Tried out Tobal no,.1 back in the day, and it didn't click with me, but, that may have been more my being spoiled on Soul Blade and not wanting to worry about a technical fighter at the time, and while I was intrigued by the dungeon, the controls just made it not worth getting used to. Got back into it recently, after seeing how my recent love of Roguelites and how well that paired with the dungeon mode of Ehrgeiz, its dungeon mode, and save states, I put effort into the dungeon mode of Tobal no. 1 and managed to get into it. I'm still trying to work out opinions on the dungeon mode of Tobal 2. I have a copy of Tron Bonne, and I need to make another run at it. Between save states and slow-mo in emulation, I think I really should put an effort in to 100%ing it some day. Also, still relatively shocked at how much my loose copy is worth when looking it up online. I know they say the prices dropped when Sony put it up as a digital download, but it looks like that dip in prices was short lived. Hope I'm never in a position to turn it from a keepsake into a return on investment.
I got tobal when it came out. I think I only played soulblade in the arcade. I gotta say though Tobal is a hell of a fighter. Yea the reward for completing the dungeon is cool. It’s just a real pain to play.
Fully agree about Tobal, I definitely appreciate it more now than I had as a teenager. I think the only reason I was able to go back to the dungeon and not find the controls completely backwards was getting used to the controls for Lodoss War on the Dreamcast, where you need to get used to holding down a trigger the vast majority of the time, and then release it on occasion (strangely enough, also the key to having fun with Hulk: Ultimate Destruction)
The rubber banding is snow bros kids is AWFUL!!!🤬 I rented the 1st for N64. I almost broke my tv and console several times. I never bothered with the sequel and never bothered with snow bros kids again! FUCK THAT GAME!😂
It’s not that bad on the 64. My friends and I still play it. Usually after WWF no mercy. I played with someone who’d never played before and we lapped him. On plus. The others are always on you. I drop a rock and hear them trip
