Thanks so much for sharing. LOVE YOUR STORY!!! Before I became loose natural in 2004, I was addicted to the creamy crack and I had ALL of your experiences and then some...including the stuck at the salon ALL DAY LONG!! My loose natural experience was a struggle everyday with my long thick dry tangled combo 3B through 4C hair. Then I moved to wearing braids with extensions and wigs. Spent sooooo much money on faux hair... my goodness. The loose natural run was a great run for 17 years. I realized in summer of 2021 that I have been avoiding the locs because I was concerned about what folks in the workplace would say and think. I decided I did not care anymore what others thought about me or my hair. I needed to be happy with my hair and thats all that matters. So I started my loc research in June 2022. Decided to go for it October 2021. I have DIY microlocs. BEST.... DECISION.... EVER!!!!!! Should have done this 100 years ago!!

IM A YEAR IN AND IN MY TEENAGE STAGE I WORE PERMS SINCE 10 AND IM 34 I STOPPED PERMING WHEN I HAD MY BABY IN 2022 AND I WAS NOT ABOUT TO DO A BIG CHOP (FAST FORWARD) ⏩ I GOT LOCKS AND TRIMMED THE ENDS AS I WENT ON BUT GETTING LOCS WAS THE BEST THING I EVER DID TO MY HAIR💯💯💯NEVER GOING BACK EVER TO EVERYONE WHO SKEPTICAL PLEASE DO IT YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT 💯💯💯💯

@@angelaking9861 Hello Beauty!! Thanks for weighing in! Honey finding the RIGHT loctician is as hard as finding the right partner 🤦🏾‍♀️😂! It hasn’t been easy at all! For now I taught my daughter to do it until I find someone. When I think I’ve found someone they are extremely expensive. Or have high transfer fees! Good luck to you as well and don’t forget to scout the trainees on the site as well! They are good too sometimes just still in training. Also… hey mental health sis!! 😊Thanks so much for watching! 🖤

So sad I can relate. I started my sister locks with relaxed ends and I trimmed over time. But my problem was Finding a loctician who did not do the most. So I can relate horrible horrible customer service that was offered by locticians. You did right by learning to do it yourself

Hello beauty! Yay another person that started like I did! 🎉 So you know exactly what I’m talking about. Yes these Loctician‘s are sometimes really just people who went and learned this craft to make money, not actual hair stylist that care about the hair. There are definitely some that do care, but more that just learned the craft to make the money and that makes a huge difference! The ones that are really good or sometimes the ones you can’t get into because they’re so packed. I wish that everyone that did locs would find it in their heart to truly care about the hair and not about the dollar behind it. I do hope one day to find someone I can trust to take that responsibility off of me and my daughter, but until then I will do it myself lol. Thanks so much for watching and supporting.🖤 P.S. Tyler is my hometown! I currently live in the dfw area. I have traditional locs. I’m thankful that I was able to find a loctician that cares about the health of my scalp and hair. Because you’re right some are only in it for the money.

Okkkkk fellow black counselor. I too started with relaxed ends my daughter did micro locs ( loved that she started them). At almost a year I cut the relaxed ends off. Also had a stylist that combined some. Decided to just do my own hair ❤

Sorta like marriage right?! 😝 I’m sure that’s nerve-racking as heck but exciting and a form of permanent commitment but sometimes so worth it. You got this! As long as you have done your homework on this young lady and you like what you see if hers it should be find and potentially way cheaper since she’s not certified. Keep me posted on how it goes! Yea I feel on the maybe being jealous because my edges are so thin and Im hoping they grow back. Had an african hairdresser that seen it getting thin but never tried to help me with styles or tell me maybe I shouldnt get that because of them thinning..smh Dont forget to let us know what you used! I need it so badly...lol. Born in Longview, tx but grew up in Gladewater. I live in the DMV area and so glad I was able to find a full service loctition. Reties costs $130 but includes washing and conditioning which Im so happy about. Its so hard finding a good hairdresser had someone when I first moved up here color my hair had to cut most of it off. And I was 100% natural so I was pissed. I so wish I knew about sister or microlocs back then. My hair and at least I still had thick edges would have been so long. But I didnt know anything about the smaller locs just traditional which I really didnt like. But love being locked 9 months and still having unraveling...smdh

This is a positive use of social media & am grateful for all those willing to share their experiences. It really has helped me a lot in journey.
