Enjoyed your presentation. I do have one comment however. I use Nibblers black ink and a fude nib pen, but I also use 140# cold press watercolor paper and find it will often take more than an hour for the ink to completely dry. You might want to tell your viewers to lay a scrap piece of watercolor paper on top of you sketch to blot up any excess wet ink before applying your watercolor paint. I’ve spoiled a few works by waiting less than an hour for the ink to dry.
Nice video, Kris. I also like the Duke pens, even better than my Visconti! You are a great communicator with excellent diction. That’s uncommon these days.😉
Thank you so much. That's nice to hear about the diction. I'm a teacher by profession....so I spend a lot of time talking in front of people. Maybe that helps. :-) Have a great day.
Looks like an excellent alternative to the disposables that are so common today. I would imagine after a little practice it beats switching pens all the time. Great video. Thank you! 👍
You will need to practice and experiment with the angle of the tip and the amount of pressure to use. But I'm sure you can get the hang of it. Have a great day!
Kris DeBruine Studio I hope you don’t mind but I have a list of questions that perhaps you don’t mind addressing in your videos for beginners such as myself. Should I write them on your comment section or would you prefer me to email them to you?
Kris DeBruine Studio Awesome! So here are some of my questions: 1. What are some common beginner mistakes and how to avoid them? 2. What are some watercolor practices you can recommend to a beginner to get use to the medium? 3. How do you know what techniques to use when painting certain things such as landscapes or portraits? 4. What is brush control? 5. What is lightfastness and how important is it? 5. Can you mix other medium to watercolor paint mix such as oil paint or gouache or acrylics? 6. How to preserve your painting after it’s completed? Is there a clear coat of paint we can use to preserve it? Hope you’re not overwhelmed 😬
A beginner wc here. every time I search for a topic I most often get artists/YTers from the PNW plus Daniel Smith and M Graham are based out of here too. It thrills my heart to know I am living in the right state🙏🏽❤️ beautiful WA.😛 . Very helpful.
