I think we don’t exactly want to do it in the modern age, it isn’t helpful when that hegemony has already collapsed and the treatment of the disease starts to become a scandal. But I would never accept the suggestion that the painful medicine for heresy society sometimes needed in the past is the same as persecution of the church
