I love the muted blues and purples you create - I watch it through once ( so I know what’s coming) then I go back and follow along as I paint … usually towards the end you go a bit toughe and say - it’s your painting do what you want! Keep ‘em coming!

It’s not so bad, but I do agree with you that in the beginning it was a little daunting!! So I kept practicing here and there until I felt I was there! Plus I’d watch other artist back then and studied their work and finally it started to click. Then you start having your own technique on how to approach the subject. If it makes you feel any better I’m still learning from others!

🎨Thank you Karim !! I'm watching this now. I like when the reference photo is on the screen, even though you've said there's no need to follow it exactly. With the reference on there we can see how you form your rendering and adapt to your technique. My only lament will always be -- that you paint on too small of a canvas. 😁 I keep thinking wow if only that canvas was larger. But as always your skills and teachings are much appreciated !! 🌷
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks Год назад
Thank you very much!! Point taken, I’ll try for a larger canvas! How about an 11x14?
@blackdiamond5507
@blackdiamond5507 Год назад
@@GebahiArtworks An 11x14 would be awesome !! 😀😎🎨 P.s. Your clouds look so neat in this painting !! And you do it so effortlessly lol. Maybe that's part of my problem with clouds, I try too hard for "perfection" instead of going more for feeling and *impression*. P.p.s. Wow those rocks really added another dimension to the painting !! They kind of lead you into the rest of the picture. Very cool !! 😎
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks Год назад
@@blackdiamond5507 thank you!! Yes, stop looking for perfection, everyone falls for that trap, including me sometimes! Go for the feel or the essence!

Yet another beautiful painting! Water and especially waves always seem so daunting to an intermediate painter. I appreciate how relaxed you seem even with small mistakes. You shrug it off and fix it. This helps me tremendously ... I make a lot of mistakes while painting 😂 I'm going to try and paint this one today 🤞🤞 Thanks for another great lesson!
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks Год назад
My pleasure 😊!! I know it can get frustrating when making mistakes, especially with acrylics, but remember you didn’t invest too much time and it’s just a painting! Sometimes I have to remind myself. It’s happened to me before while doing a live video!

@@GebahiArtworks . It's true, back in the old days artists were begging to sell a painting 🎨 and they were looked down upon and told to get a real job, not anymore with RU-vid! RU-vid is making a lot of people very rich 🤑!

@@craig4867 yes, some, particularly those those that have been on the channel since the beginning! Now the algorithm is set for those stupid prank videos that get lots of views and other nonsense vids. Sometimes I don’t get it, the dumber and useless the video, the more likes and views! Sometimes it’s frustrating, and of course RU-vid is more likely to suggest those vids rather than mine because of money! I can’t win, sometimes I’m just discouraged, Lol! But whatever, I guess one day some people are going to come to the conclusion that they may need to learn something useful that can help them actually make money for themselves and not others! I’m just sitting back and do what I do.

@@GebahiArtworks . Regardless, you're still making a pretty good living and you do a darn good job! Loved this, nicely done. Did you do any Gesso or other priming on that canvas board or just use it as it came? I keep seeing in other videos that you have to Gesso before you paint.
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks Год назад
If it were a new panel then I would leave it alone and not gesso it because I’m using a linen panel which has a finer weave! But I will gesso a panel or stretched canvas if it were already painted on. That’s what I do with the panels for tutorials, I keep recycling them by using gesso or Zinsser primer sealer Lowe’s!

Great tutorial! An hour is a good length to teach. I was wondering why no highlights on the front rocks. I think they could use some.
@GebahiArtworks

Thank you very much!! The reason is because they are not the main focus and also to give contrast against the light on the water!

Hello,vI am impressed by your style and expertise, I have subscribed and enjoyed pretty much all your work. I have a question on water-soluble oils, I see everyone has a set, I see everyone telling me they have used W.S.O's. I have yet to see anyone say this is my preferred method. My question is do you have a theory why artists are not using these paints?
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks Год назад
Good question!! I’ve used them in the past, and there is a learning curve, but my main issue with them (although they are practical), was that they took a long time to dry and stayed tacky FOR A LONG TIME!! And I got annoyed! And I think that’s what no one talks about. They just go back to traditional oils. But I finally found a way to work with them, and I may do another tutorial about it and I’ll mention all this as well! Thanks for bringing it up!

So simple and beautiful! Learned a lot! Thank you very much. I really like the way you teach. If I want do the same painting in oil, will it be the same technique? For me oil painting takes longer time, is that right? What is the ideal time for an oil painting of this size? How many layers it should be? Is it better to have more layers?
@GebahiArtworks
@GebahiArtworks Год назад
It’s my pleasure!! I actually this painting in oils originally, and did this tutorial in Acrylics due to demands. You may have to do this in 2 stages! I did the original oil Painting in 2 stages and it was an 8x10. I don’t know your skill level in oils but if I had to do it, maybe about an hour. You can see it on my Facebook page: www.Facebook.com/gebahisrtworks
