This was my contribution to the December 2018 ChipWINter compilation called "ChipWINter Wilderness".
Winter is my favorite season. It can be hostile and violent, but it is also beautiful. I wanted to infuse the song with this contrast if I could. Enjoy!

I checked the Tyrian OST and the first song I heard was Asteroid Dance part 2, which as the same rhythm pattern as this, nice catch!

@@PLightstar Ok I think I get it, the instruments are very similar (with bells and chip sounds especially) and there's this ostinato melody running just like in my song. Nice catch!

It almost sounds like a mix between the sounds of the Genesis and the SNES, I kinda like that :P

Oh thanks! To be fair I used FM synthesis based sounds for most of the melodic instruments, so I'd say that this is more Genesis sounding, but my own taste leads me to pick softer sounds (even for guitars impersonation), which in the end sound close in a way to SNES sounds. So I think I understand what you mean.

It makes me think of the happier epilogues for a good 2D game. Those kinds of uplifting remixes of a main theme that leave things on a high note.

@@CarboHydroMusic Yup, that chorus really sold me on the idea. When I was listening to this I had just finished playing some Shovel Knight and thought that this should be one of the climax or epilogue songs for Polar Knight if they ever went back and made him his own game.

@@radtex03 Oh that's indeed a match up that feels right. Shovel Knight's music also has all those 8bits sounds arpeggios that I keep using as well in my FM songs - although the soundtrack is completely in 8bits form.

Sweet, sweet FM! I think the instrumentation really does help that contrast you mention in the description. Background art is nice too--it resembles the scene out back of my house right now!
