Had a little setback in my cargo van business journey. This is why I post consistently so you can see in real time all the ups and downs of this business. 2 months in and we still Rollin. Patience is one of the keys to success. Taking a new course now, but the journey will continue.

I just got my van 2 weeks ago. I was quoted by Progressive $971 for the $1m coverage. I decided not to move forward with it as well. I’m not comfortable having that additional expense either when I have no contracts or dispatchers secured. And the industry is down right now from what I’m hearing from others in the industry. Keep pushing brother! I’m gonna stick with the gig apps, misc work and side hustles I can get going in the meantime.

That's very smart. Keep reaching out and eventually you'll find a good dispatcher. Congrats on the van, wish you the best and hope it's life changing for you. Mush respect 👊🏽

I watched all your videos. I love what you have been doing. I have been in truck driving, and know alot of owner operators. They suggest to let your MC number to mature 6 months before jumping on load boards. If you have 6 months down, more brokers will mess with you. I would suggest to keep doing what you are doing for the 6 month period. It sucks to put out the extra money, but you would be able to jump on boards. Just keep running like you are in the mean time. I wish you the best.

Also, I grew up in body work. Glad you are okay from the hit and run. I'll let you know, getting that fixed out of pocket would be cheaper, and you save yourself the strike on the insurance. If you are not that working about the scrapped up bumper, it doesn't look that bad to put it back on.... zip ties work great, and you can have a shop do a little sanding, and buffing on it to see what can come out. Might surprise you. They can probably do the buffing, and tie it up decently for like a few hundred bucks.

I have a Ford Transit 250 with medium roof. It's a V6 3.5L regular gas. You don't need anything special. I didn't get diesel because it's more expensive. Diesel does usually last longer but long as you take care of your van, you'll be fine.

New most companies don't like to hire new Authorities no one is talking about that... So you might want to have 5k to 10k saved to pay for the million dollar insurance just in case you don't get loads for a few months. It takes 30 days for your new Authority to become active... It's something to think about for new people.....

You don’t need an MC/DOT to cross state lines in a Cargo/Sprinter Van, you’re under the 10,000 lbs. weight limit requirement this rule is written for. I see a lot of folks confused by this. I have my own local clients and don’t rely on load boards or brokers. (Very little available anyway) I got the 300K/25k Cargo with Progressive as well. Get some business cards / website and build your own clientele, don’t rely others, they will just take the lion share of your hard work.
