hoyoverse single handedly just got so many non-chinese teens/young adults into chinese opera with yunjin’s existence, i am one of them, this is so good
same though i might have some asian ancestry (most likely Mongolian though) it's really good. though i also do love songs that are in a more operah style in general (a good example would be certain songs from the band Nightwish or Xandria specifically songs like a Theater of dimensions or the greatest show on earth they are long songs that take a lot of inspiration from operah )
And Chinese kids too! Art needs to be reinvented with love in order to thrive and I'm glad Hoyoverse was able to do this in a way young people around the world can understand!
Chinese opera has a reputation of being something your grandparents listen to. I love that more people my age are being more interested in it since it's slowly becoming a dying art form
I showed yunjin’s opera to my great grandpa the other day and he seemed to rlly enjoy it! I told him that this game is slowly bringing back this dying arts because a lot of young ppl are interested from it and he seems quite happy^^
I’m not sure if things like this will ever make a proper comeback, but we might as well try and make them last as long as possible, hopefully for many years :)
@@yukii5633 this doesn’t rlly have anything to do with the og comment bro 😭 even if mhy wasnt a chinese company it’d still bring attention to chinese opera
@@yukii5633 i think they meant the collab between hoyoverse and yunjin's singing va, which is a pretty famous singer in china. since the game is also pretty popular overseas, it brought attention to chinese opera from westerners that never heard of it.
You have to understand, she’s singing at that volume….UNAMPLIFIED. Or at least that would be traditional practice. These singers train for decades to be able to produce that magnitude of sound. “Singing for the back rows” as they say.
@@lye_solution well, I didn’t. I thought she might have been wearing a microphone colored so it wouldn’t stick out. Just cause you know something doesn’t mean everyone else does
So happy that mihoyo decided to add yunjin, I would’ve never found this genre if it weren’t for them. It’s so beautiful and i genuinely enjoy it, the costumes, the singing, the makeup, the dancing, and I can list so many more.
And she put her own interpretation into this too! The first being her using a lore accurate sword instead of the original spear. The second being her making the sad part where Shenhe finds an empty village much more muted only to then make the announcement of the "epilogue" much more triumphant than the original! I used to wonder why old people can watch the "same" plays over and over again, but now I'm beginning to understand.
Honestly its a miracle how just one character can cause so many youths to be interested in chinese opera all the sudden Even me, a chinese who never really had any interest in chinese traditions before yunjin’s release, finding myself enjoying chinese opera and voluntarily listen to it
I’ve always gotten chills while listening to Yun Jin sing and now I have EVEN MORE listening to a full performance. I’m so happy Hoyo added Yun Jin into the game🙏
This performance makes me so emotional I swear I cry everytime I listen to it. It's so beautiful visually and the performance from everyone is excellent! I am so glad this genre was introduced to me.💖
This is quite different compared to what we have in the US, but it is so beautiful nonetheless. Kudos to all the Chinese opera singers out there. They are really talented at what they do!
this is one of the best songs i've ever heard, i could listen to it for hours and not get bored of it no matter how many times i hear it its good every time
I'm very happy that more people are starting to listen to Chinese opera, I've always been amazed by how opera singers project their voice to the crowd, not impressive till you hear that it's their raw voice, with no microphone or anything. Thank you Genshin for making this song!
Our local TV broadcasting company used to broadcast several cultural programs and one of them is some performances of Peking Opera. As a kid, I was so mesmerized that I try to imitate the actors moves. I don't understand the language nonetheless what I watched moved me that I still remember them til today.
This is why i love genshin. its putting traditions to the game but with modern things. This way it helps the people play it be aware of such things and appreciate it
I think Genshin has actually helped chinese opera evolve into something modern, it is exactly what traditional chinese opera needed to attract younger generation to appreciate chinese opera again.
Her singing voice is good, but she sings too fast, you can't feel the sad and tragic feelings in the story told in the lyrics through her singing, it's bascially a somekind of regular school performance. It's good enough for a kid, but it's not even close to good for the traditional singing performance.
just because its an asian sword doesnt mean its a katana. The sword in the opera lacks the characteristic curve that the katana has on its blade, making it not a katana.
I don’t have much knowledge about this kind of genre music but everytime I listen to this performance, I literally always always get goosebumps no fail then I tear up I don’t understand but this is beautiful both the story and how the singing tells the story :’)
I'm so happy people are becoming more interested in my culture 😁 For once everyone isn't mocking and turning Chinese songs into a meme for 'sounding funny'
