@ArizonaPublic Thank you for the complement. Have you ever gone to any Native Plant Society meetings in your area? You can learn about edible native plants in Arizona. I was active for a short while with a chapter in Florida.
@EWOKCAD I've been to upstate NY in the winter. But I've never experienced a Montana winter. It'll make for some good videos. I hope the LCD on my camcorder doesn't freeze!
@DigitalSkyline You're absolutely right. Thanks for watching and please be sure to check out the google ads on this video's page when you get a chance. Take care, John
@EWOKCAD I need to do a video of the winter coat I bought yesterday at the thrift store. It's a GI issue coat made in '54. It has a wool liner in it. The coat must weigh around 5 lbs, I'm not exaggerating about that.
I enjoy your videos. Good commentary. One suggestion for anyone unemployed for an extended time would be to move to any area that has low unemployment. The BLS website lists the unemployment rate per metropolitan area. For example Lincoln Nebraska is only 3.6.
The problem isn't really unemployment... it's the boredom that kills. Feeling worthless, useless, unneeded... for as long as you can keep yourself busy, being unemployed isn't so bad. Not having to answer to a boss can be great... being broke not so much. Even leaving the house most times cost money, gas in the tank what have you.
Pot is a cash crop. Medical pot places will pay cash money to suppliers. No veggy or fruit will grow and be profitable like pot. This is fact, survival!
@EWOKCAD It does get cold. I'm north of Saratoga and it gets to 22 degrees below zero in the winter sometimes. In Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks, it gets even colder than that.
The $60,000 and $80,000 jobs some previously held are not coming back. They might find work at middle age or higher, but are likely to take a severe pay cut. Possibly as much as 50%. You don't have to be unemployed for the system to start to crack. Imagine 40% being paid 30% less than they previously made? The result is the same. Change of spending habits, change of outlook and fear. Not a good mix considering how high on the horse using credit many Americans have been living.
Yeah, it seems like unless a person highly connected or is willing to work for a government agency or for a government contractor, or do some job in education, healthcare, food service or the retail sector, or become some sort of salesperson, it's difficult finding a job as the few jobs outside of these sectors usually involve having some sort of skill or training that few people in the population have.
@LtSgt5 Get the book "How to survive without a salary" and also, read up about wild edibles, "Foragers harvest is a great book to get you started. Let me know if you have any questions about either of the books. Take care, John
@johnu78 Movements of people start with events just like what we are seeing. Fear, doubt, desperation, anger and hopelessness create for chaotic times. I don't see how this can last for even another couple of years without a major upheaval of some sort.
@EWOKCAD I'll have to search for it. Have you ever read up about the Byzantine Empire? At one time Hungary along with the Balkans was under Byzantine rule.
they dont want older persons as employees cause the elder persons know when they are being ripped off or abused. the wise elder persons never had kids cause its always been "screw the worker" in this country.
@TheChertron I was under the impression that John was talking about real jobs that actually create wealth as opposed to service jobs such as the ones you mentioned your friends getting. Point taken nonetheless.
@EWOKCAD I'm going to have to watch it later. I'm on my internet card right now and that video would eat up the rest of my month's bandwith. I really want to do a video commentary about the Ukrainian Holocaust.
@EWOKCAD I appreciate the invite but I want to try and make it through the winter here. I think I'll be okay. Besides I made a lot of friends since I got here and I don't want to up and leave. On top of that there are a lot of super fine looking women here and I'm hoping to find one to have a relationship with.
@TheMiguelGrande What you said is true..But I would also like to add..If you have a job- save your scrap metal...when its all been shipped to china and everyone is broke..it should be worth a bit more :)
