Hi Peter, great video and channel. It’s wonderful you have captured those memorable days of the lighthouses and their keepers. It must have been an amazing career and experience to have worked as a lighthouse keeper. It’s something I would have loved to have done as a career. To think of all the lives these remarkable structures have saved and their guardians. Best wishes Kev😀👍

Thank you very much Kev, much appreciated. Yes it's a great shame that it is a way of life that is gone now. Sorry you missed out, cheers and stay safe

TY Peter for keeping the history of the lighthouse and their courageous professional, life saving Keepers alive! I love your videos ❤ These lighthouses are beautiful & surely not as scary as those on the rocks! TY to you and all your brother Keepers for keeping watch & saving thousands of lives! I am amazed at the danger you faced and the courage it took. At least at some lighthouses, like this, families were together. TY again. I look forward to each new video. GOD bless you, Sir, and your family 🙏

Thank you very much Katherine, for your very kind comments, I do hope other Keepers get to read them too. Most of us Keepers really enjoyed our jobs and were happy to do it. Yes, it's very sad to say, that some Keepers lost their lives doing it, but I guess that happens in several other jobs too. Thank you again Katherine, God Bless and above all else, stay safe.

thank you Peter - brought back some wonderful memories of visiting Nash Point regularly as a young boy in the 1970s. I'd be squeezed into the back seat of my parents' car and we'd drive off to Nash Point, Dunraven Bay and Ogmore-by-Sea seemingly every Sunday afternoon! I last went back a couple of years ago and took some pictures there of the lighthouse and the thistles :-)

Thank you very much, It's always nicer when my video's trigger a fond memory, even if it is a squeezed into the back of a car memory. You have one up on me, I didn't find out about the "Thistles", till years later, so never saw one. cheers and take care.

These are great videos Peter! As soon as I saw the Tardis I thought about going back in time to see the light house as it was 🎉❤

Thank you very much. The Tardis yes, I would have loved to have seen the Dalek too, but that was indoors somewhere I guess. And yes, back in time to see the Lighthouse as it all used to be would be great too. Cheers and stay safe.

Sunday morning lighthouse vids are ALWAYS a treat, thanks. How many lights were you stationed at where you could park your Rolls just outside the door?

Hi Peter, I have been fascinated by the clips you have been posting over the time that I have been subscribed. I was in a previous life a heating and controls engineer for a company that used Trend Control equipment for HVAC Automation and controls, I noticed that at the start of this clip that the duty officer/controller was sitting amongst computer equipment and switch gear and up on the wall is an early Trend controller, what was trend used to control at the lighthouse? I was wandering if you would know. Fantastic clip as always and please keep this fascinating series up I look forward to your new clips each week, Best Wishes and Thank you.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I was never posted at Nash, and know nothing about the systems you mentioned, hopefully, somebody that used to be at Nash could answer that one for me? Thank you again, sorry I couldn't answer your question, cheers and take care.

Hi Peter another awesome video as always😁. What would have happened if the fog signal timer failed and was not sounding the character blast of the station? Had it ever happened to yourself during your time in the lighthouse service? Thanks
@PeterHalil
@PeterHalil 11 месяцев назад
Thank you very much. As regards the Fog horn bit, the ones that I've been with were pretty bomb proof and there was always a second backup. Never had one fail on me. I do believe there were recording devises on Lighthouses that were used in enquiries to make sure the fog horn was operating during any nearby shipping calamities. Cheers and stay safe.
