Just a suggestion I hard boil eggs in pressure cooker and mash them up and feed them back to chickens for added protein and calcium, helps to cut down on feed cost. we get about 40 eggs a day right now. Thanks for sharing your life,🌻
When my chickens would slack off laying I would make them a big batch of scrambled eggs for several days and egg production would always increase to full production. I always fed oyster shell so calcium was never a problem.
@@loritanner4478 I have raised organic, free range layers on my No kill farm❤️ and have never once done anything more than toss the egg shells back into slop bucket and feed it all back to the chickens and geese. Never have they gone after their own freshly laid eggs, never. Also, my naturalpathic doctor strongly recommended my dehydrating my own hens eggs without washing out inside membrane. After dehydrated, grind to powder, encapsulate and take for the ultimate calcium supplement, better than any on the market. Do Not use store bought eggs ever as they are soaked/washed in strong bleach water!
Bought Azure onions for the first time, they are HUGE, MASSIVE! So fresh! Nothing like the small " shedding" onions you get at the stores... Truly worth the $$
I used to get food also from coops in the 1980's and 1990's. Now I am by myself, I do not use the coop. I used to love shopping this way. I love buying 50 lbs carrots 🥕 to make juice. I am THANKFUL that people still use coops. It can be worth it. GOD BLESS YOU 🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️🀄🀄🀄🀄🀄✝️🛐✝️🛐✝️🛐🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️🀄✝️🛐
Aww, I love that you made some future friends at the Azure drop. We're in a similar situation being newcomers to a small town and making friends can be so tough.
Horseradish is super easy to grow! And it’s a perennial. I left our first batch in the ground for a full year. When we pulled it I saved some and replayed and it just comes back. I live in Ontario Canada and zero issue leaving them in for a full year Worth the 7$ for the plant since it will last me forever. Needs very little care and does great in full Sun and drout
Hey Stivers.. I was so happy to say hello at the Azure drop .. hope that was ok. We are homesteaders at heart and doing our best. We are in our 70's and gardening and azuring, had a freeze dryer and processed a lot of stuff then sold the dryer to recoup the $$. Your kids are precious btw.. just precious. They stood there watching the unloading and were taking it all in. Happy homesteading you guys.. keep up the good work!
Wannbe Homesteader here! 🙋🏼♀️ This is my first video of yalls to watch and I loved it and immediately subscribed to yall! Can’t wait to watch more of yalls videos! 💕
Our work at home never ends, I feel like I never have time for myself as a homemaker, definitely the hardest job in the world. Love watching you guys💕🙏🏼🪅🎏😻💕
New to your channel, would you please share your recipe for you breakfast casserole? Haven’t been able to see all your videos yet. ❤️ from LeRoy Illinois
Hi All. Love watching your videos so much happiness and joy. Jen if you don’t mind can I give you a very simple recipe which you can store long term, in Europe it’s called Mirepoix & consists of = diced carrots, Celery & onion, in Uk freeze drying machine are very very expensive ( approximately $4500). I dehydrate mine and put in a Mylar bag vacuum seal and store. We don’t have access to the large pressure canning you use in USA, mostly we water bath, Iv have done carrots and I didn’t like the texture ( many homestead groups say the same). The Mirepoix is a great way to store a basic veg mix ( which is the standard ingredients for most dishes) try a few trays and see what you think. Also try water glass some of your eggs ready for winter when your chickens don’t lay many, the are great for anything cooked, omelette, scrambled eggs, baking, ect. It’s what my nanna used too do on her farm in Ireland many years ago. Oh forgot to say try doing egg muffins for breakfast or lunch, so easy and once cooked can be frozen and then you can have a fabulous easy breakfast or lunch for the family, my chicken always helped and made their own tray with the ingredients they wanted. Much love to you all. 💕💕💕💕
I do the same thing with my eggshells. If I get too many and don’t need them for the garden I crush them and feed them back to my chickens to help them with calcium for egg production.
We drive almost an hour for our Azure Standard order. We are in East Tennessee. I use to be a coordinator before we moved back home. I’m looking for a place to start one local and run it here. We love their products and we have the same driver we had before he moved. Kerwin is so nice.
This makes me excited, we are moving to Seymour, TN in May. This will be a big move and first time moving out of our home state WA. Thanks for sharing😊
Ok I tapped the link so I hope it works.... since I can only find horse raddish 1 place & it has been out of stock for a while I added it to our cart! I'm so excited!!!
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome, my favorite couple with children!!! You two never sit still, your going and doing all the time!!! Wow, to be young again, wishful thinking!! I am learning from you two, and your children are so Lucky to have parents like you two, I’m proud of you and I’m not even your Mamas!! God’s Blessings to you all, always,🙌🏻😘🙏🌹🌹🌹🌹😍😍🌷🌷🌷🌷🙌🏻🌹🙌🏻🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏🐝🐝🐖🐖🐇🐇
Hey!!! That’s my azure drop!! Would have loved to see you guys! I didn’t have an order this time!! Please let us know when you are picking up in North Knox again!! I love your channel!
One of my most favorite things is freeze dried celery. It the one thing I feel is necessary and mine was limp and smelly in the drawer. Now I have wonderful fresh celery on demand
You can just put one of those pieces of horseradish in water until it starts to root and then plant it. I ordered it from a seed catalog and what you get is the same thing as azures! Wish I had known and I wouldn’t have ordered from a seed company.
I’m in CA and my Azure is sometimes delayed by days. Growing pains! I got a 25 lb bag of whole wheat pasta for .11 a lb because it was just after the Best Buy date. It’s fantastic! Jen you are so great in the garden and kitchen you need to make all your catsup for the year after tomato season! Thanks for sharing your journey!
I was getting tired just watching you guys. For me personally it’s impossible to make absolutely everything from scratch, especially if you have to plant, grow and harvest it first . These days we are all just doing the best we can . Give yourself grace. It’s not an all or nothing proposition anyway. Your kids are awesome 🤩
@@grammiekaren1343 she wasn't saying she was tired of watching them. She was saying they are so busy doing so much it makes us tired just watching them. 😊
Now I see why I my bread flour and mixed frozen veggies were out of stock! You got them! 🤣 Oh well, I'll order next time! Love y'alls videos. Keep up the good work!
when my kids were young i used to blend up mixed veggies and put it in the sauce as they grew the veggies started to get non-blended now my kids have to have veggies with spaghetti lol hugsssss
It has actually never occured to me that people would really say unkind anything to you all😟. How terribly, terribly jealous those people must actually be. Such sad people. Each of you are such wonderful Blessings to each of us. Thank you for all you give so selflessly. God Bless Brook🙋🍏🍎 and Opy 🐕💖 and Myah Leilani🐕🦺❤️, too😍
We are overwhelmed with eggs right now too. Getting 2 dozen a day plus 6 duck eggs per day for my little fam of 4. LOL I NEED a freeze dryer but its a little further down the save/priority list right now.
Truly love your channel...out of curiosity I googled what Lima beans are considered...( I hate them) to my amazement they are considered a fruit..lol who knew ..
You should be able to plant one of those horseradish roots! I suggest planting in a bed of their own, up here in the north, it can get invasive if you don't contain it.
Our azure stop was the one before yours. I would have brought you some elderberry starts if I had known you guys were so close. I sent you an email on January 29 with info to contact me. You can have all the starts you want.
Have you ever used brown sugar with your blueberries? I do some white and some brown an you have two total different flavors. Brown sugar is my favorite though. I usually have 6-8 gallons a year and it's great having a different flavor.
have you ever thought of water glassing eggs? Also are there any neighbours you could sell to? You definitely have an abundance of (magnificent coloured) eggs
Thanks for sharing Should put a sign out fresh eggs $5 a dozen if not more a friend of mine did that she makes $30 a day but that’s if u have enough chickens thanks again many blessings
Oh my goodness! I don’t know what you just put in the oven but that looks delicious! Would you please share? Thank you for these videos. I’m a new subscriber as well as new to Azure.
Can you break the eggs up and feed them to your pig or other animals? Celery secret for just eating it...clean, cut to container size, fill with water, put in the frig and taste the magic! Try it and let me know what you think.
I feel totally overwhelmed at all you all do. Do you ever sit down and just chill? I really love watching your videos though. I guess when things get worse over the year, you will be living comfortably. 🙂
I just got my 1st Azure order. I will try your link next time & see if it works X-D Zach asked: What it this Azure thing everyone talks about? I replied watch the video & find out. ;-)
I love to see a man who understands how much work a stay at home mom does...especially one who homeschools...my husband thinks all I do is watch TV all day...yet food gets cooked, house gets clean 💪🤷
I've been making a lot of quiche lately. Eggs are coming faster than we can use or give away. I would love to have a freeze dryer, but it is not in the budget right now.
Jen continues looking for the 🕷️ lol I would have too 😁in the meantime Zach is trying hard not to laugh out🤣 The only good spiders are not in my home lol
You guys are so sweet😁MostlyJen, Zack you are awesome too, you crack me up, you make my day! I have only done water bath canning, I am looking to add pressure canning, don't have a clue about pressure canning.
My sweet who knows more than me at my elder age.... I can't find Comphry anywhere. No friends, no stores and don't trust the other stuff. Im too old to go getting picking gardening or begging.... can you help?
Do you sell your Eggs? You could make some Money! Maybe it might counter the chicken feed bills. Will be interesting to see the store come together. Nancy from nebraska
I know this was a year ago but there is no way that was everything that you do in a day. I truly want to know how you do it and seriously went to thos video for inspiration. Did you think you would somehow bore us? No way. Now next time tell Zack to not be so trigger happy with the edit button. Haha.
Question about the honey, how would you pour/portion out a 60 lb container? I was thinking of purchasing that size too, but had no idea how I would put it in our mason jar for tea! We usually buy the 12lb jar. Thank you!
I really admire,,this lady....She Cooks,,Deal with her Childrens & Husband....She gardens... They come up with recipes.. She deals with House chores.. Much More.....Continúe to Struggle,. Deal with flower Garden-- as Well. To have Medicines & dry flowers for Decorating.just a Suggt. Move- on ,,I wish to have much Courageeeee. Like this Lady . Good luck
Azure sounds like something I need to investigate! You all are making great strides in self sustainability. Goodness sakes you are preserving, canning, freeze drying like crazy. Very proud of you both. aww Locust Hill goods....I remember that. it was the beginning of the beginning!
How are the prices? I expect to pay more for clean/organic food but...is it "reasonable"? I want to stock up for hard times but it is only me and I don't have a lot of storage so buying in bulk for one person? I just don't know what to do.
I just started with Azure and currently one at home. The great thing with azure is you buy what you need. You don’t have to by 25-50lbs. You could also find someone else that is interested in splitting, to get a bit more of a discount by buying a larger quantity, but you can by in lower quantities. 1lb, 5lb…etc. I bought 1 celery bunch to test the quality and I was very happy with what I received compared to the grocery store😃👍🏼 I also like the fact that I don’t need to drive into the next bigger town to go to the box stores, but that I am supporting a good company with a good mission-:). Depending on where you live you may or may not have the additional freight cost?? It was just put out I believe in the March newsletter that Azure is looking for a place to expand, possibly a site in the Midwest?? This could definitely help all the delivery times and changes. I believe they said it was not going to be immediate but they are looking😃👍🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I know you would be able to make homemade ketchup. I will not buy it again we love it. Try Living Traditions Homestead's way to make it you will love it. Grandkids love it too.
Azure is awesome 👏 I buy my carrots and celery the same way. This time I got the largest carrots ever❤️ They taste delicious not old. Carrot/ sweet potato soup from Pinterest was awesome! Going to make a batch for the freeze dryer. ❤️👩🍳🐾🐾☕️
