Never seen a Netflix original movie look this good. Haven't seen a Tyler Perry project look this good in years!

My wife and I watched this film for the first time on Netflix 2 nights ago. I have to confess something. I am a 50 plus year old grown ass man and this film made me cry. I had to leave out the room to keep my wife from seeing my face. This film tore me up on the inside. It plucked at my heartstrings. And then the song at the end just really took me all the way out. Hats off to Tyler Perry and to all of the cast members. Great job. Great film. Great story. Thank you for this film.

Tyler Perry says "A Jazzman's Blues" was one of the first screenplays he ever wrote, and is a bit of a passion project for him. Hopefully it will be better than some of his more recent outings.

This is the best movie on Netflix right now and it hasn't even been in the top 10 movies category, which is wild! Tyler Perry outdid himself with this one and I'm impressed.

I have followed Tyler's plays and movies throughout the years. I appeared as an extra in his first stage play, "I Know I've Been Changed". He's an awesome writer, director and producer. I absolutely love this new film and honor him for his great talent. I can hardly wait to see it. From one writer to another. Mr Tyler Perry I respect you highly for your gift to the world!

My aunt had a once in a lifetime love with a handsome chocolate gentleman in Memphis Tennessee during the 50's. They were going to run to the New York. He was killed, lynched! They we're never found, justice was never served. Sad as it is, that was a common thing in the south during that time. She never recovered, she lived alone until end of her days. She had a small cabin, no electricity, no plumbing. A little homestead surrounded by trees on outskirts of Memphis, good distance away from neighbors and far from any populous of people. She died at 94 of heart attack, surrounded by her animals laying down beside her until help arrived..only one who attacked them, was her wild pet squirrel, he fiercely loved her! He would run to her minute she opened the kitchen door to get wood for her beautiful antique stove. Just sit on her shoulder and watch her cook. She was magical woodland fairy to me, a delightful person in a embroidered apron, who talked to her animals that loved her like fairytale writers would describe in books. She had pictures of old Ben on her fireplace mantel, they were so happy in those pictures - I studied ever bend and hues of pigments in creases of their smiles to glimmer in their eyes, with the thoughts of I couldn't wait to fall in love..loved sitting on her lap, while she rocked me, telling me of the stories about Ben's life, honoring every bit of his memory and their love! Guarantee this movie is going to be a strong reflection to me of Aunt Anne and Uncle Benjamin. Can't wait to see it, I'm sure it's going to pull at my and my siblings heart strings ten fold! Thank you in advance Tyler Perry.

The ending of this film is heart-wrenching

This was so good, had my emotions at the edge of my seat. If you haven't seen it, be prepared with a box of tissues.

I love Tyler Perry movies but I love this one because it tell a beautiful love story. And how brother can grow up in the same house and hate each other because of how the father favors one over the other (Cain and Abel) within the family that no one ever talk about but we all see it… like children should be seen and not hear! Such a beautiful story. I'm halfway through it, and it reminds me a little of The Notebook, only ten times better. It pulls on your heartstrings. Tyler Perry is such a lovely man with a romantic soul. Watch it. Best Friday night movie so far.

I got to say this is worth watching. Its been a while that Netflix wasn't my favorite. But with this movie I am more than satisfied. Good job Netflix!

for those who are in double/ skeptical thoughts of watching it, I watched last night. OMG, best movies, the two hours will pass by like nothings, from the cast, to the story to the kind of based true life experience of love, sadness, black history - all aspects beyond outstandingly composed, I would actually would have nominated it for Oscar. I absolutely loved this movie!! Tyler you did your thing Sir! I love movies about this time period! My Grandmother has a similar story as I'm sure many of Black Grandparents may have! Those times were difficult and people were trying to find ways to make life a little easier for themselves and their families which is why many of them tried to pass if they could!! I will definitely rewatch this movie again and again!

WOW, I am blown away by the film..amazing The love he expressed toward her has been lacking in today's society. Guess, Tyler didn't want to release the movie until it was able to reach it's full potential...it's complete.

If Tyler Perry made this type of movies from the beginning of his career, he'd be the biggest movie maker of all times. He deserves an Oscar for this one.

This movie was so well written and beautifully executed! The cast was amazing. For years we’ve only had films like The Notebook and Dear John. Of course those love stories touched our hearts but THIS ONE was for the culture! It highlights history and a true depiction of black love through segregation and even struggles of colorism. 10 stars!!! I cried my eyes out! Bravo Mr.Perry!

I genuinely loved this movie and how much it reflected the oppression and segregation that was being portrayed at the time, I'm always one to really dig into the history of this country. It was Avery beautiful, bittersweet, heartfelt movie. MUST WATCH.

I watched this movie today on Netflix. I almost didn’t look at it. I thought it was just one of those typical ‘old & sad’ remake movies. This movie was by far one of the best movies by Tyler Perry. Man I just watched this on Netflix and this too hard to take. Will never be jealous of my brother to get him killed. That’s horrible and too horrible. And forbidden love is a disease we need to abstain from. This movie is deep and too deep and I couldn’t stop my self from crying. And one bigger lesson is always let go of your past especially when something beautiful is already waiting for you at the front. This movie isn’t just a movie but a deep story told that captivates the soul. I just can’t stop myself from crying cause this was too much to take in all at once.

A Jazzman's Blues is one of the most well written scripts ever and will be a classic for many years to come ❤️. I cried... I laughed... I sighed... I FELT every emotion! The story is so REAL, honest, and raw. The horrific events depicted in the movie happened a lot in the past and are still occuring more than some realize. Stories of incestuous rape and unjust racism need to be told! This is our country's true history and it shouldn't be whitewashed. We CANNOT erase the past and we shouldn't want to! We need to know the truth so we can learn from past mistakes and not make them again. Thank you Tyler Perry! 👏🏾

Bravo! This movie was stellar from the vivid imagery to the well-spoken words which each character spoke. Joshua Boone's smoothie, seductive voice as he sang, "Make a pallet on your floor...." was more than soul stirring.
