I can't watch Akira anymore. I've seen it twice and currently satisfied with never watching it again. Reason? It messes with me too much. Like my mind and emotions, my vibe. And not in like an edgy way where I mean it's good. No like in bad ways. This is by no means a knock or critique on the film. It is an astounding work without a doubt. I can't think of anything similar to Akira. The reasons are the same for Neon Genesis. masterpieces, but it messes with me too much.

I named my daughter Akira 18 years ago, then found out about the movie. Had no idea 😅. When people heard her name, they always said, "Like the movie!?" Had to watch it, of course. I wasn't into anime, but now she is my amine watching buddy.

There's a YT video about why it didn't and the relation of it to the movie that was released. I forget the name or where it is but do a search, I'm sure you'll find it. I think they explain why it wasn't made in six parts.

Actually, author himself announced last year that anime series will be made by Sunrise Studio. Now it's not known if this is gonna be made like OVA, or multiple episodes for each book.
