I come from my Catholic family, and honestly, my parents will not allow any of us to wear a short, skirted dress and be that fancy. Each one of us wore a long first communion dress, and a white fail and it was not like that I guess that I do not come from a billionaire family.

Children should be children and they are not dolls and toys of all matters dressing grown up as adults.

I love the travellers, they do not care about what they wear, like to be outrageous and like to be better than each other, but they are good people. The communion dresses were quite something!!!!!! The idea that any of this is "Traditional Gypsy and Traveller culture" is not true, its all a recent creation, as Traditional Gypsy and Irish Traveller culture was very conservative in the way they allowed girls and women to dress. Much of this is a recent phenomenon, with more to do with acting as a distraction and an alibi for less legal activities. Saddens me to see genuine Gypsy culture being thrown away in order to enable what is destroying the communities.

Very IMPORTANT FACT for all the haters out there. These families are very religious, and the culture WORKS very hard to give their daughters a good life. These girls may have fancy dresses for their big days... Beginning at Birth for her Christening, Massive Birthday parties, Sweet 16 Birthday, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and especially their Wedding Day! The women of their culture Cook, Clean, take their responsibilities of being a good wife and mother VERY seriously! Their parents LOVE THEM and raise them in a very strict upbringing. They are married young, and it is their culture to do so. The girls are very chaste and are ALL Virgins for their husbands. They all believe that their marriage is a sacrament of the church, and they do NOT BELIEVE IN DIVORCE. You will only be married 1 time in your life. Interesting how many people knock these girls, and complain that CPS should be called against their parents for treating their daughters like this. I just wonder how many of the non-gypsy cultures that knock them for doing this for their girls were as serious about their marriage VOWS and how many were actually chaste for their husbands?? If their parents want to do this for their daughters, and the daughters enjoy it, and the men work hard for their money to be able to do this for them, what is wrong with it?? This element is just a cultural difference and they should not be forced into a socialistic viewpoint of today's liberal society when it goes against their religious beliefs. It is astounding to me that when people throw a fit about cultural equality and acceptance until it differs from their own lives, then it is not tolerated at all.
