@@lihomanru Привет! Да, я живу в Торонто, Канада. Зимой здесь очень холодно. Все мои haworthia выращиваются в закрытом помещении круглый год. Они всегда под светодиодами растут, и им, кажется, это нравится. У нас также очень жаркое лето, иногда очень влажное, и очень важно, чтобы они были счастливы, потому что солнце тоже очень интенсивное. Я также выращиваю другие суккуленты. Это труднее поддерживать, чем haworthia. Поскольку коллекция haworthia очень дорогая, я решил не рисковать, а просто оставить их внутри.

Hi Cris, I have listed the breakdown of my substrate under Jeff Scotch Atom's question below. (very bottom, 1st question). Since that reply, I have fine tone the ingredients a little bit. I no longer use akadama as a top dressing because it breaks down too fast. I have removed it from all my pots and replaced it with turface. In a month's time, I will be doing an update of this video because I have acquired a number of higher end haworthia since this video was made. Thank you for watching! :)

I have 2 configurations set up for them. First is a glass shelving unit with 3 LED strips, 24watts, 6400K full spectrum LED on each shelf. Then next to the unit, there is a 48watts, 6400K full spectrum LED on one long table.

Hi Judy. I bought them from Japan and Taiwan nurseries. They have a rep in Vancouver with the proper permits for importing them and they get shipped over from there.

I water them on an average of once every 4 to 5 days. I have a fan on at night for 6 hours, therefore, the soil get dried out a little quicker. My soil mix is very gritty so it doesn't really hold a lot of moisture.

The potting consists of the bottom 1/4 filled with small hydroballs. Then my own soil mix to fill the roots and last, topped with 1/4 pure akadama. My soil mix consists of 30% Fafard cactus and succulent soil, , 20% perlite, 15% turface, 15% pumice, 10% horticultural charcoal, 5% black lava rock and 5% kanuma. I don't actually measure my ratio but this is about the percentage. As long as it is gritty and has some real soil component, it will be a great mix. My rule of thumb is, 30% soil and 70% grits. I've had great success with this mix. All my plants have healthy root systems.

The black top dressing you see in some of the pots is small sized bamboo charcoal. Some of these plants were actually grown in 100% horticultural charcoal where I bought them, therefore, the roots have accustomed to that environment. I wanted to provide similar growing conditions for them. Plants from Japan were all grown in 100% akadama! Since the Canadian climate differs so much from the far east, I have to add some soil in order for the substrate to retain some moisture.

En países fríos como Canadá, solo tenemos 6 meses para cultivar plantas en el exterior, así que creamos un área de cultivo de escenas para disfrutar de este hobby.
