@@Xavier17.5 I disagree, my friend. In these hard times of struggle, with strife, and death everywhere, sharing your creative process with other people will inspire them to be creative in their own way, promoting an inspiration to create positivity in the world. For creative types, like myself, it can be a way to be like, “aha! I’ve never thought of it like that before…”. And for those just starting out making art, it might give them a sense of direction, either with what they want to do, or else inform them on what they don’t want to do. Cynics would say that modern art isn’t creative at all, but I disagree. No two pieces of art will be exactly the same. Not of the person creating it puts their heart and soul into it. Everyone has their own spin on things, if they really want it to.
@@Xavier17.5 Please bear in mind, Friend, that I’m not putting you down at all. I just wish to share my understanding of art, more than anything, in point of fact, a debate could be a very helpful tool for us both to achieve a better understanding of it. I thank you for your input, and hope that we may have this little repartee a little bit longer
“See these white keys? Skip the first one behind it and put the notes on every other one and repeat until you hopefully get a good chord progression.” As a jazz student this explanation is hilarious, love it!
@@WhispyOn9 honestly just post. The best thing about social media is we always have the option to delete it and post another. Posting helps improving your work. You can see if you get a reaction out of it or not and improve. I do it for alot of my work no matter if its good or bad. And everytime the next post is always better than the last and you can tell
This is truly gold. I too found lofi last year and instantly fell in love with it and wanted to make it. a year in and its been a total blast. I can 100% recommend Cymatics Eternity, ive used them in some of my lofi. This guide is super useful. from the bottom of my heart, thank you for this information.
I've been trying a lot of things with FL Studio in the past, but I've never been satisfied with my results. Today was the first time I actually liked what i created, thanks to your help! Perfectly explained for beginners, thanks a lot! I appreciate your help
Thank you so much. Your’s is the first video that I’ve found that doesn’t explain using AI generated music. I have original music that I would like to adapt for Lofi. I’m musically educated and use Logic. So, you definitely spoke to me. Again, thank you so much.
if i had watched this tutorial a year ago, it would have saved me a lot of tears over trying to figure out how to make envelopes for samples, great video!
I personally have a decent music theory knowledge, thought I have a pretty big lack of creativity, which leads me to start projects with some ideas I personally really enjoy, and then I don't have a clue on how to continue and I drop it; also, I don't have a that great electronic music's knowledge either. It's three years I try to complete a lofi piece, I have many uncompleted ones, but no finished songs. I recently started looking into different equal temperaments and I'm working on a 7-TET piece (I found 7-TET allows you to have neutral 3rds and 7ths, which sounds very cool to me): I found more motivation than usual with it, still I don't work on it too much. You did give me many ideas though, thanks! It was very helpful! Also, something I really like doing for drums is to make them imperfect as well (I hear it in many lofi songs, and I like it sooo much), so usually I move the snare and the kick ever so slightly early, which makes the beat jiggle in a super satisfying way!
I honestly have been lacking creativity lately. I have so many unfinished projects due to not knowing how to continue with them. The best thing is to just listen to A LOT of music. Listen to the little things that you might not have heard the first time that make the song sound fuller. Also, I love humanizing drums in lofi songs. Honestly makes it sound much better
6:53 that is SO CLOSE to how i heard the drums in my head when you were making the piano part and by the 2nd loop i could hear a drum beat in my mind. it is legit, SO CLOSE
Hey, I have a question, why didn't you include how to make the bass sound better with the plugins you're using. Those aren't included in to this tutorial and also a headsup to the producers who are trying to learn to make boombap/lofi.
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:29 Choose *a digital audio workstation (DAW) for making lo-fi music; FL Studio is recommended.* 00:43 Set *a slow tempo between 60 to 90 bpm for the lo-fi genre.* 01:23 Create *seventh chords easily in FL Studio by using the scale highlighting feature.* 02:34 Add *bass to your chords by copying the root notes and use a simple bassline.* 03:55 Keep *drum patterns simple for lo-fi music, and consider using free sample packs.* 05:16 Create *a melody by playing notes that sound good within the key of your chords.* 05:55 Enhance *the lo-fi feel with imperfections like vinyl crackle and electronic noise.* 06:57 Conclude *your lo-fi song or explore additional elements like a second melody or chord changes.*
Just subscribed! Such a great video! I'm a total noob when it comes to music, but thanks to you I feel like I have a fighting chance! Hopefully I can use this to make some custom beats for my video game.
This a great tutirial! I have ableton and this program looks easier. But honestly thankyou. This shows us the basics of the formula. Well done. Im bout to go experiment. Im a noobie on daw programs
I love the attention to detail, wish there was more for the drums tho. Every part of music come natural except when making drums or a beat. I Can hear the beat but i don’t know how to apply that on the daw if thy mass sense lol Update: saw your vid on a guide to making lofi drums :)))) Love love love that you made a whole video for it
could you do a video on how to set everything thing up, im trying to set it up for the very first time, and im struggling how how to opent the actually piano of spitfire soft piano lab. its my first time ever doing something like this and would like to try out makingbeats. ( in a way thats free obviously) i think i have everything installed in the right spots but still it would be very helpful if you could do a full guide on how you installed the programs you used in this video and how to connect them to use them together. ( i hope this makes sense lol)
Hey Zectro, Hope the holidays went well for you. But Ive got a question, Lofi drums that you linked is no longer available. Do you have an alternatives you recommend?
it's a really good tutorial, but i have a problem. when i try to download any of the "cymatics origin" - or "cymatics toolkit" it's just loading... so please help if you can.
