Lived in Newfoundland for 41 years and Nova Scotia for 25 years so you can imagine how much I enjoyed this blog! Now living in Alberta and I thank you for this touch of Atlantic Canada!
Thanks for the revist to old city and the Frontenac area. The tram is a life saver---- lots of stairs on the way there. We did a great tour to Montmorency Falls ,St. Ann's Cathedral and a sweet chocolate shoppe on an island in the center of the river. You have time to do it all if your ship overnights in Quebec (best choice ever--- the lights on the Frontenac @ night are tre romantique!)
Nice video. This is my favourite repeat itinerary but I always cruise solo. Your video convinced hubby to try it. We got a super early booking deal on Volendam next year. Canadian ports only and a stop in St Pierre Et Miquelon. No large airports, no Customs, and Canadian currency everywhere. Montreal to Montreal. Thanks Mr and Mrs Canuck.
Second vlog on board and didn't disappoint! Jerry channeling Ben is hilarious. Loved following along in old Quebec. Brought back wonderful memories of our cruise on Celebrity Summit a couple of years ago-we had an overnight there which was fantastic! Hope HAL gets your stateroom temp resolved. Loved Loved Breton Thunder! What a rollicking good time. I am making supper and dancing in the kitchen to the tunes. Kudos to HAL for bringing local talent onboard, from the region you're sailing in. Cheers from London, Ontario.
Great vlog of your Canada Cruise on the Volendam 👏🤗👏 Very impressed with Quebec and the Notre Dame beautiful church. Thank for sharing 🫶🏻 Been wanting to do the Canada HA cruise for several years now. But Euro & Caribbean Cruises ..always WIN Do not cruise as much as you guys 🛟🛳️🛟 I am not a RU-vidr Great evening show Love Ireland ☘️
Quebec City is on our bucket list after watching your video. Looks like such beautiful, charming place to visit! Mr. Canuck - your chocolate chip dessert you had for lunch looked fantastic! Yum! Loved your formal dress, Jill!!!!
Quebec City is one of my favourite cities in Canada. I have been going there since I was a very young child. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we always do.
I love that you brought up the restroom availability. That is always on my mind when we're in Europe: always have Euro coins, or where can we stop where we can use the restroom? Use it even if you don't need to, because you never know when you'll see one. Love the easy going day today in Quebec City. Nice it wasn't so busy.
We tend to go to Alaska as we drive to Vancouver Cruise Terminal . Next year we will book this cruise . Good videography of Quebec City and life on board one of my favourite little ships. Looking forward to next port .
I'm so looking forward to our June 22 starting in Boston. My suitcase is packed, hubby's working on his. It definitely feels more real now than last November. Your videos are making it look so great. I'm not sure I'd tell hubby about the Wang Wang. I had a coworker who used to call tequila "to kill ya".
That is great at Quebec City. My wife really like going to Quebec City. My wife really enjoyed walking around. The first time she didn't need to use a walker. Pasta could be really good. Don't like cheeseburgers. That's why I don't like ice cream cones. Like staying overnight in Quebec City. Don't eat shellfish. With my bread like Olive Oil. Like Veggies. Do have meat a few times since that gives me some vitamins and nutrients that I need. Like fiddles. They must be from Cape Breton.
We had a fabulous day in Quebec City and an even better time onboard with wonderful food and entertainment! The band members were mostly from Nova Scotia with one member from Newfoundland! There are amazing.🛳
Thanks for the tour of the city, it brings back nice memories of our last visit. Formal night, the food and the music looked awesome. So glad you are enjoying this cruise as one of your best ever but weak AC in a cabin would be annoying. Thanks for the vlog.
All my mothers family are French Canadian, and I have an aunt there. Last time I visited was in 2019. I never tire seeing Vieux Montreal and Quebec City. Yes lots of walking.
I’m right there with you on the Wang Wang. Did a cruise where Wang Chung were on board and we went to a special event that included many different tastings, I could not drink the majority of the drinks including the Wang Wang, way too strong for me!
Very cool. It is lovely when you meet a Captain with an outgoing personality. We noticed our Captain throughout the cruise joking around with all the crew and passengers daily as he made his way around the ship.
Look forward to seeing Quebec City one day, as well as sailing on the Volendam. And now the Wang Wang is on my to do list. Hope to see Jerry attempt it again on this cruise!
I can’t believe the AC wasn’t fixed! Nice video with food shots and Quebec City scenery! Very beautiful. It reminded me of Edinburgh, but not quite as old or as frantic and crowded, maybe before because you were there so early. It was also very clean and nice that they had clean, FREE public restrooms! Also, unlike France, it didn’t look like they were people smoking everywhere… I didn’t think Mrs. C would like the funicular with that with that noise, even if it didn’t go straight up!😅
Day 2 of the cruise & I’m sold to do one, could even stop & mow my lawn when we stop in Halifax 🤣 What a simple pleasure to sit there with a drink & listen to those classic down home tunes (garage floor stompers)
We did a similar cruise out of Quebec City on the Zuiderdam a few years back. It was SO WONDERFUL. I think my favorite stop was on Cape Breton Island - we went to a musical show there and it was beyond fantastic. Much like the show you saw on this memorable day :-)
We are really enjoying your videos for this cruise 🚢 my husband and I did a driving holiday to Nova Scotia, Cape Breton as he is from Cape Breton, a few years ago we stopped in Quebec City for 2 nights and absolutely loved it👍 your tour around brought back some wonderful memories 💕💕❤️ looking forward to seeing day 3 take care and again Thanks love ALL your videos 👍
I am so glad the Wang Wang was sampled! I was the one that originally brought it up in the live😅 I always heard that it was called a Wang Wang because it's like an onomatopoeia of how ambulances sound in Indonesia and you'll need one after drinking one😂😂😂
Thank you both - love your style of videos. Love the little Ben and David comment :) We'll be doing this cruise but 11 night and beginning in Boston ending in my hometown of Montreal,so you're making me even more excited. The band looks awesome. Looking forward to seeing more.
Well I have to say, our Canada/New England cruise was one of the best...but it was on Princess..We will have to try Holland America and the smaller ship at that.
Brought me back to our trip with our boys from Ottawa to Montreal by car, and by train from Montreal to Quebec City. We stayed at a VRBO within the Old City walls. Nothing like eating poutine at a restaurant with a view of Chateau Frontenac, wandering around the old city walls and viewing the Plains of Abraham. My son and I went under the boardwalk to see the ruins of the original governor's mansion, etc. and the other son, on the Spectrum, trying to fish lost coins from between the boards along the boardwalk. If you go back, it might be worth your while to get out to Montmorency waterfall... but wait... Jill may not enjoy the gondola ride up or, alternatively, the multitude of steps up to the top of the escarpment.🤣 Also, there's an interesting lane full of local artists displaying their works of art for sale.
You forgot to mention an important historical location which are the “Plains of Abraham” where ,in Sept 1759 the British soldiers under General Wolfe fought the French soldiers lead by General Montcalm. Both Generals were killed. The importance of this battle is that Quebec became an English colony, and thus Canada has remained a part of The British Commonwealth.
Yep - we know as that’s part of our elementary school curriculum. We just didn’t get over there to show the fort and plains. Hopefully we will have a chance to grab some footage next week when we are in Quebec City for three days.
We love Holland America so much, definately our fav cruise line. Would you ever consider doing a world cruise on HAL? My husband and I are looking into one for '26. But we love the itinerary on the Zuiderdam in '25. We just love that itinerary. Hoping they have it again in '26. Love your videos!!!
A lot of the filming we did was very early on a Sunday morning. Most things opened by 10 am with a few opening at 11 am. It became a very happening place later in the day.
Enjoyed watching your videos for this cruise. They are always very enjoyable. It is interesting seeing everyone's likes and dislikes. I would have loved the cruise apart from the entertainment you showed us in the theatre. It is clear you thoroughly enjoyed it, but the violin/jiggy music just isn't my scene. Everyone has their opinion, which I respect, but it wouldn't have worked for me. PS I had to watch your video no. 2 four times to find the letter!
Thanks for watching! The Breton Thunder is very representative of Eastern Canadian music which we have always loved. Sorry the letter proved to be a little challenging.
@@CruisingCanucks No problem with the difficulty that's what it is all about. Some of the local music in countries is very specific. Can't stand the Scottish bagpipes 😁
We thought the same when we were in front of the mainstage. On the promenade we were standing facing a florescent light - so that makes it look unnatural compared to the sunset behind us.
Both less mainstream and oddly both struggled to break into international markets. Don't you have to be a drummer to like Rush (and Niel Peart?) 😝 Celine Dion and Shania Twain likely should have been added to the list first.
The ship holds a 1400 people. We aren’t sure how many were cruising with us. There was a sign at the Guest Services saying that there were no extra cabin available however we met a number of solo cruisers.
Mr. Canuck is just eating what he likes - the explanation rolls out throughout the vlog series. Depending on where you are in Canada you will find two different ways of saying Poutine.
@@CruisingCanucks Fantastic. You guys are my idol, so I plan on following suit on eating more vegetarian options. thank you for clarifying! great videos. Love you guys!!
I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on what a vlog is. Maybe a documentary voiced over with Morgan Freeman would be better? LOL. We don’t feel comfortable filming others without their permission - so it’s just us taking folks along for the ride.
@@CruisingCanucks I agree with not filming others without permission, unless they are just in the background. But I really want to see the ship, not you, although you are very nice.
We usually do a ship tour to accompany each vlog series. For folks who want a complete tour of the ship (without seeing our faces once!), they can get a narrated, guided tour. For those wanting to see what we find and do around the ship and ports, the vlogs take a more personal approach.
