I've got the '89 model. Had it for almost 35 years now. They are a blast! I love mine and no plans on selling it. Probably give it to a grandchild someday. Cheers!
Cool vid, I have a 88' Honda NX250 that I bought from someone who had it stored in a climate controlled garage and it had sat for 25 years, it had a 95' license plate on the bike. It had 2300 miles on it and that's what really made me drive super fast to dude's house, plus he said first come first serve because there were lots wanting it. So I lucked out because guy lived 30 minutes away. Now It's at just a little over 8k miles on it. This NX is the best bike I've ever owned period. Just before I bought my NX I had just recently sold my Harley FXR 1340cc and then I found my NX. So I went from Harley to Honda and not one regret.
Anyway about the NX, I've owned it since May 2021. All I had to do is put a new tube in the front tire and I replaced the front master cylinder and changed the fluids, and bam I was on the road in the wind. I rode with the original tires for nearly 2k miles and then I put a set of Shinko 712 street tires on it because lately I mainly ride street. But when I ride dirt I just switch to my dirt tires. Only mods I've done so far is I took the original handlebars off only because they are too low IMO. So I put a pair of pro taper sport minis and man what a huge difference in handling & comfort big time (I highly recommend trying that). And a set of Nelson-Rigg dual sport RG-020 saddle bags they come in handy and fit like a glove I love em for sure. Hopefully you still have your NX if so I'd love to hear about it. Take Care & Keep Rockin🤘
I have a '92 NX 250, got it as my first bike about 2 years ago. Basically original condition. Guys who sold mine had a second one for sale. I guess they must have sold many in the 90's around europe, I know of a third one and even seen some 650's around the city. Had no idea how good it was, mostly got it because I really like how it looks, mine is the white version, looks a lot more 90's. Quite a few people in their 50's come to me and say they had one back then. Can't think of selling mine unless I really have to. Really enjoy riding it. Nice to have found this video.
We love hearing the story, would love to see a picture of your bike and set up. Email us at fulldumpmoto@gmail.com a photo of your bike and we will feature it on our Instagram page! Thank you for checking out our video, we really appreciate it!
Our NX250 was purchased 20 years ago. Great bike! Was produced for decades. Only sold for 3 years in USA due to poor sales. This bike was so far ahead of its time, Americans could not comprehend its niche.
I bought my 88 nx 250 with 900 miles on it in 1997. I lived in Alaska at the time. Honda would do very well to bring this bike back! 26 liquid cooled 4 valve horsepower! The bike kept up with my buddies 1995 Dr 350! Modern 250 cc thumpers actually have LESS horsepower than this bike. Anybody with a surron or similar ebikes would love this bike! I saw tests where this bike would go from 0-60 in 6.1 seconds. Thats very impressive. I used to race anybody willing to go off the line and the bike did well, it surprized people with how quick it was to 60. After that the acceleration wasnt great and would top out arou d 80-85. Highway speeds were definitely doable. And the range on these bikes is quite decent. I believe it's a 2.4 gallon tank including the reserve and will go over 150 miles on a fill! I don't think there is an ebike out there with this kind of power that will give you even 100 miles on a charge. These bikes are an absolute gem! Back when they came out there wasn't a big market for the bike but I believe if it were to come out now the bike could be exactly the same as my 88 and people would be extremely happy with it!! It was very reliable and easy to work on.
I've certainly got happy memories of the NX I owned 15 years ago now. I'd have another but here in England people are asking silly money for all 80s and 90s 250s.
Hi, I have the same bike even same colour and in love with it! It is a Swiss knife of the bike, came do it all. They were not that rare and the production was longer than just 2-3 years. The thing is that it had a different name on different market: North America - honda nx250, Europe - honda dominator 250,Asia - honda ax1.Cheers!
Hey from another NX250 owner! I developed a heavy duty skidplate and a cargo rack if you plan to take it offroad much. These are a great little bike and I think you'll have fun!
it was nicknamed the Mermaid. I got a first registration 1997 (they stopped making them in 1993) with 13k km on the dial. It need a little help on the highway as it only manages 105km/h but other than that a great bike!
I remember seeing this on the showroom floor at the local honda dealership and thinking how nice the styling was on it. but the bike i really drooled over was the Dr.Big Suzuki DR750 - yeah the duckbill one... found your video because a local guy here has one for sale for $3000 and i wanted to refresh my memory. Im looking for an adv bike but really 250cc is just a tad bit underpowered for me.
Saw on of these pop up for €1950 asking price, looks like a really offroad capable bike. Only downside its doesmt have 21 inch front. Might check this on out, seems like a good commuter and offroader occasionaly highway.
I own one of these little beauties. (Mine is white) My dad bought it around 1990, it was a demo model at the Honda dealer in Red Deer AB. He gave it to me as a graduation gift in 1994. It’s been mine ever since. He, and I, have received multiple offers to buy it. Not for sale LOL. I also own 3 Harley’s but this is the only one I’d never consider selling.
I bought one in the late 90's for 200$ had a fouled spark plug. I stripped all the plastics off it and beat the living piss out of it in the woods. Looking for another one today but the prices of them are crazy high
Bought one today, just went out to say goodnight to it, what a dick.. Big day tomorrow, well excited, the few kms i did today were really fun, super light, nimble and pokey and sounds lovely too, proper fun bike. Update, love it and its true the red ones go faster😂😂😂
Hello everyone, I also own a little mermaid - mermaid = NiXe in German. This bike is so much fun despite not being a hp or speed monster - just fun to ride the NX. But it rattles when cold. After a few minutes this noise disappears. Do you have any ideas what that could be.
I have the same one 88 special limited edition bury the speedometer eh lol 100mph mine goes lol smoke my buddies klr 650 I put a supertrap exhaust just rebuilt everything but the crank they suck in mud or loose gravel dirt an sand Is ok
Find a 650nx you will love it , better bike then a klr had both and the nx 650 was better . On and off road klr is a toad and to top heavy and crap on trails the nx650 was better on both , klr was only good on curvy mountain paved roads and fire roads.
