In my rather inexperienced opinion, i would move the engineer to one of the quicker to complete building projects. Then after spending time at the skirmishers and it finishing, put it on the next such, until we clear it or until the next mission. For the PCS i would put that on either the reaper for scouting purposes, the ranger for more of an ability to close in on opponents, or a future templar character in order to help them use their blades. I excluded the sniper and skirmisher because while the sniper could use it in order to better catch up with their allies to evac in missions with a timer, its purpose is to take out enemies so need the accuracy more than anything. For the skirmisher, they actually have a load of movement options so they really dont need it unless you plan to turn them into a hit and run character. Thoughts on such a plan Pete?

That was a wild episode, really enjoyed it ! Pretty insane how quickly it went bad, comparing to the previous XCOM series I'm not sure there was once as many enemies on the battlefield even in the end game. To answer your questions, I think the speed-PCS would be usefull for Dragunova, it just makes more sense to me if you can scout further, you can plan earlier and better. I'd put that engineer on a new escavation task, then scan at the Skirmisher HQ to cut down two time consuming tasks. I don't know if it's worth loosing intel but that's what I'd do.

@@gabrielstrickland1038 that would be good to do aswell. I think pete has barely enough intel to do that. Though afterward its going to be hard to get some advancements toward advent centers.

​@@nicholashoskins8266 I am experienced, and your first post sounds like a good plan to me. I'm more inclined to scan something rather than visit the skirmisher HQ, but there isn't anything to scan right now. The intel (from Reaper HQ) is nice, but intel will trickle in with missions anyway, getting facilities working is more important at this stage. Even without the engineer, the resistance ring is likely to be finished before the next mission, so I think knocking down time on the infirmary is a slightly better option -- those reduced wound times are super helpful. For the PCS, +1 isn't much (it is +1 meter per action and tiles are 1.5 meter squares), but your thoughts on who to give it to sound spot on to me.

The Infirmary is a huge boon, and cutting it down to 15 days means you have about two missions without it, and with wounded soldiers already, that's massive. Yes, your wounded list is small, but it can swiftly grow depending on what the game decides to throw at you. Not to mention, if you put him in clearing alien machinery, you will have many projects become available at the same time, which can strain resources. It's better to stagger the completion of construction efforts than to group them together. Less downtime, and therefore more productivity.

Agreed. I think if you combine engineer infirmary with skirmisher scan, you'll be done in 8 days, which means you can actually cut that 15 day recovery down even if you have no other injuries before then.

Oh and I also noticed during editing that I accidentally gave Dragunova a weapon without the auto-loader. Would have given her two free reloads during the mission - useful, but not critical.

My vote is for the infirmary, and Dragunova is probably the best bet for the movement upgrade since her primary function is scouting.

I'm pretty sure that I submitted the bio in English, but looks like something went wrong during conversion, perhaps the free character editor is at fault. Personally, I think speeding up the infirmary is the best way to go. Since it’s still fairly early in the game, healing your troops quicker will help tremendously. Even if you doubled the engineers on the alien machinery, it would take more or less the same time as the infirmary with only one engineer. That’s my opinion though :D

I would say, place the extra engineer on the Resistance ring first for it to finish and then go to the infirmary. Getting your soldiers back up ASAP should be your top priority. For the same reason I would go with the Skirmishers - Infirmary in a week instead of a month sounds very appealing. Speed PCS - I always equip my Reaper first, but I am a huge sucker for detailed scouting, so that's just my opinion. Any soldier that's not a sharpshooter will be good choice.

What a mission! :D I think speeding up the infirmary seems like a good choice, I'd probably both put the engineer on that and scan at the Scirmisher HQ. The first person that comes to mind for the speed PCS for me is Dragunova, as she's the one that moves and scouts the most.

I think the only way to get some immediate value out of the infirmary is to set the engineer on it AND scan at the skirmisher HQ, knocking its build time down to about 7 days- the only way for it to reduce the recovery times of all currently active injuries. Anything else, and the longest active injury will be at best 1 day from recovery when the infirmary completes. If, however, getting that soldier up and running more quickly is not important right now, then it would likely be best to stick the engineer on the newest debris project and then scanning at the Reaper HQ to regain intel lost from the purchase at the beginning of the episode. The Avatar project is going to start accelerating very soon, and it is imperitive that contact be made more rapidly to gain access to that facility mission and slow it down. Cannot count the number of times a campaign has ended because I did not emphasize making contact and getting to those missions, and then being stuck in a death spiral chasing facilities that pop up before or very shortly after having managed to take down the previous one. As for the PCS, considering you just took that shiny new scouting ability on your Reaper, it seems fairly straightforward for the mobility PCS to go to them- all the better to more quickly get those spots off and more immediately benefit from the ability earlier in missions.

Wow, that was an impressive battle. Quite amazing you came out of that with so little harm. I'm really undecided about the boltcaster. The one shot is a heavy limit, and I have to admit I never found it usefull enough to replace any other weapon's option with it. Especially in a Lost mission, I would rather have a bit more ammunition at hand. But it worked out, so...

A huge mess? That's XCOM, baby! And you got options. I like the idea of doubling down on clearing the machinery and putting up a drone station (where you staff 1 engineer to get 2 semi-engineers) where it's at. The alternative would be to make contact with more regions. I don't like camping on the mini-HQ's for bonuses (though it would make sense because your primary roadblock is base infrastructure). You could hoard intel and hope to find scientists and engineers at the market. The speed PCS is 100% either Dragonova or one of your rangers.

Since I never actually commented when my character showed up (nor did I have an account to do so) I just wanted to say that it's an honor to have gotten the luck I got to have Starfall show up so early. I'm excited to see how this series will unfold, I mean if we get anymore Poles like we did in this episode I think we'll just end up with the Polish military plus volunteers from other countries, and it's really cool see Pete's expert handling of the situations no matter how terrible they seem. Anyways can't wait for more (and a sidenote, on a biased opinion I'd say give Starfall the PCS and get the engineer on the Infirmary, my boy has been decommissioned in the last two missions he fought in).

I don't care what the poll says, Starfall is the MVP in my heart for that badass critical axe throw at the Hunter from basically half the map away, all while being disoriented from that concussive grenade to the face a few turns earlier.

That mission was tense, so many health bars from the swarms and the surprise Chosen. The sniper’s free pistol shots put in WORK! And it was hilarious to see the Chosen get blown to smithereens in a three-punch knockout! (Grenade, fall damage, grenade - and I’m absolutely imagining that with the Minecraft damage sounds)

Being hit by a grenade that collapses the floor you're standing on and causes you to fall down onto another grenade, really ruins your day. Would have been made perfect if there was a claymore waiting at the bottom.

I'd be tempted to speed the infirmary personally, I'm not sure there's much point in speeding up excavations as you'll be likely to need more supplies soon Twitchy for MVP, those grenades came in clutch PCS goes to a ranger or a scouty type (Draganova maybe?) Or save it for a Templar

Infirmary gives -15 days, clearing alien debris gives -30 days. Whilst the infirmary is a high priority, we gained 2 soldiers, and current injury times are not too bad so our squad isnt impacted too much for now. I would suggest clearing the alien debris then scanning at the skirmisher HQ to maximise our building output in the most efficent manner. As for the speed PCS, it makes more sense to have on a stealth unit, possible the new guy Jan Sobieski as an option as mentioned as Dragana already has some decent abilities?

Well I would add an engineer to infirmary and scan at the skirmishes HQ to speed up the infirmary Pete. You don't want to send wounded or non-trained soldiers to go on tougher missions. Dragunova should get the PCS to pair with her new ability. Furthermore when the infirmary done you can focus on the excavations at the HQ.

Bravo, Pete! That was incredible! For the base, go for the infirmary. You need that healing, in case future missions go wrong twice in a row, which can totally happen. Clearing the rooms will really only give you some resources, because you're not going to build fast enough to fill them right now, having the empty rooms sitting there is a waste. You really only need a room to become available the same moment you need to build something.

Put the engineer into the infirmary, and scanning at the base allows the infirmary to come online soon enough to affect this round of injured people. Definitely give the reaper the PCS

It's interesting how much more damage Pete seems to be taking in XCOM2 than in XCOM1. I think XCOM1 is the more difficult of the two overall, but it's harder to complete "perfect missions" in XCOM2 as there are more variables at play.

I think reducing the build time on infirmary is the best option by far and speeding it up even more by scanning at the skrimishers base. The Speed PCS would be most usefull on Helleborus to get into chopping range that much faster. Thanks so much for the video again. I am almost looking forward as much to these videos as I do to the Rimworld series and that is saying something. It has also inspired me to start tikking of those last achievments on my XCOM 2 account. That gives me something to do as I wait for new Pete Complete content.

So, my two cents: 1) Pair up the engineers: getting that slot open gives you a few options for building up the base, plus it'll be getting done at about the same time as the infirmary 2) Put the PCS on either Outrider or a ranger: the extra movement is invaluable for them 3) Personally, I'd get the supply drop when it hits, then scan at skirmisher hq until your 1st engineer is free, put them on the infirmary build, then finish that. Might have a mission before it's all done, but it should give you some breathing room

Fun fact: both faction operatives were carrying the polish flag, making this the highest pole density in the area: 3 per map (Antek is also polish). The big shame is that XCOM 2 doesn't feature Polish as a bark language. The voice lines were quite fun. You mildly butchered all of their names. No hard feelings intended.

Hi Pete Definitely go for the Infirmary over all else, injuries can soon add up! Love the way all the last group got a last shot before they left, but in situations where they just need to exit out, I always enjoy the ‘evac all’ mod. No mechanics change, just a good QOL one Thanks as always for doing what you do, keep well!

I wouldn't fret about the extra engineer, it basically means you can chuck one to live in the infirmary and not worry about falling behind on construction. Concentrating XP on my troops is something I'd give a higher priority than faster contacts anyways, you want that second squad size upgrade ASAP.

TLDR Extra engineer on Infirmary. Move Machinery engineer to Resistance Ring until it's completed. Scan at Skirmisher until Infirmary is up, then scan for Intel. Reasoning below: That extra engineer is nice. You can put an engineer into the Infirmary AND the Resistance Ring at the same time immediate benefits, without significantly delaying clearing the debris and machinery. The consequences of wounded soldiers have a snowball effect, so getting that up a single mission early could be critical. I'm honestly shocked you haven't put an engineer on the Infirmary already. The resistance ring *probably* doesn't need to be rushed, but it's bad practice to underestimate how soon the next mission will occur. Getting the resistance ring up before the next mission (and therefore starting and finishing the first resistance ring operation) could have a snowball effect. This only matters if you have spare soldiers to devote to the resistance ring though - if you don't have enough soldiers to start using it, there's no point in rushing it. EDIT: I recommend Skirmisher HQ until the infirmary is up. Concentrated EXP in a few soldiers thanks to lower wound times is more vital to snowballing than most black market rewards (such as extra soldiers that dilute the EXP pool). It's not like you're hurting for engineers or anything else vital. A chance at buying a Scientist would be nice, but that's not guaranteed and it's generally better to gamble against the worst outcome (soldier wounds) than the best outcomes (black market rewards) when playing on ironman. Edit II: Clarification.

The engineer defo has to go on the infirmary. I am personally hoping for more injuries and complications to handle just like this episode here. Honestly, this is when this series has gotten an unforgettable level of meaty and flavorful!! I adore the experience here

I'd say put the PCS on dragunova or a blademaster ranger. As for engineer work, I'd boost the infirmary so you can make a dive for the power coil, unless you intend to set one up as soon as the debris clears

Either the infirmary or doubling up on the removal makes sense; even if you're to scan to double their speed, finishing clearing one debris in the first 15 days and the next in the following 15 will always be better than finishing both in 30 (assuming that the scanning boost stacks linearly with multiple engineers)

I think Dragunova should get the speed boost, that with the new target definition and her reaper cloak would make her an almost OP recon unit. Also, you should seed up the infirmary as much as you can!

While the infirmary is a great default choice, I think the marginal utility you get from finishing it right now is limited; your currently injured soldiers will only be healed a few days sooner at best, and you have a lot of uninjured soldiers who can be employed as replacements. I think the potential to shave 30 days off clearing out the alien machinery is a better longterm play.

Put Izaak into infirmary, that is the priority now. Give PCS to one of the rangers. Stay at the Skirmisher HQ. BTW, since the Resistance Ring is about to be ready I would suggest going for the Templars next.

I think that considering the injuries, getting the infirmary asap is a priority. Once that is done, another excavation project and scanning for faster building time seems sensible.

Unless there is some vital project, getting the most value out of the Skirmisher base boost by clearing an another pile of machinery seems like a good idea.

Brilliantly played mission. Although, I've always wondered, is there any point to reaction fire on Lost? It seems like you're better off spending the ammo on your turn on higher-probability shots.

I think It will be beneficial to take assault rifle or weapons that have multiple bullets instead of single shot weapon like bolt caster in Lost missions. It gives multiple turn to shoot and thin enemies for that extra advantage. But this mission was fireeee. GG

Engineers pay for themselves, really, given the time and purchase reductions. So don't feel bad for getting even more! With Skirmisher HQ up, focusing on the infirmary while scanning to reduce its time isn't the worst use of your time for sure, another thing that pays for itself with the hardest currency to keep: Time. With the Doom counter low and not TOO many useful things in the resistance ring, better to do that now than in a rushed panic later.

I think getting the infirmary ASAP is the most important thing right now. month long injury timers are tough, and will only get tougher the longer the building takes

You should put the engineer in the infirmary and scan at Skirmisher HQ to get it done that much faster, then you can have him help excavate.
