Most powerful trick for professionals is from 25:00 to 25:30. This is why british humor ist so famous- even in Germany. :)))

When I have a microphone with Dante, have that less latency ? of is it the same when I used the XLR analog on the sq5 ?

Hi Keith, thanks for the video, I have just ordered a Dante card for my SQ5 But I am debating to order ether a DT168 or a DX168 but would like to know what the difference in latency between using the SQ Dante card with DT168 or the DX168 would be before deciding which one to go for. I don’t think your video covered this.

Hello Paul, The total latency within an SQ system is of 0.7ms. It is not possible to give an accurate latency measurement for Dante, as this can vary and depends on your setup. You may be able to measure latency from Dante Controller for your reference. However, you can be sure that it is still a minimum latency which is one of the main advantages of using Dante. Rafael

Some bookmarks for me: What is latency 4:18 Where does latency occur 7:14 AR2412 8:46 Processing from input to output 9:27 When doesn't latency matter 11:20 When does latency matter 13:22 When can phase cancelation happen 19:05 Phase coherency in SQ 26:43 Where it is compensated in the SQ 27:27 For example 28:20 Caveat 28:28 De-esser and DynEQ 29:11 Can adjust delay - even per sample 31:27 DEEP plugins - NO added latency 40:30

Ho Keith. I used waves rack from my 10 year old i7 2nd pc. 96khz/128 but it doesn't seem to me that there is 12ms latency. I used several plugins on the vocals (the la2a autotune, de esser) on the bass and drum group. I had cpu at 30% and I didn't seem to have latency. where do I notice the limit? I would like to buy a newer PC do you think I could get to have 15 plugins also something on master bus like multiband ssl comp etc?

Hey Tony, The latency measurements shared in this stream were made using RTL Utility which gives a roundtrip latency figure. The figures quoted were just to show a comparison between the different ways you can connect up a computer to the SQ for 'realtime' plugin use, but the actual latency you'll get will depend on many variables, so will be different on different systems. Having a more powerful computer will generally allow you to run more plugins at once and/or at a higher sample rate with lower buffer settings, both of which will reduce latency. CPU usage is not directly linked to latency, but if the CPU is struggling to keep up it can result in problems with the audio like clicking, popping or other artifacts - then the usual advice is to increase buffer size until it's happy, which in turn increases latency. Thanks, Keith.
