A life update.

Damn, I'm literally moving out of Seattle after 12 years in mid-August. In either case, I highly recommend the Fremont/Wallingford area if you can afford it, though if not and if you're ok with a more suburban vibe, I'd recommend looking north of the city. Public transit isn't the best here but they're actively improving it with some light rail expansions. Either way I think you'll love it.

You are incredible! Your community is wonderful and supportive of whatever you have to do and the different schedule for RU-vid. Take care of yourself as much as you can. I am in WA State and have enjoyed ffxiv for years. The PNW is a beautiful place and I pray that you find healing and rest. You will be flying in right before a gaming convention in Seattle ❤️

I live in a small town outside of Seattle and I can't recommend it enough Washington state is gorgeous and if you love mountains lakes and rivers only an hour away from the city are lot's of small towns with great charm

hey zel, haven't been on either lately myself, i had to give up ff14 bc of my job and other tragedys in the last month IRL, so I get it when RL gets in the way. PPL need to be more understanding of each other....my job wasn't. This is my only day off in 2 weeks. But moving is friggin stressful. The rent hike in TX went up, I almost had to move too, didn't want to, the process is awful. I'm glad to hear you're okay though! I was wondering about "that ukraine ff14 streamer, but damn what was her name?" Time will be hopefully heal all wounds and fix all things. Also, no offense to Seattle, cool city back in the day, but things are so expensive in that part of the country, i couldn't live there as an AMERICAN. If it doesn't work out, try states in the south, TX has some variety of cities (yes i'm biased, i'm from here, not trying to trick you to move here lol.. but you might like.....ugh Austin....), but it's one of the cheaper places to live in the country.

I couldn't imagine going through what you have been through the past few months. You are an inspiration to RU-vid and the FF XIV community. I think you will enjoy the Seattle area its very beautiful. I would recommend living a little outside the city.

Going out of your way to inform the non-twitch followers and fans despite what you're going through speaks to your dedication to the community you've fostered. You're doing great, Zepla. It's been a long hard road but you're almost at the destination. We're cheering you on :)

The Endwalker story really does carry such strong messaging. It sometimes feels like I nearly had a religious experience

Seattle is my home, I was born and raised here and truly love this city so while the circumstances aren't great at all, I'm happy at least that we can welcome you here! A few practical tips that may help as you look to move in! -Seattle housing prices are unfortunately absurd at this moment, the housing market is looking to FINALLY cool off with the economic downturn but it's hard to say how much that will happen since we're one of the strongest/most stable states in terms of general economy so recessions don't hurt us quite as badly. I won't make any assumptions on your finances but in terms of expense, typically the further north you get/closer to Seattle proper you get the more it costs. So Seattle, Bellevue (East side so slightly more affordable in some ways, but also full of rich people so expensive in that regard), Kirkland, Edmonds (where my wife and I are), The U District (University of Washington), Redmond (Microsoft/Nintendo), and the various Seattle districts like Queen Anne and Capitol Hill are all VERY expensive both to rent and own. Going further out to places like Kent, Tukwila and Renton, or on the north end Lynnwood are where things get a bit cheaper, it's usually where you'll find the nicer suburban areas, close enough to the city but still kind of remote. If you go even further south you'll find the bigger cheaper properties like in Sumner/Bonnie Lake which are more rural. Kind of in-between those two are areas like Federal Way and Des Moines, reasonably suburban but usually pretty affordable. If you don't need to be super close to the city, there's also the option of Tacoma, a smaller but still generally prosperous city south of Seattle and another major hub. I have some friends who absolutely love it there, but it's easily an hour drive up to Seattle so not where we wanted to settle. -Transportation is a mixed bag, honestly. We've got the Light rail that runs a single line from the south end up through the airport and into the Northgate mall area just north of the University of Washington (which also has a stop) and Seattle. Expansions are in work and expected to really start completing around 2023/2024 which will add a second line to the east side which will go directly into Bellevue, and go even further north up to Edmonds. The goal is also to run the south line all the way down to Tacoma (currently Tacoma is connected by a hard rail commuter train which runs less often) but linking the two cities will do a lot. The East side has some issues in terms of land value so they're generally expecting to connect the east side via bus so if you choose an area like Renton, Bellevue, Kirkland, Bothell or Redmond getting up and down will be harder, I personally recommend Bellevue out of any of them since it will have a direct link to the Seattle line whereas if you want to go north or south on the east side you're either driving or bussing on the 405 which is an absolute nightmare (I did that commute for 3 years and it was about 2 hours on the road a day minimum, not that this will be as much an issue for you). -People talk about the "Seattle Freeze" and characterize us as unfriendly or standoffish, I don't personally think this is accurate but I do understand where the perception comes from. Seattleites, in my observation, are by and large quite generous and warm, but also our entire approach to people is very introverted, for a lack of better term. We tend to build social circles up, have our people and just stay there without straying too far out. The most success I've had in expanding my friend circle (I'm pretty extroverted but my wife is kind of an ambivert and moved out from Michigan so she didn't establish her "People" by growing up in the city) has been using things like meetup to link with folks with similar interests. We have a pretty thriving local indie dev scene for example, and I know for us we like to go to a local game store (I'm an indie tabletop RPG designer in my spare time) and play there which has been really good for both of us socially and the shop is very LGBTQ+ friendly which is important and not something you can expect from those kinds of stores. So if you are someone who wants to have a lot of folks physically around, there are ways to get there, but since you aren't a native with a social circle that kind of grew up with you you'll have to work at it a bit more. Anyway, I hope that was even a little helpful. I hope you like Seattle, good luck with the move!

I'm in the Seattle area. It is very beautiful in this area. A bit expensive in some areas, but besides that I love it. It doesn't rain as much as people say. And you do get a taste of all seasons throughout the year.

We got monkeypox taken over, 5 varieties of Corona, political landscape isn't good. women's rights getting taken away, The gov has basically declared war on lgbt people and pushing out crazy laws. If possible try go to canada just outside of usa or somewhere more civilized, usa isn't the same country as it were when you left it. =(

As a local Seattle area resident, and a father of 6 fur babies, I am happy for you, even if it is not exactly the way you thought your life would go. Life throws some nasty curveballs and I can only imagine the kind of stress you have been under the last year. Most would have buckled under the pressure and just given up. Not you. I moved from the middle east back to the states ten years ago, it was definitely an ordeal to move internationally but was worth coming home hope you have a safe trip

Seattle would be one of the last places I'd want to live as an adult, and I'm speaking from experience. I spent a portion of my childhood in Oak Harbor (Navy brat) and have visited a few times since then, and while it's a truly beautiful state, liberal policy is making it worse by the day. Rampant homelessness, unchecked crime, absurd tax rates and living costs that are over 2x the national average (good luck finding somewhere even moderately affordable to live), and most of the people are extremely snobbish, perpetually depressed, and very culty 'defund the policy' types. All of that said, the further out from Seattle you live, the better it will get. Look into somewhere north of Seattle near Canada, or even further out places like Othello, or Centralia. If you like doing outdoors stuff it's truly one of the best places to be, but sincerely, be prepared for the high cost of everything there both in terms of financial cost and your mental health. Personally, I would look to move to a more affordable, more neutral area far away from the west coast, but that's me.

I would assume streaming makes more money than RU-vid videos. And you don't have all that hassle of editing. I've seen many people on RU-vid get popular and then they neglect their RU-vid for Twitch. Plus that whole can't get your RU-vid money would be kind of a reason to neglect RU-vid at the moment. 😆

Keep hanging in there and do what you need to rebuild your foundation and get some normalcy back in your life. The kind of fans you want in your circle will support you through it and still be here once things settle down. Don't stress over it 💜
