This video is a visualisation of the speed of light, by beginning at the Sun and travelling about 1 light day through the Solar System at the speed of light. All objects and distances are to scale.
It should be noted that all objects in this video are at their average distance from the Sun. All objects orbiting the Sun have some degree of ellipsicity to their orbit (Earth's distance from the Sun varies by millions of kilometres), but some objects shown here, namely the dwarf planets and comets, are sometimes hundreds of millions of kilometres closer or farther away from the Sun than shown in this video. In fact, both Orcus and Pluto sometimes come closer to the Sun than Neptune.
This is also the speed of light from the perspective of a stationary observer. It is currently thought impossible for objects with mass to travel at lightspeed, and if it were to occur regardless, relativistic effects would render the journey instantaneous from the perspective of the traveller.

Please check the description or the chapters section for a more reliable way to navigate the video.

The solar system itself is so huge that if the distance between the Sun and the Earth is only 1 feet, the inner limit of the Oort Cloud is a mile away from the Sun... the outer edge?? Roughly 25 miles away. At this scale, light travels at approximately 7.2 feet per hour, or 0.6 mm per second. Voyager 1 at about 40 metres away.

I have trouble sleeping, but travelling these vast distances at the speed of light was so tedious that I fell asleep after reaching Jupiter, then woke up in the morning to see Uranus. I didn't get a good look at Uranus though since it flashed past so quickly... somewhat of an anticlimax, as were the other planets etc at this speed. I would have liked to also have "Time from Sun" displayed, although I realise that one can view the time on the video to approximate this, as well as have "Distance from Sun" in AUs and Light Years. This video does make you realize just how empty the cosmos is, and how isolated we are from all that's out there... which, when I come to think of it, is much like my social life these days. I wonder if anyone has a player which can be set to play the video at different warp factors... this could make it less boring. Also, I would prefer to see where I'm going as well as where I've been. Perhaps a simulation running on a computer would be more suitable... or is that what we are all experiencing already? Anyway, well done! This video brings a sense of reality to the vastness of the cosmos, even though travelling at the speed of light may not be possible and seeing where you're going or where you have come from at anything close to this speed would be radically different too.

At 9:29:00 we begin to leave the heliosphere, and by 9:29:30 we're in interstellar space as indicated by the sun which becomes just another pinprick of light, albeit a brighter one compared to the surrounding stars. (If we go by the resolution in this video rendering, that is.)
