I really hope it doesn't get bought up by developers and get turned into soulless apartments/offices, that would be tragic. I hope it goes to an owner who really loves and understands it
I agree with Simon, there is somehow a nice feel to this house, even in the present state. I wonder if there are any photographs or pictures of the place in its heyday, as a contrast, to imagine what's possible.
Hi Simon, do you have an update on progress here? I'm only a few miles away in Cambridge but this captured my heart, and I'm passionate about conservation 💓
I live right near this and it’s the same old problem. You can’t do nothing to it without everyone else’s say so and keeping everything original etc.. instead they’d rather it sit looking a state and crumble to the ground because they won’t accept you having a new style windows or doors etc..
Thank you for the comments. Very interesting. From what I’ve learnt, the council should be in favour of bringing it back to life as they’re concerned about the building falling in to more disrepair. Best wishes, Simon
A listed building is a building of national importance and the aim is always to preserve as much of the original fabric of the building as possible. Changes aren't impossible but the expectation is quite rightly to repair and not replace where possible - any buyer of a listed building should be aligned to this ethos. I hope your new neighbours will preserve this gem and restore its former glory. I'm over in Cambridge so not far from this old beauty 🙂
£1.25M to buy & a further £1.25M to renovate taking up to 18 months - would be worth it as a gorgeous family home, especially if can have a private lane/driveway…
Fire content, I'm a huge fan of your video 🙋♂ Out of curiosity, are you currently seeking video editors or a thumbnail designer to enhance your personal brand? May I send you a previous work sample?
Head over to SPAB and Historic England for energy efficiency advice relating to traditional and listed buildings. Vapour permeability is key with any changes.
