Im glad you decided to do your own version of the 3 minute review series from the escapist. If it means smaller indie projects and games get the spotlight they need im all for it.

To be fair, when you're working at a corporate site you have to cover those games to drive the immense amount of traffic to keep your jobs. It's what people are searching for, and how you drive traffic. 3MR was great for us, but was never a revenue driver. We did it cause we loved it. Now at Second Wind, we can cover this stuff whenever we want and it doesn't matter if it does 10,000 views or 100,000 views because we're primarily driven by subscriptions. Traffic isn't our metric for success, the fan-funding is!@@hazukichanx408

@@SecondWindGroup Honestly, this is the kind of review that's needed more. Well, at least, in my opinion. So many reviews consider the politics of things like which publishers to please, which buzz words to use when describing the game, what obligations to fill, etc. This is the first review in a REALLY long time that actually makes me want to go out a buy a game. I feel that if more reviews are like this more indie games would be highlighted and the game industry, as a whole, would be more interesting, diverse and healthy.

You sold me on this! I doubt you're getting any commission for any sales, so here's something from a happyy buyer :) I'm very happy Bytesized exists. I dunno if it's because of RU-vid's algorithm, but I don't really get hit with a lot of indie game reviews (actually didn't know A Highland Song released 'til this video, and I was very much interested after seeing the debut trailer). Looking forward to more!

I love that this year has such a wonderful set of bookends, with Hi Fi Rush at the beginning and A Highland Song at its end.

3:47 I love that games are trending away from railroading decision trees. This game and several others (*cough* Baldur’s Gate 3) this year have decisions that feel like they matter. I’ll gladly take more of it!

I would have never heard of this game if not for it showing up here on Second Wind, and in 3 minutes you absolutely sold me on it. I mean, the premise itself would've sold me if I'd run into it, but the way you describe the game and its standout moments without spoiling the experience, with your beautiful voice and cadence, really made it a no-brainer. Thanks!

This seems likes the perfect game for me! Story focused, beautiful environments, and puzzles. I’ll check it out! Edit: Just finished playing it and I love it! No spoilers, but I highly recommend! It has a great replayability sooooooo, I gonna go disappear for a few days! :P

Oh I am going to have to check this game out. The multi plane 2D style hooked me, the music kept me. The characters animation style is reminiscent of a few Thunder Lotus games. Aloha & mahalo, Marty!

This was a great video and really sold me on the game. As a lowland scot, I'm naturally a bit worried Scotland in games will alway be potrayed a bit Brigadoon, but this looks good enough to push through my cynicism :)

What a beautiful review. I just hear the love that you have for this game, and it's written so eloquently. I love the extra breathing room and creativity that you're allowed now outside of the 3MR format. Props to the editing team as well for keeping everything visually interesting as well despite it being made mostly of gameplay footage. I look forward to more Bytesized videos!

I knew of this game but didn't think it was for me and never bothered looking any deeper. Only checked out this vid cuz it was a new series and I was curious what the format would be like. Love the format but it sounds like I should love the game too so I'll definitely rectify that mistake.

With stuff like the Game Awards spending all their time showcasing massive AAA titles that don't need the help, then devoting 5s to a single "best indie game award" where there's not even an acceptance speech... please keep showcasing lots of smaller indie games - for me that's where the truly new experiences lie, games with heart and soul and passion, where one or two people had an idea and ran with it. I want to see more of this, and less of that.

I like how they are separating the 3MR into longer reviews and take more time to elaborate on the critic's preferences. A review is all the more useful when you understand the reviewer's values.
