If you are inclined to ride bicycles, the line between Whitby and Scarborough is now part of the National Cycle Network as part of Route 1, locally known as The Cinder Track. Absolutely beautiful scenery, lots of old infrastructure still in-situ including the abandoned (but still open for wanderers) Ravenscar Tunnel

It is also still open to hikers to walk the 21 mile stretch for those who prefer the slower method 😁

It was short sighted closing the railways to Whitby. Because the main moors roads can’t be widened to dual carriageway, so now everybody has to sit behind tractors, caravans, and annoying road works.

The producers of this film is wrong about when the last BR passenger trains ran on this line. They ran services in November 1966 to get children to school in Whitby from Goathland after heavy snow storms blocked the roads. This caused the Minister of Transport to reconsider the closure. As for Dr Beeching, he was just carrying out the intentions of the LNER. C. B. Fawcett's, Reader in Geography at Leeds University, said of the Whitby to Malton: "the small population of the area it connects and its sharp curves and gradients make it if little value". He said this in one of the pamphlets he wrote for the LNER. The Whitby to Loftus line was the first route to Whitby to be severed, saving BR around £60,000 in 1957 Pounds in the maintenance costs for the viaducts, tunnels and bridges alone.

I'm not sure why you believe the threat of someone stealing this video is so great you were compelled to include dire warnings in the opening credits. This is more of a "what I did on my holiday" video than a documentary created through hours of hard work and filled with hours of research. I'm not saying this to criticize you, but to put things in perspective and suggest you get a grip on reality, old fellow. Bottom line: If you don't want your work stolen, DO NOT PUT IT ON RU-vid
