It shows how much potential and work was put into that thing, shame Ubisoft domineered the whole thing and pushed for that shitty script.

Spencer Ricker That was Ubisoft’s doing? “Yeah, we have a script for you, don’t worry, we only put 15 minutes of the boring scenes set in the Spanish Inquisition, the majority of the movie takes place with what makes the games really beloved, all the stuff set in present day!”

I read Macbeth a few years ago in my senior year of high school. I was never big into Shakespeare and often never liked the old english but Macbeth is probably the only story that I actually liked. Maybe one day I will get the time to watch this movie for someone that just loves cinematography and the use of color in movies.

Ya we read it aswell and then watched this last year before our leaving cert and to my surprise I was actually into it because of how striking it was we also watched one with Patrick Stewart which is just boring beyond belief where as this is just levels above

Absolutely 100% yes. I just finished rewatching this movie 5 minutes ago in preparation for your video, and was still absolutely blown away. It almost feels like it glorifies violence with the cinematography looking it's most gorgeous in the beginning and end, but it does the opposite. As you said, it feels primal and I truly love that. Macbeth is my favourite piece of literature and this movie absolutely nails it.

I love this film so, so much! I remember watching it in the cinema when it first came out, and it was like nothing else I had ever seen before. I've watched it several times since then, and I can't get enough of it. It's one of those films where all its elements are pure perfection, from the cinematography and music to the casting and editing, and comprise something of indescribable artistic beauty. Every single aspect of it is perfect. I'm a big Shakespeare nerd, but I think that this is exactly how modern adaptations of Shakespeare plays should be! It's a criminally underrated piece of art, and I am so glad someone is finally talking about it, especially someone as passionate about film making as you. Thank you for making this video!

I fell in love with the story of Macbeth from the first time I read it in school. Once I learned about this movie, and that my favorite actor ever was portraying the man himself, I knew I was going to love it. My jaw still drops at the unbelievable spectacle of this movie, and the powerhouse performances of every single actor involved, down to the extras. Thanks so much for covering this masterpiece. Edit: my username here on RU-vid was actually Hail Macbeth for a long time before I changed it to my name because I need to make my Google account all professional. 😅

After I watched it I found every BTS video I could and had the soundtrack on repeat for weeks. Super underrated, and master class in how to make something beautiful without $100M.

i have been yelling about this movie since it dropped in 2015. I listened to the soundtrack all the way through and had to walk it off. The heavy use of drone notes is amazing... by the end it's like waking up from hypnosis or something - it's that good. thanks for sharing the love!

I know :( there isn’t a lot of Macbeth adaptations out there and it’s one of my favorite Shakespeare plays next to Romeo and Juliet. The closest I thought was good was an Akira Kurosawa feudal era adaptation of the play and it was beautiful and amazing. I have yet to see this one and it’s been on my radar since I’ve heard of its release. Great video! Glad to know you’re doing great and being safe! 👍😊

Mat here: I thought I’d commented, but realised I hadn’t! Sorry!!! Wonderful video. The movie is absolutely stunning, and you captured the experience of it. One negative thing I will say about it is the audio design has maybe ‘too wide’ a dynamic range. If you’re fortunate enough to be able to turn it up so all the whispering and mumbled close-talking is easily audible, the big moments are HUGE. But I don’t have that luxury in my apartment, and it was hard to make out lots of the dialogue without turning the dynamic range on my amp down and the voice enhancer on. To it’s credit in the same breath, the picture tells the story better than the words, better than my understanding of Shakespearean dialogue, and I felt the pain, paranoia, and turmoil in the frame.

Blade Runner 2049. Second is Macbeth. Macbeth may have been first but I never got the chance to see it on the big screen while I saw 2049 on a huge IMAX screen. And that will of course cloud my judgement. But both are absolutely stunning films.

I do think that the pacing on this film wasn't great, but i remember watching it with my jaw on the floor in places. its a weird watch because honestly i think its visually one of the best movies ever made, but story itself (for me) wasn't well executed. I found myself watching for the spectacle, not the narrative because he renders the story so dry (shakespeare can be said with A LOT of heart and still be totally true to page, but I found the actors here often spoke like they didn't fully understand what their lines meant)....that being said damn what a visual spectacle it is. there are scenes of this movie that look like an oil painting. 100% the most gorgeous film ever shot

I agree with how stunning this movie looks, but I thought the movie was terrible. The battle scenes are some of the most pretentious, annoying scenes I’ve seen in any movie. An example of how just being stylistic for no reason other than flash, loses the audience quickly. I remember everyone leaving the theater by the middle of the film, because of how ridiculous, and pretentious it all was. Also I’ve never heard such lousy, inaudible dialogue. Couldn’t understand what the actors were saying for the majority of the film. A problem, that I know a lot of people had. Cinematography is again beautiful, but I thought the rest was just garbage.
