Remember we have full watchalongs to every episode if you want to sync up your version of each episode and watch alongside us! Our next show we are covering is Abbott Elementary which will start being posted on the channel in 2 days but early access is already up on the Patreon: www.patreon.com/ReelTimeYT Thank you guys so much again
There is four volumes, the show is based around the first two volumes and after them there is a short book called Nick and Charlie, you could get through all of them in afternoon, like I did. Glad you enjoyed it, get ready for whats coming.
That touches me in such a profound way, that makes me cry every time I hear it. Being a 62 y/o man that didn't come out until a later age, I never had the opportunity to experience what Charlie is having with Nick, and at this point in time, the thought that I may leave this life without experience it, terrifies me! So when Charlie said that, it hit me in a very personal way.
@@catrachito60 i really hope you're able to have what charlie has with nick! As the teacher said in season 2 "there's no age limit to that"! And even if you don't it's okay wishing you the best x
Thank you so much for your reactions to Heartstopper. I'm a British gay man who grew up in the 70's and 80's under Thatcher and the appalling homophobia that was so deeply ingrained in our society back then. Seeing three young (presumably) straight guys react so positively to Heartstopper is a genuine surprise and an eye-opening joy. How times have changed! Heartstopper is a thing of unspeakable beauty and in time may be seen as a seminal moment in our cultural history. Thank you for your support boys, it is greatly appreciated. xxx
I can't even tell you guys how full my heart feels after watching you watch this show. Heartstopper has so much personal importance to me and you were the perfect audience. Thank you for watching and I can't wait for s2 and s3 ❤🍂
15:42 Fun fact the person on the right is the author/artist of the comics and the writer of the show Alice Oseman. Three seasons have been confirmed for this show. The first season is based on the first 2 volumes of the graphic novel, there are 4 out as of now, a last one is being worked on by Alice now. UPDATE: Alice announced the other day the fifth volume won't be the last, there's a sixth one!
Don’t worry guys,it’s not finished. There is going to be a season 2 & 3 coming. I am so happy and proud of all three of you guys. Thank you for being such great allies for the LGBTQ+ community. You guys are amazing. Love to you all❤
@@Mirarosie SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER: in next season they go to Paris with mr. Ajayi and other teacher from Elle's school, that teacher amd mr. Ajayi will have a... thing 👀
I swear you guys are the coolest most empathetic people ever, i havent had this much desire to watch films alongside people such as yourselves. Thank you for all the reactions you guys have been putting out.
a couple stuff: 1. we are getting a season 2, I think they're almost done making it? idk but it's supposed to come out sometime this year 2. small cameo on the train at the end: the person across from Nick and Charlie was Alice Oseman, the creator of the comics! 3. Olivia Coleman said that she forgot her line during the coming out scene because she was so moved by Kit Conner's performance, which I find incredibly wholesome legitimately one of my favorite shows ever, and if you get the chance I would highly recommend reading the comics as well :)))
Yep! Season two wrapped at the beginning of December. :) I can’t wait for it!I wonder though if it’s going to fit both books three and four or just be the third book. I guess we’ll find out. :)
I love Nick’s coming out scene and it moves me to tears every time bc I resonate so much with it. Fun Fact: both Olivia and Kit won an Emmy for this scene and their overall performance!
Well wasn't that just the cutest show ever! It makes my heart so happy that future generations will have these positive representations of love and acceptance.
Such a beautiful and wholesome love story between Charlie and nick played out throughout the season and just how perfect it ended with Olivia Coleman the icon and legend accepting nick as bi gets me teary eyed every time being bi myself and thankfully having loving accepting family myself as I know many others in the lgbtq+ community may not be so lucky. I really enjoyed these reactions and yes guys there will be a season 2
There really is. And I know they’ve introduced new characters and given more screen time to other characters in season 2 like Issac but I hope they don’t take away from Nick and Charlie as there is still so much to their story. However they’ve added more scenes and screen time to characters like Tara and Darcy and Elle and Tao and Mr Ajayi and and even introduced new characters like Imogen and Isaac in season 1 and yet it didn’t take away from any of the original story and they were even able to add new amazing scenes that weren’t in the comic like the milkshake date and sports day and it made it even better so fingers crossed it works amazing for season 2 🤞🏻
yeah yeah yeah plus all the graphic novels are abt them and their story although we see a lot more of the secondary characters in the show than we do on the comics so that’s a good change
They wrapped filming the second season already and Alice Oseman announced a couple days ago that there will be volume 5 by the end of the year and the 6 is coming soon too. This season covers the first two volumes, so we can expect two more seasons!
seems as if you and i are the only ones that heard about #6.........maybe she will eventually follow nick and charlie to Uni with guest spots for the rest of the cast.
@@roncaron8939 thas what i thought, because book 5 in the beginning in the webtoon we are getting close to the plot of "Nick and Charlie" is getting more colse to the date the book is set.
Guyssss it was so awesome see you react to this wonderfull show. Also... Can we take a moment to appreciate how into it Rob was? I mean i could see the emotions on his face
Thanks for covering the first season of Heartstopper! Such a great series with an amazing cast. Hope you guys will keep going when Season 2 and 3 come out. !
Just the way Tori's eyes changed when Charlie said it would be better if he didn't exist broke me the first time I watched this and I cried again this time too. I watched this show at a very difficult time in my life and it really did make me feel so much better.
When Olivia Colman says I wasn't born in the 18th century it was a non to her roll in the queen's favourite playing the bisexual queen, there is also 2 more seasons coming the 2nd season should be out soon 😊
I have watched nearly every reaction to heartstopper, and you guys are great. You get really involved in the characters and you really root for all of your favorite relationships to get together. I’m not trying to be presumptive, but I feel like you guys are straight . And I love the fact that you reacted to the show both because it’s an awesome show and also I hope it encourages other straight guys to watch it maybe with their friends. Because most guys are eventually going to be fathers, and everybody can have a Queer child . Heartstopper is such a heartwarming show that I think it can really bridge the gap between Straight parents and queer kids and maybe but you reacting to the show you encouraged your audience to give it a go. Thanks again for an awesome series of reactions that I’m definitely tune in for when you guys react to season two .
The scene where nick comes out to his mom is BY FAR one of if not my favorite scene in any show or movie ever purely because of the strong aubtle acting from Kit. The way his eyes and facial features move and his voice hitches just so, hes such an amazing actor and this scene has me in tears every time I see it. Also fun fact: Olivia Coleman had the same thought because theres a blooper where she couldnt help but start crying uncontrollably at his confession and its one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Love Kit and love Olivia.
A few other commenters mentioned it, and I'm sure you looked it up, but S2 and S3 are confirmed! This season covered the first two volumes of the novels, and there are 5 And unfortunately for some of your hopes at the end... Heartstopper is entirely Nick and Charlie's story. In the graphic novels, the side characters are actually barely featured. They mostly just pop up in Nick and Charlie's periphery, except for a few sections.. The show fleshes them out a LOT. Isaac and Imogen don't even exist in the novels. So good news I guess is that there's still a lot of Nick and Charlie's story left, bad news is S2 isn't going to shift the spotlight to Tao and Elle :P Great reaction! I'm usually crying from Nick walking off of the field until the end :)
The guy on the intercom is incredibly famous gay British actor Stephen Fry. He doesn't even have screen time, they just offered it to him and he was like hell yeah I wan't to be involved.
Your guys’ uploads are literally what getting me through these times, I can’t explain the joy I feel whenever I see a new video from you, we recently moved to a new house and it’s been very hard adjusting and I miss my old room but watching y‘ll puts a smile on my face💗
This show is so cuuuuuuute, it gave me so many warm fuzzy feelings. Nick's conflict and character growth was too fukin real, though. I lived his exact questioning experience when I was his age, and I was 15 in 2005!! I'm also glad for the bisexual lead representation; we don't get enough of it even nowadays--let alone positive rep. So even though I'm a girl and he's a boy, I felt seen as a disaster bi ;-; I had heard about Kit Connor's (Nick's actor) kerfluffle of a coming out in the fall on Twitter when it happened, and now that I've watched the show, I'm EVEN MORE angry that he was bullied into coming out instead of being able to come out when he felt ready. REAL PEOPLE CAN'T QUEERBAIT, INTERNET! STOP IT! HE'S JUST A BOY!!! LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!
Luckily they are making a heart stopper season 2 and 3!!! Also no spoilers in the second book there is a major moment between Tao and Elle that’s worth waiting for and book two’s story line it is very focused on the group !
Heartstopper's been getting a lot of shitty comments lately, especially on twitter (apparently it's "too cringey" and also "too wholesome", "too unrealistic") so being able to watch you guys' reactions to the season really made my day and I appreciate your honesty reviews. A little positivity was super needed!
Gentlemen, you might be surprised to know that the announcer during sports-day, was someone you've met recently in RWRB as King James III......Mr Stephen Fry!!!
That was Stephen Fry making the sports day announcement. Famous British actor, writer and director… very distinctive voice . Also, if you liked this show.. as others have mentioned you should watch Young Royals… very different… only similarity is the the two main characters.. one is “out” and the other technically isn’t…..
Absolutely loved your reactions to my favourite show of the last 12 months. I can only echo what others have said here and it has been equally heartwarming to see the genuine affection you guys had for this too, especially as straight guys. Thank you! Roll on season 2 - hopefully we will have it soon!
Charlie's sister Tori actually has her own book based off of her called, Solitaire. It came out before Heartstopper where Nick and Charlie were originally introduced, Alice Oseman (the creator of Heartstopper) decided to make Heartstopper because they were interested in how Nick and Charlie got together.
Heartstopper already got renewed for 2 more seasons! It was a HUGE success and it got a 99% fresh tomatoes I believe, also season 2 is coming next fall I think they already finished filming a while ago, and it’s going to continue Nick and Charlie’s storyline just like in the books and webtoon! Alice did confirm that just like in the books, Tao and Elle will get together in season 2 and Issac will be getting more screen time, and there are new characters coming in as well! There will also be some things revealed about Charlie that are very important to the story, hope y’all react to season 2! Great reactions💙
season 2 wrapped filming on december of 2022. Alice Oseman the creator of the graphic novels and executive producer of the show confirmed it and that they are almost done with post production editing!! btw heartstopper was renewed for TWO MORE SEASONS one month after its release on may 2022!! so there is going to be at least s2 AND 3!!!
I remember in the early 00's when i was a teen at school, i was straight, but had boys calling me "lesbian" as though that was the worst thing in the world and it really upset me. I couldn't imagine how much worse it'd be for someone who was actually LGBT+ to have to go through that. I'm glad times have changed, although there is still homophobia, as shown in this show. But there is also a lot more support for LGBT+ The scene with Nick and his mum always tugs at my heart, that's how every parent should be, and it destroys me to know there are parents who wilfully hurt their own children (mentally, physically) just because they don't fit their ideals. My child came out in 2020 (they were 12), we were just eating lunch and they said they wanted to stay over a friends house on a particular day. It took me a moment to realise that was Valentine's Day and i just teasingly said "Oh, Valentine's Day, are they your girlfriend?" (i had suspicions before that) and they turned red and got shy but admitted to it and i just always emphasised that they could talk to me about anything and i was always open with them and watched shows, like Heartstopper, with them - even before that, i made no secret about being friends with people who were part of LGBT+ Just last year they also came out as trans. I couldn't be prouder, though i am pretty scared with all the stuff that's been going on in America recently. England tends to follow a lot of what America does. I haven't read the graphic novels, but i'm really hoping the next season touches more on Elle and her journey Your reactions were so beautiful.
This show is so wholesome, and I also had a happy cry during the scenes with Nick coming out to his mom and a couple of scenes between Charlie and Nick. ❤
I love that this show poses questions like, "What if you could have the life that you want without losing the things most important to you? What if you could be yourself every day without compromise? Maybe it's worth a try." (Literally questions the university therapist I'm seeing just asked me to think about.) I think these questions make the show work as well as it does despite its lack of conflict and simplicity of storytelling because these questions can speak to a lot of people for a lot of reasons. Especially people who aren't "out" yet or who are still figuring out who they are, still questioning and picking apart emerging parts of their identity that they feel shouldn't be there and have suppressed for so long because of their families or their environment/culture. Sometimes the pressure can be coming from random people in our lives who we've so far been cool with but that we know that if they found out who we really are, it would immediately incite problems and potential harm to us socially or even physically (as was demonstrated with Nick's relationships w his rugby ex-buddies). For these reasons, I think it's very brave for people like you guys, especially as young men, to express their views, support, and humanity publicly and vulnerably so that others can know that there ARE good people out there who can love you exactly how you are and who want to see you have your happy ending. I felt so much joy when you guys shed tears of joy and relief and sadness for these characters and scenes, because the world is so full of ugliness and destruction, but a single tear could water a seed enough to help grow a thing of beauty. Thank you for you guys' reactions to this and other shows/movies! I hope you guys keep doing lots more LGBTQ+ media--it's always fun and healing in times like this where the world is trying to extinguish the entire community 😭. Next, I'd suggest maybe Killing Eve! The first season is directed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and it's hilarious, fun, and very psychologically interesting. For an amazing movie (that's also kind of sad, but also brilliant) that is about trans identity in light of all the anti-trans bills coming out, try Laurence Anyways. It has brilliant acting, dialogue, and is super interesting and deals with tough topics between the main couple. My only critique of it is that I wish they'd have cast an actually trans woman for the role, but it was from 2012 and the politics of casting oppression-appropriately is a relatively recent conversation to become mainstream. 💜🖤 Much love and good vibes x
Given the great success of this first season, Netflix immediately announced the renewal for a second and third season. Alice Oseman (you saw her in a small cameo sitting on the train while she draws) the author of the comics has suggested a closure in four seasons. The released comics are divided into 4 books and two more will be released to conclude the story of Nick and Charlie and their friends. The first season ends with the beach scene from the second book, but there is still so much to face especially for Nick and Charlie their story is far from over. Season 2, which will probably be released by the summer, will touch on very important issues of which there have already been some small hints scattered in the first season (you have to pay attention to the details) and it will be very moving to see how they deal with it. Thanks for your reaction guys, it was so much fun reviewing Heartstopper with you.
I discovered you guys through this Heartstopper reactions and I can just say I LOVE YOU. You guys are amazing and I love every single reaction and opinion you gave. I'm so in love with Heartstopper and it's not even out but I wanna see your reaction already, we all might cry (I already read the 4 comics, 5 is about to be released and 6 is in the process). I can't thank you enough, I've been having such bad days and your videos made them way better 💗 Following you now ✨
There’s a whole colour theory about the Sports Bib and I love it. The blue and red signify states of being. The former being those who are sorted and the latter are those in a state of conflict.
That scene of Nick coming out was done so well that Olivia Colemen forgot her lines because she was overwhelmed by how Kit Connor did that scene. There are two more seasons.
The show was renewed for two more seasons! They’ve already filmed the second season! The next stories (according to the graphic novels) are much more based on Charlie and his mental health, but also Nick coming out to people. We do touch more on Tao and Elle!
FINALLY !!!!!!!! I've been refreshing the RU-vid page for over an hour waiting for your reaction to the final episode! and I really hope that you will make a reaction to the young royals! I'm sure you'll love it! The acting in this series is INCREDIBLE!
The intercom voice announcements are done by the Headmaster played by Stephen Fry. National treasure here in the UK, he is a comedian, actor and writer, who is gay himself and has been very open about his life story in his biographies and on LGBTQ+ topics. I don't think he was in Wednesday though like you thought 😅
although i already saw this reaction on the patreon, seeing you guys cry over the coming out scene still gets the waterworks going for me😭😭 can't wait to see you guys react to s2 when it comes out this year (if you're able to ofc🥰)
Tori (Charlie's Older sister) = best character ever! ;P For the record it's tea she's always drinking! ;P Principal = Stephen Fry prominent British actor, broadcaster, comedian, director and writer who is also gay. Yes Charlie's smile makes everyone happy. ;) The graphic novel goes wayyyyy past this. Easter egg - the author of the graphic novel was next to them on the train at the end there. Season 2 has finished filming and is due out this year. Thanks so much for watching this and others have said - it warms my heart to get this kind of reaction from you guys.
I felt like that in high school I couldn’t talk about my identity with anyone because I barely knew what my ideals at the time and now I do and I feel so happy
Aghhh I’m so glad you guys watched and enjoyed it! This series means so much to me, much love to you guys for reacting to it! Can’t wait for season 2 and 3 🤧😄☺️
You three had such genuine positive reactions to this show, and your own happiness was super contagious. I caught myself smiling through most of your reactions because its easy to tell you're having a good time watching. Thank you again for watching, and looking forward to seeing season 2 with you when it comes out. ^^
A Korean show with short Episodes called Mr. Heart (2020) has a similar happy feeling. There is also a movie version that is just the episodes put together.
I think tao kept focusing on others this entire season that he never really focused on what he wanted, so the mental realization that he likes elle at the end seems pretty satisfactory for what’s to come in s2. I’m sure we’ll get something then, and they finished filming so hopefully it’ll come soon!
