This video serves as a guide to the earliest science fiction films, from the years 1895-1909. I discuss filmmakers like Georges Méliès (A Trip to the Moon), Lumière Brothers, Segundo de Chomón, and Walter R. Booth.

7:15 Regarding "The Airship Destroyer," London was bombed by Zeppelins in WW I, making this film astoundingly predictive.

Your videos are extremely well researched, accesible, considerate of audiences interested in learning about and jumping on the genre/sub genre/type of film that you’ve made a video on. This one in particular is amazing, I can’t tell you how much I’ve wanted a video like this on early sci fi. You do amazing valuable work and I urge you to continue!!!

To be honest you'd think directors in the early 1900's wouldn't have the slightest idea of the concept of sci-fi but Im surprised. What would be really interesting is seeing people's reaction to these movies. Im sure the following decades will have more to offer especially with the Cold War and the space race.

It’s me again, I’m hoping u can help me with a question about the first “ wizard of oz”.I think it was in 1913 but it appears they don’t know who the director was. The film has meant clues that is in the melies style but I think the biggest clue is how easy he brought out the dancing girls. Just like in his “ magic lantern”. Ps. “Jupiters thunderbolts” is one his best short crowd pleaser’s shorts.what a Hoot. Everything bagel.
