Something cool and interesting is that the second base solo happens after Saiki sings “Focus on Buzz”. And the buzz for Band-Maid would be the bass in their songs. 90% of the reactions to them have “wow, listen to that bass!” So there’s more than one reason for the second solo.

I actually enjoy what Miku does in her harmonization of the rap-like section. This is why, although I feel she never gets enough credit, Miku is awesome!

When you hear the second vocal come in higher, that is actually Miku. She can sound like Saiki so well it is scary. And she can do it it a separate key. Ohhh, you will hear some other solos that take you the same way if you keep going. And the level of polish you will have to blame Kanami for. And thank Saiki for. Kanami seeks perfection, Saiki says "ENOUGH!". Otherwise we might still be waiting for Conqueror, Unseen World, and Unleash!.

Happy birthday! I love how they sang "love" at the end, starting with Saiki then Miku takes over with Akane doing an interesting drum line through all of it, brilliant. I'm not an expert on emo but I think "At the drop of a hat" might score well on your emo scale.

Happy Birthday, Mark! It's your birthday so can pause all you want. I'm not 100% but that strange harmony you mentioned at the beginning is most due to the interval being a major 4th instead of the usual nice sounding 3rd. So it's the actual note she's singing, not an effect. It gives that part tension.

For a lot of songs and bands, the solo is there for the purpose of showing off. However, a solo that takes over the vocals and enhances the song by adding emotional content is different. I think that's why Band-Maid fans get so demanding about it, and often stopping and restarting takes the solo out of context. Like analysing a single word in a poem, it's okay to understand why the poem means what it does, but the overall context is important too. Kanami does this _all the time_ with her solos. Daydreaming, Blooming, Puzzle are but three examples ...

So you’re saying I shouldn’t pause during the solo because it interrupts and ruins the flow and intention of the song… which would mean no pausing at all. Which for me means no reason to react… so, if you guys want no more BAND-MAID, lemme know. I can just listen on my own time ☺️

Happy birthday, Mark! 🎉 You've already reacted to it but I would say Kanami's solo in Daydreaming is the most emotionally impactful solo of a BAND MAID song that I can think of. You did appear to pause right before her solo on that one, not during it, but still seemed to appreciate it. I do wonder if the interruption beforehand dampened the effect, though, unless that was just due to editing. Anyways, great reaction as usual. I liked the video as soon as I opened it and I'm not taking it back. 👍

The Hunky Dory Days for USA, Mexico and Japan fans continue as their 2023 10th Anniversary Concert series closes after they performed a whooping 70 of their over 120 superhit songs. And their big climax at the 17,000 seat Yokohama stadium in Nov 26 was unbelievable! But the 2024 Chapter Two of Band-Maid’s quest for World Domination is now underway. A live Band-Maid experience is not to be missed, if at all possible! Thx, Mark!

Mark Have a Very Happy Birthday!!! From Mexico. Influencer is definitely on of the 120 BM songs in my TOP 5, but When you listen to it Live, it will be in your 80 TOP 3 BM songs. Yo have no idea how chunky the Bass is live and the guitar is so crispy that just blows your mind and that is just mentioning these 2 ladies, then you add Akane's doble kicks, Miku's super chunky guitar cords and melodic vocals, Queen Saiki to the mix and........ ok I cant keep going is just too much!! in the best way possible.

Even when Kanami solos through an entire song, it's done in an ingeniously subtle way. Only a compositional genius could pull off a stunt like that ! 🤯

Miku is a genius with lyrics. Hunky dory is a reflection ( duel meaning) of the Japanese phrase Honki Dori that translates to - Take it seriously.

Happy circumnavigation of the Sun day! Influencer was the first BM song I ever heard, courtesy of the All Seeing Algorithm. When it started, I thought it was OK... then the drums in the chorus hit... and then MISA's bass solo happened... and a new obsession was born. This song is basically my super-villain origin story.

Happy Birthday! But did you change your sound setup? There's no Lows. It sounds like you're on the phone. I'm not saying you phoned this one in. There are literally no lows, even in the music. Anyway, that Hold 'Em line is a reference to Miku's gambling. Not only does she love the Gee Gees, she's also a Champion Poker Player! She came in second place in a Celebrity Texas Hold 'Em Tournament on Japanese TV. The other girls say she's really kind of a Dirty Old Man on the inside. She can out drink MISA, eats dried salmon flakes and has an old guys sense of humor.
