God this reminds me of the times I used to stay up late at night at my cousins house playing Mario Party without a care. Now that we’re older we’ve all moved on and it just makes me wish I could go back one last time and enjoy those moments, damn.

This will never fail to make me cry, I don’t know if it’s because it’s sad and nostalgic, or I just sometimes miss who I was when I was little, having so much anxiety without realizing it and using video games as a sort of escape, but it’s just beautiful in itself.

Gonna go back to ~1998 here. My mom dropped me off at my friend Sam’s house to spend the night. It must’ve been around noon because I remember us just having a lot of daylight. We went around his neighborhood riding our scooters and seeing some of the houses being built. Walked inside of them and all. I remember a wasp landed on my shirt and I tore it off in a sprint. We later went into this big ditch right behind his house and just threw junk into it haha. It was fun, but it was so simple. That evening, his little brother came home from another friends house and we ate dinner that his mom made. Not sure what it was. That night we stayed up super late, playing Goldeneye trying to get all the cheats. At some point we gave up and played Mario 64 for a bit and eventually to OoT, then back to 007. The three of us knocked out at some point but I remember waking up to his dad getting ready for work. I just remember looking around the room and seeing my best friends and falling back asleep. I’m not sure what my future has for me and in this age I’ve come to be more realistic of my expectations in life, but if I can have one more night being that contempt in a moment, I think I’ll be alright.

What always chokes me up is the final 40 seconds. It feels like a peaceful dream of an event. It may be about gaming at sleepovers but at the end I can’t help but get visions of a lover and I pressing heads together and is laughing and kissing like a happily ever after.

This reminds me so much of my younger days. I was spending the night at a friends house and we played Mario Kart on N64 all night. I got soooo home sick I started crying. When my mom picked me up we went to Rainforest Cafe and I got a Sprite. Life’s good.

Wish I could go back to my childhood days. The nostalgia's setting in... My heart hurts. My soul hurts. You know what I miss most? My old home in the Bay Area... Before my parents divorced, before they started hating each other, before one of them left me for good... My naïve world view, having the mind of a child, blind to racism, blind to hatred, blind to cruelty, floating as if in some sort of dream world and not the cold world we live in today... My best friend who lived across the street from me, before I moved and stopped seeing her for years at a time, before we stopped talking and she forgot about me the way everyone always forgets about me and leaves me all alone to just die in the end... The ocean, the smell of the sea, the morning fog in the Bay, the soft breeze, never to be seen again by me, even if I were to go back, it could never be the same... The blue colored jay that would sit on my balcony every morning, waiting for me to feed him. I named him, too, after the star on his feathered body. He's dead now. I know he's dead. Scrub jays only live for 15 years after all... My innocence and my mental sanity from before I was assaulted, trauma kicking in for good, mind and body corrupted, depression and suicidal thoughts soon following me like a shadow for years at a time, they're still with me now, even as I type this... But I can never go back. It's gone forever. Only pain. Now I know only pain, and longing, and sorrow.

all I can say is that at some point in our life we did everything we wanted but as we grew up we came to realization that...we dwell on the things we could have a do-over but can't. like we can't go back to childhood but can sit and dwell on the memories we've had in that lifetime.
