It's a very good movie and Linda Darnell steals it! Her segment with Paul Douglas is so good, she was fantastic. Also Thelma Ritter! She's always great. I agree that Kirk was very good too and i felt his conflict.
I have never seen this one, but I think my wife and I would enjoy it. so will have to put it on our list. Really like your style I hope more people can find you.
Yes it is a very good movie. I love the characters!!! Thank you for explaining the ending bc I always wonder about the broken glass on the table but couldn’t figure it out.
I've tried looking to see if there are other interpretations out there, but haven't been able to find any so far, so this is my best guess. Thanks for your comment!
Thank you for another well done review and analysis. I enjoyed this film too and have seen it several times over the years. You mentioned that Thelma Ritter isn't listed in the credits. I have noticed that in quite a few older movies, there are characters with speaking roles, sometimes even important supporting roles, who are not listed in the credits. I'm not sure why this happened so often back then. Today, it seems that pretty much every face in the crowd is listed in the closing credits as "woman with blue hat" or "red-headed boy on bicycle," etc.
Thank you very much! That's true, they kept the credit lists much more concise back then, even if that meant leaving out a scene-stealer like Thelma Ritter.
An excellent critique, as usual. I've never seen this film, as I'm not much for romantic pictures. However, I have always heard that it was fabulously well-done. As soon as I run out of adventure films, creature features, monster movies, westerns, & World War II pictures, I'll get right to it! 😁👍🏻
Somehow I don't think you'll be running out of new watches from any of those genres anytime soon. Maybe sandwich this one between 'Gunfight at the OK Corral' and 'The War Wagon' and make it a Kirk Douglas triple feature. Thanks for your comment!
@@HildebrandProductions One of my least-liked actors, so I don't see that happening any time soon, but you always give the best movie suggestions! Keep up the good work! 🎞
In classic post-war suburban style, the dance(s) in the movie are all at the local country club-something few of us have any experience with. In the eighties, during college, I worked at a very posh country club and they’re relics of a different age.
Just found you! As a classic movie watcher, I appreciate your insightful critiques- and as someone who rarely subscribes to anything, I’m going for it! Thanks!☺️
