If you watch the rest of the documentary, you discover that the researcher in the video who identified the serial killers' brains - James Fallon - ends up having the same brain abnormalities as the serial killers! But he explains that he was raised in a loving family, met his wife early on, figured out his career path early on, and generally avoided many of the traumas and frustrations others have to deal with. Whereas serial killers generally experience severe early trauma. So biology isn't enough to determine behavior - there's also our life experiences that shape us. Dr. Fallon is not a killer - in fact he hopes his research will help others. He wants to heal, not hurt.

Of course there are some correlations. I have read some works which spoke about abnormal part of "psychopats"(people with lowered empathy and great agression) in political and top-management jobs. In some point I understand what you mean, for my case I had some sort "killer intent" when I was in late teens, even I at that I didn't watched much horror movies or played video games (I didn't had a PC or any other game consoles) or was suppressed in social life. Just it was there kept locked inside causing sometimes emotional problems. Well that continued until I began taking interest in reading/writing fictional stories with horror elements. Thanks to that, I overcome this nonsense :D

No, he had bad genes but a good upbringing. In the end the upbringing shaped his life. He killed no-one. People will the warrior gene/s are heros in a fight but can struggle with holding their temper and being fair.

Heres a theory , most serial killers were abused as a child. Thats a known fact. So with the brain being damaged physically at a young age can cause these types of issues later on in life . Therefore taking the responsibility off of the killer themselves and onto the one who abused him and caused this. Then again how much of this is genetic and how much is not ? If there are any counselors reading this please respond so we can talk privately about what i have been through

Human brain is something that grows and evolves over time based on the habits and the environment it is subjected to. Jame's research probably shows a pattern among the brain of killers or psychopaths, but the brain scans are of mature adults hence it cannot imply that one can be a born killer or not.

Behaviours are variable in all. Truly, it’s how you use your brain that matters. A surgeon who can cut a person up is by definition a psychopath. Most people could not do this to mouse if given the chance. Those who could, say kick a family out for past rent due to financial hardships more likely a psychopath. There are many factors involved in a label. Understanding the real meaning then defining it for society, with clarity is more important honestly.

Drug abuse causes a much different kind of damage than that found in psychopaths and only when it is chronic drug abuse. There is also the slight problem of the guy in the video having the same pattern of brain inactivity as the serial killers...

Brain looks different after the fact, cause is probably trauma, I liked the Confessions book by M E Thomas, she thinks she is Socio althouth she is obviously just a traumatised individual under an abusive father. Shutting down and going into protaction mode under an abusive parent means that the DSM views you as psycho, to help each other we view as trauma survivours and hope that we are not so far gone as to be alienated from intimate connection for the rest of this life. Why do people want monsters? Would the world be easier to deal with, would your pain be eaiser to deal with without empathy? There is a cycle happening in the discourse here, those of you looking for monsters would rather blame some fake idea that they exist instead of being able to admit that life can be tragic and painful, hence, making you, the thing that you blame. hmmm.
