical light, but it suffers from the same problem of memory mode. Fenix needs to start listening to customer feedback.
@kyth4062
@kyth4062 Год назад
Get this light . He’s wayyy off about this light. I use it on duty shift and it has not disappointed me yet. It out performs the TK16 by far. It’s designed for Law Enforcement. Tinted beam up 1000 lumens for rain/snow/fog purposes (reduces glare). He is misleading people on this one. This light is what stream light should have designed! Even 300lm is brighter than Stream Light 800 lumen stinger.

@@kyth4062 I have 2 of them, along with almost every other Fenix light. They just need to stop putting memory mode on EVERYTHING. One or two lights with a true tactical setting and I’d be happy.

I would guess the S.O.S.'s low power is to have it work for a really long time. I do agree with you, 100 lm may go on forever battery-wise, but it may not be discovered at all.
@ChrispyThings

I figured that as well. But what’s the point of lasting a long time if nobody can see it? Lol

I would think a connector at the bottom of the light would be better, then you just "throw it in" a cradle without the need to turn it in the cradle to align it properly. It cant be impossible to have two rings around the buttons or one outer ring and a "center dot" between the buttons or something. As it is now, it looks a bit fiddly to put it in the cradle.
@ChrispyThings

You’re correct. It’s absolutely fiddly. I rarely line it up properly the first time

This could be the one for me. I'm trying right now to just buy one really powerful, but hopefully quality light and this might be it. I love it so far. I'd mainly be using it around the house or for my delivery's where I'm looking for an address on a house. Not sure if it's right for that use or not? Hmmmm. Well, thanks for a really good, thorough review. Marc T.

I'm interested in getting one of these so that I can mount it in my vehicle as a "grab light" on the charging base for when I'm out in the field. I don't need anything tactical, the brightness memory will be just fine for me. My question is how tight is the light retained in the holder? Do you think it would move around or fall out of the holder if it was mounted in a vehicle?
@ChrispyThings
@ChrispyThings 14 дней назад
It’s sturdy when it’s in the mount so I don’t believe so.

So I guess Stream lights are only utility/garage lights too?. Sorry dude you’re way off and wrong as for Law Enforcement.m. This light is tactical for all Law Enforcement purposes. Entering property (Situational Awareness) Traffic Enforcement (Turbo mode/vehicle search-low mode). You definitely hurting Fenix sales with this faulty review. This light out performs the TK16/Tac22/PD35R pro for reliability In high stress situations because of its wide long distance beam! The Fenix C7 is the only other Fenix light that has similar performance ( No tail switch is the draw back)… Heck this light is definitely good for military purposes. He definitely has this wrong! LE order this light you will not be disappointed at all! Several Officers have ordered this light and are very happy with it.

@@ChrispyThings TK16 v2 suffers from the same drawback (as my previous comment) of having memory mode. Tactical use should never make you remember how you turned it off. Needs to come on in high or turbo every time.

Since it seems to be such a point of contention for you, the reason the SOS is only 100 lumens, well let's be honest, SOS and strobe are antiquated designs that are comically ignorant, and the only reason they're still implemented is due to antiquated SOP's from departments that require a flashlight. Manufacturers still implement them to sell products. It needs to be changed, SOS and strobe needs to be removed from lights because it's dumb. It's never users that write SOPs though, it's always bureaucrats, so they're forever stuck in the 1950s - 1970s regulations. Anyways, SOS is about longevity, not brightness. You don't want a 3k lumen, 2hr SOS, you want a 100 lumen, 50hr SOS. Though SOS is a dumb feature, what's even dumber is to have a 2hr runtime, SOS. Longevity, not brightness. I'm a prior TEAM guy that teaches a lowlight interdiction & force on force; I teach good guys how to k!ll bad guys in the dark (not law enforcement). I promise no one has ever used SOS or strobe in any application. For the love of God don't be so petty as to let those features bother you, because they're dumb. 100% I agree it should have a instant across turbo feature though. I don't understand why these light manufacturers aren't just following the feature set of WMLs? Speaking of WMLs, though this is a decent light, and bright af, the quality difference between this, and an objectively high tier light is really displayed in the specs. My tiny MODLITE that I run on my rifles is 75k candela (surefires are 55k), and 1/3 the size of this. I wonder why these mid tier manufacturers are incapable of matching the candela of much smaller lights, at 3x their size. Sure s MODLITE is $600, but it's 1/3 this size. God the 3k lumens with something like 20k candela? I would exclusively just run WMLs as edc lights if tactical is it's intended purpose, and a 300 lumen keychain flash light for everything else. No strobe, no bs, straight to turbo, 1/3 this size, 4x as bright.
