What I teach truly and totally correct, each soprano, alto and tenor has high, low and mid the implementation depends on the vocal coach and the songs... vocal arrangements is always about intellectual capacity not thinking soprano is always sharp....I hope you understand reality of vocal arrangements.....Thanks....I have done couples of LIVE RECORDING CONCERT I do vocal and band arrangements myself by The Help Of The Holy Spirit
There is no way alto can be higher than soprano ... Your theory of sopranos been a (Do ) all the time needs to be looked at again .. When you are spliting harmonies .. The first thing you look for is the (melody line ) So lets imagine ..the melody line starts on a (Do) And you decide that sopranos should sing the melody line .. Then altos has to sing ( so ) And ternors the (mi) ...that is if the beginning chord of the melody is on the One chord ... Sopranos are the highiest voice in terms of range followed by alto ..then tenor ....
I a kind way let me say this: You are correctly wrong.... why ? .... Because soprano is not the only higher voices..... Then How possible other voices can be higher than soprano?.... That's a good question, Let me explain why? Every Voices has, lower, Middle and High so here Soprano Is Middle but Alto is high Alto. Thanks Mr Emmani, I hope you have learned something through my reply.

This guy is not someone who is ready to listen and learn. See the way he's attacking those pointing out his errors. I just pity those who learn under him. How dare you put alto and tenor above the soprano and seem not to see anything wrong in it This is the first time I'm seeing such impunity in abnormality. He needs to have listening ears. Joseph...sometimes alto can be higher than soprano, that alto is called hight alto...do your reasuch, humble yourself because you don't have full knowledge to teach vocal...
I am confused here because I sings alto and I know that alto does not go too low nor too high. It seems to me that the key alto is singing here is soprano not alto. Please correct me if I am wrong.

You are wrong Sir! I also noticed all through the comments that you were not ready to listen to anyone because you think you're right and everyone else is wrong. That's not a good learning spirit in the Kingdom of God. The greatest in the Kingdom is the one who is humble, no matter who you are and what you already know. Now, here's the thing; Soprano is not always "do" Alto is not always "so" Tenor is not always "mi". This is because all three parts are based on their respective vocal ranges. Basically, Soprano is the highest female voice. Alto is the lowest female voice and Tenor is the highest male voice. Understanding this helps you to properly score the harmonies in any song. Now, depending on the key of a song, any of the three parts can sing the melody (main line) or what you call "do". Likewise, any of the three parts can sing either the "so", or the "mi". With an understanding of vocal ranges, you can properly arrange the parts to any song, with respect to the key of the song. Understanding vocal ranges will also guide you to properly place your each choir member (singers) in either Soprano, Alto or Tenor.

@@MONAKHO. Lol. We learn daily to get better. Never see correction as an enemy. Accepting correction makes us better at whatever we do and it takes humility to accept that you're in the wrong. Now, to your points; 1. You said, "Soprano, Alto and Tenor can be sung by both males and females". That can happen when you're demonstrating the parts as an MD but to establish proper three-part harmony, you must understand the vocal ranges of the three parts. Now, you must understand the basic definitions of what Soprano means, what Alto means and what Tenor means. Soprano is the highest female voice, Alto is the lowest female voice and Tenor is the highest male voice. There is nothing like high Soprano, high Alto, high Tenor, low Soprano, low Alto and low Tenor. This happens when you establish that Soprano is always "do", Alto is always "so" and Tenor is always "mi". That's why you introduced the concept that Soprano, Alto and Tenor can sing either their high or low octaves to accommodate for high and low key differences in different songs. This ideology however, is wrong. Now, ask yourself the following questions: a. What happens when Sopranos cannot sing a particular "do" part of a song because the key is too high or too low for them? b. What do you do when the Altos cannot sing the "so" part because it's too high or too low for them at certain points? c. What do you do when the Tenors cannot sing the "mi" part because it's too high or low too for them at certain points? Answer: What you will do in the above scenarios is to rearrange the parts accordingly, based on knowledge and understanding of vocal ranges of the three parts. You must understand that Soprano is the highest female voice, Alto is the lowest female voice and Tenor is the highest male voice. Hence, Alto can never be higher than the Soprano. In your Hallelujah example in the video, there are several ways to consider harmonizing the song in three-part harmony, but here is one of them: The Key you used is C#, so the Alto part you taught in the video is actually the Soprano part. The guy in the red shirt among the Altos was struggling to sing because he is in the wrong part. He ought to be in Tenor where his vocal range would permit him to sing effortlessly. Also, the part you taught the Tenors is actually the Alto part. And so you'd realise that almost all the females in that Tenor category can either fit perfectly in Soprano or Alto. Now, the correct Tenor part is the part you taught the Sopranos in the video. What happens if the key changes? When the key changes to F for example, you'd have to rearrange the parts to suit the vocal ranges of each part. 2. Now, what I meant by a part singing the melody of a song: Singing the melody of a song is to sing the tune of that song.

You cannot place anybody in any vocal classification as being Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, etc. without first knowing their vocal range. Your vocal range includes the notes you can sing from lowest to highest. So, you can have a male sing extremely high notes and certain females sing extremely low notes. However, you cannot conclude their classification without first determining their correct vocal ranges. If you must squeeze your breath out or squeak to hit a high note, that is not in your correct range. Although many singers can reach notes outside of their comfortable range, this process requires practice and patience. 2. There are several vocal classifications according to vocal ranges. They include; Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone, Bass, Counter Tenor, Contralto, Mezzo-Soprano. The common ones however, are Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Baritone and Bass. In a four-part harmony, you would commonly find the arrangement as Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass (SATB). In a three-part harmony, you would commonly find Soprano, Alto and Tenor. Soprano is the highest female singing range, Alto is the lowest female singing range, Tenor is the highest male singing range and Baritone is the low male singing range. Bass is the lowest male singing range. 3. You can determine one's vocal range by using an instrument such as a guitar or preferably a piano. The vocal ranges of the various parts are as follows (NB: You might find slight variations to Alto and Tenor ranges on the internet): Soprano: C4-C6 Alto: E3-E5 Tenor: B2/C3-C5 NB: The above ranges are the most comfortable ranges for each vocal classification. However, some individuals can sing slightly outside these comfortable ranges with practice and patience.

He quoted Hosea 4:6"my perish because of lack of knowledge...". This is applicable across the board. I believe his heart is in the right place despite the errors,I believe he genuinely wants to advance the kingdom. That being said and speaking from a vocal instructor point of view,if you push an alto,worse still a tenor to sing soprano,which is what the" altos"were doing in this case one will end up with all sorts of vocal strain. He has the voices right the problem was he wasn't designating the voices the right people. "Do"isn't always soprano..it depends with the song context. Mr Emmani That Is a Question, Why Alto Is Higher Than Soprano? Simple, In Every Voices We Have Lower, Middle and High, so in this setup The Alto Is Higher But Soprano Is Middle. I hope you have learnt something in this explanation.
