The problem with Nigeria is maintenance culture . Nigerians fail to realize that history and tourism are interconnected to an extent and this are things that attract tourism.

Akwa Ibom is NOT a City it is a STATE in South South Nigeria with several cities.eg the City of Uyo which is the capital of the state.There is the city of Ikot Ekpene (oldest Local Government in West Africa),The City of Eket(where all the Oil companies are),etc!But thank you for Showcasing our beautiful state.We have a very kind and active governor Pastor Umo Eno whom we fondly call Unku Golden who is making amazing strides in every area via the Arise Agenda.He's building more roads,revamping the schools,the healthcare system,the agricultural sector,housing for the homeless,improving opportunities for the disabled,etc to name a few.Proud to be an Akwaibomite🎉🙌👍

Yes, I believe we are in agreement, Bigwillz. My main concern, from an outsiders prospective, was that I've too often seen these beautiful areas be overdeveloped without regard for preserving the natural landscape. There's nothing wrong with people wanting to make the best use of the natural assets available, but too often developers, unchecked, will overdevelop the very asset they wished to exploit. Developers sometimes let making money be their only concern.

We have other beech stretches that haven't been developed nearly enough. Perhaps we should demonstrate first that we can maintain what we have before moving on to the next and start erecting artificial structures therein which will surely be abandoned within 10 years.
@ermalansini5113
@ermalansini5113 2 месяца назад
@@finalwarningformankindlove3260 You can't develop nature oga, you sound naive and the draw of those places is the fact that it hasn't been fully commercialized and maintains their natural state. That's why people complain about certain tourists zones like the Bahamas because it's has been over commercialized to the point it no longer holds is natural value. What that person said is the truth. Leave nature alone, human greed is disgusting.
@fistandpen2505
@fistandpen2505 2 месяца назад
@@ermalansini5113 this is stupid. Of course you can develop nature. If you build tourism infrastructure around a beach front it is developed. That's the point. There is a middle point between over-commercialization and underutilization. There is nobody on that beach, and the point is if you create an opportunity for people to use it conveniently, they can then appreciate it in its natural state.

Can't the state government take better care of that Lugard former home and office if the federal government abandoned it, because its a glory to the state to be hosting historical memorial for the nation. We had rulers that are sitting on raw materials that will brings in the needed money but don't know to process them to become, yet they come to western world with not those resources to borrow money from them. Regarding investing in beaches, it is sad its not been developed, however, I must also say that most times, locals of these places are also not open to investment. Nonetheless, a lot more needs to be done. The fastest way to develop these beaches and oceans in southern Nigeria is to ensure that the ports there work. Right now 95% of things shipped into Nigeria go through Lagos.

That's why many of us still believe Nigeria should break up. Places like this WILL NEVER realize their full potential while still in Nigeria. That's why crude oil will never sustain Nigeria as the only mean of revenue. That's why other places will remain overcrowded and the resources overstretched. If we break up, the different countries will be able to discover their worth and their true potential and even compete developmental-wise, thereby facilitating rapid growth of these countries. At the minimum, Nigeria should go back to the regional system of government!

We have the best weather, vegetation and topography in the world and yet we do not appreciate it. Like you pointed out they will travel to other tropical islands for vacation and show off rather than their own shoreline. I still remember the video you did about the TINAPA project that is now in ruins! ... and the OBUDU Cattle Ranch that seems to be heading in the same appalling conditions in Calabar. What a shame. I am sure many of these coastal islands in Nigeria are as big as some these vacation Islands - no shade on my people from the Island and yet no initiative to develop the areas. @so9487
@so9487 2 месяца назад
@@amoatv3292 It's important to understand the history of slavery. Before colonization, slavery was Africa's main economy. In the mid-7th century, the Arabs invaded Africa and spread Islam. They enslaved many Africans and transported them to the Arabian Peninsula via the Trans-Saharan slave trade route where millions of the men were castrated to prevent them from reproducing (that's why there are not that many blacks in the Arabian Peninsula). Some of these slaves were captured by force, while others were purchased from tribal chiefs in exchange for gold and other goods. Centuries later, African tribal chiefs began selling slaves to European invaders (not colonizers, who arrived much later). It's worth noting that colonizers actually outlawed slavery. I highly recommend a visit to the Badagry Museum in Nigeria if you are interested in learning about the history of slavery. It is worth noting that in addition to enslaving Africans, the Arabs also enslaved millions of Europeans during the Barbary slave trade. Interestingly, some of the descendants of those European slaves are now living in North Africa.

That beautiful project was killed by politics.I saw a video by a youtuber last year, and my heart bled 😢. Yesterday, 6th April 2024, i read in the papers that landmark resort in lagos Island, ( a $200m) is about to lose a large chunk of its property to make way for a coastal road that was designed recently. Moreover before Nigeria tourist industry will be open these two important issues must put in orders, (1)Nigeria need to conduct free and fair elections, because free and fair elections send strong positive signals to outside world.
