A little summary on how this assignment is going for me. I can’t wait to get it over with! As you will find out from the video, this assignment isn’t terrible but I just know I have to move on.
However, the call schedule is good unlike my last assignment 🙃

I’m looking into becoming a CST with the goal of traveling once I have enough experience. Not exactly the same thing as what you do, I know, but still pretty close. I doubt I’ll ever become a FA, but you never know. 😂 It’s interesting hearing what it’s like dealing with the recruiters & how things go at the assignments. Thanks for your videos. 🙂

In school for surg tech now🙋🏽‍♀️ traveling as a CST is defintely the goal for me too, these videos still are really helpful and I enjoy different perspectives we have different roles in the OR but all on the same team and motive of caring for the patient😉 (aeger primo)

@@dontjustbeanotherbrickinthewal I make sure I take a contract in an area where I can afford rent. I can afford anything below $1300/mo. Fortunately, I have been able to find furnished apartments with the prices I want. I go on furnished finder, Airbnb and check out facebook groups.

Don't ever let people talk down you, about the education you know you've earned! The OR can be so clique-ish sometimes. They also get upset knowing your hourly rate is double theirs!

Some people still act like they are in high school. It’s annoying when people assume things about you.

Hii🤗 quick and random question I hope you see ..do you remember learning about variety of suture and needle types/sizes? We are on this now and my head is about to explode, nothing new through the semester lol. We have a test coming up ig they are only going to show the suture and we have to identify it I don't really understand why bc the packages are labeled anyway we can only see and feel them like monocryl, biosyn, prolene, PDS /ethibond, nylon, etc etc. Any tips that helped you to recall and overall recognize? I understand it may just come with time like learning all the instruments, but I'm just a lil overwhelmed everything's happening superrr fast I hope I can keep up😩

Hey! Yes I do remember going over types of suture and their sizes. I think I remember making my own flashcards for memorizing suture. For example, monocryl is commonly used to close the skin. It’s absorbable and it’s a monofilament. Vicryl can be used to close fascia and muscle. It’s a multifilament and it is absorbable. And then silk is non absorbable and “natural” and can be used on bowel. I used the notes we used from class and used that information to study.

So you’re a First Assist without first being a Surgical Tech? I didn’t know that was possible. So do you close? Retract? How do you know the instrumentation? I hope this isn’t coming off rude, I’m genuinely curious.

The program I attended taught us everything we need to know. If you ever see a PA or NP work with the surgeon in the operating room, that is what I do. I do have a couple videos explaining my education and how I got into the program.

I have a feeling I'm going to run into something like this as a travel X-ray tech because I do not want to do OR
