Johann Schneider All right half of those cannot be considered to be part of "nowadays" The other half is worse. Now I must say that some conductors are obviously better than others at certain repertoires and worse at other repertoires. I lived near Amsterdam for a while and often saw Jansons live, his Wagner for example is nowhere near as good as Thielemann's.

In another interview he stated that the singers determine how he conducts. "Every singer breathes differently", he said, "and I have to consider this." Anna Netrebko for example praised him for his support towards the singers and felt that Thielemann can control the orchestra's volume like no other.

I am delighted that my impression of this great conductor is correct. Another one is Rubin Mehta, the favored conductor of the Three Tenors. When Pavarotti took his voice into the Stratosphere and stayed there until forever, Mehta watched him like a hawk and HELD the orchestra until the exact moment Pavarotti decided to return to earth. Yes, for my money, they are REAL conductors, they make sure the performer is able to do his best. These conductors do not compete with the performer, they provide him/her with the platform from which they can launch their performance and know that the conductor always has their back .

Willi Hansen Wenn Du keine Ahnung hast, dann kommentiere doch nicht. Es ist eine Tugend, wenn der Dirigent mitartikuliert und entsprechend auch mitatmet. Lernt man schon im ersten Semester. Muss man vielleicht nicht im Konzert machen, aber in der Oper auf jeden Fall. Und beim Chor auf jeden Fall auch.

@@schwarzetaste6721 DU hast null Ahnung! Was hast du denn studiert? BWL? Jede dirigentische Anweisung hat nur Sinn, wenn sie VOR dem Zeitpunkt der Ausführung in der Musik angezeigt wird, sonst hat der Musiker/Sänger/Chor keine Zeit zu reagieren. Das heißt, wenn du da vorne dein Maul auftust, als ob du mitsingst, ist es schon längst zu spät, dass jemand darauf reagieren könnte! Und wenn du einem Solisten es "vorsingst", wäre es genauso als wenn du mit deiner Luftvioline dem Solisten vorschreibst, wie er seine Sachen zu singen oder zu spielen hat. Die werden sich bedanken. Mitatmen kannst du machen, kein Problem, aber das Rumgeäffe machen nur Amateure.
