I'm glad you talk about which season you are in. Your day is so sunny and beautiful, it's easy for me to forget we are in different seasons. I'm in mid-south USA. We are also having a beautiful, sunny day (86°F), but our seasons are opposite. Best of luck as you prepare for your winter garden!
Thanks Vicki!! Yes I have more northern hemisphere viewers than southern so I try to mention the season so as not to confuse anyone haha!! Thanks again for watching 😊
I am having a great season for my Blue Lake green beans. I grow them in containers and the harvest has been abundant. I have cherry tomatoes beginning to ripen and the zucchini is blooming. (Southeast USA). Thank you for another lovely video.
Thank you for sharing this video on cleaning and new seeds . And I also like how you explain the growing season that you're in as well I'm taking notes 😄
live south coast nsw, thanks for the videos, I am wondering where you get the tool from? I looked at our bunnings and they didnt have them, the hook blade one in beginning of video
Ha ha my strongest tomato plant was a late volunteer, the rest didn't do much at all sigh hopefully I'll have more luck next season. I'm blanketing most of my beds for the winter with leaves. Do you think I should put compost now as well? I don't have much homemade so would have to buy so don't know whether to do it now or wait until nearer planting time. Take care =-)
Hi Lorraine - sorry for slow reply! Been thinking about your question and what I'd do. If you have to buy it in - depending on what you buy of course, you may buy it now so that in a few months time you know it's not hot. I buy mushroom compost and often it is too hot still to plant into. Or if you have the materials and energy perhaps make a couple of 18 day composts so that they are ready for spring too. Covering with leaves is a great idea if you don't do anything with compost just now. I hope that answered your question - have a great week!!
Thanks Linda, I'm thinking of buying 20kg bags from a landscape store. I might just buy some mushroom compost and lay a thin layer on top of the leaves.Give it now till Sept to settle. I usually get a trailer of vegemix (not sure what the make up is but it's usually good) at the beginning of the season but the growing last season was disappointing so I think it needs a boost. I still haven't got all my strength back after covid so I think working with bags will have to be the way to go sadly. Really annoying but that's what it is. Thanks heaps and have a great week =-)
@lorrainerichardson3280 I hope your energy returns soon. Certainly frustrating when you can’t do what you want. Mushroom compost on top of leaves sounds like a plan. May just need to push them aside a little come spring for planting. The mushroom compost should give the boost you need!!
It is amazing - so nice to have great compost to harvest next door to the beds it's needed on! Definitely worth the little bit of effort needed to get it built!
