Ha - I was starting to get a little worried - but was he still there the following morning!! ;) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
You put some miles in! My husband (@Hunt on the Trails) and I reached Sligachan mid afternoon on day 4 and we weren’t hanging about! We learned our lesson about walking on Tarmac in boots on the Coast to Coast in 2020. Agony. We’ve walked in trail shoes ever since except in winter and foot pain is a thing of the past. Really enjoyed the video - nice to see the trail from a different perspective.
1 hour long Scotland’s Mountains video in Skye. Merry Christmas Murray, thanks for the quality content you continue to put out. I’ll be back in Scotland next year to walk the West Highland Way. If I have time I may tackle curved ridge along the way.
Hope you have a great trip when you get back to Scotland :) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Half way through watching it. That camp spot on the second night on the east side of the island overlooking the water, Rassay and the mainland looks absolutely phenomonal. It has to be one of the best camp spots I've seen in your videos!
Hope you enjoyed it Rory - yeah that camp spot wasn't too shabby :) - although IMHO the best camp spot is coming up in part 2 :) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
I'm so looking forward to your beautiful videos. Your photography is amazing, the scenery breathtaking. Thank you so much. During this time in a confused world your videos bring back sanity. Liv in Ontario Canada.
One of my favourite places too. On the scarp near Ben Edra had lovely encounter with a Golden Eagle showing off - he flew level with me along the cliff , only about 40 ft away, turned his head to look at me, then closed his wings for a plunge down, then back up again ! Was at the southern part of the trail, Armadale up to Talisker last June Bikepacking - beautiful scenery. Great video Murray, look forward to the second half, especially Loch Eishort area. All best.
The Loch Eishort part in next weeks video is , well, erm , interesting - lets just leave it at that ;) lol Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Wow if ever anyone needs inspiration just watch your videos I’m almost seventy and and have been planning a fishing trip to Skye but fancy doing a small part around Portree, the scenery and the solitude is just awe inspiring, thanks to you both. 👏 👏
Skye is such an amazing place Richard - I already cannot wait to return :) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
You broke the magical 1 hour Murray and what a fantastic time to do it and what a special place to give us such a marvellous video. Absolutely loved watching this and was definitely worthy of the big TV. Thanks for sharing and for all the other videos this year. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
Thanks Tony - definitely better on the big Tele ;) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Hi Murray, great opening drone shots, you've been working hard. I saw Tom's video a while ago and knew your's would be coming along in good time. It was well worth the wait.
Outstanding Murray! Just outstanding!👏👏👏👏👏Cant wait to see the next part of the adventure! The views!👊😎You can just hear the atmosphere! Have a great Christmas!🎅
You certainly pulled out the stops on this one. One of our favourite places too and why we stay in Torrin every year. Well worth the cuppa and biscuits.... and chocolate 😊
Hope you enjoyed it :) I preferred part 2 - but you'll not have seen that one yet !!lol hope you can catch it next week :) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Ever since my first visit there in 1994 I have always thought of Skye as my favourite place on the planet. Unusually I have mostly been blessed with great weather whenever I have visited too. Great idea for an adventure Murray. Terrific !
Skye has to be one of the most beautiful places on the planet (I may be slightly biased though ;)lol Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
did the Skye trail ultra race back in May 2018, started at 5am from Duntulm telephone box, weather was fab and got to see the Trotternish ridge in all its magnificent glory. have never had as big blisters, but was worth it. Your latest vlog brought back lovely memories 😊. there are a couple of springs on the ridge which were a godsend on the warm sunny day we had. thanks Murray for your latest offering!
Hi Susan - bet your time was a little less than ours ;)lol an amazing place and the Skye trail has to be one of the best in Scotland if not the UK :) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Skye is one of the most beautiful places on earth :) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
If only I could - think I would need about 100 times higher views to be able to do that - in meantime I'll have to make do with fitting these adventures in on my annual leave lol (just back from a Knoydart adventure which I did on my first few days of Xmas Holidays :) - so glad I have an understanding wife aka the boss;) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
A HOTEL?! MURRAY EATING IN A HOTEL? You must be getting old and nesh (or going up market) 😆 Have to agree with you - Skye is probably my favourite place also love the Slig too - amazing boozer in an amazing location
If you had seen the first hotel we had some food - then your message would've had more exclamation marks ;) lol Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
The drone shots are beautiful The wind..my goodness..no bugs…. but your tent is beating you up at night! Stunning landscape , I can’t get over how much you’ve hiked. A nice night in the camper , you both looked drained Looking forward to part 2 Take care 🇨🇦 🎄 ❤️

Thank you ❤️ No eyes are dry. This magical island is just... No words. Very emotional. One of the best experiences on our trip to bonnie Scotland in 2019. Stay safe and Happy new year 🙏🎉
I did South to North 10 years ago, a great trip, a magical place, I got married in Portree in October, it never leaves you, great video Murray, it's made my year!!
Enjoyed that Murray. Ironically when we did the Trotternish Ridge it was windy too, had to drop off the ridge to find somewhere sheltered to pitch. Hope the knee holds out for part 2. 😁👍🏻
Just watched this while sitting in a house in the West Midlands, as Storm Eunice passes over and loved every second of it. The wife and myself have been quite well travelled, but the place we always look forward to going back to, is Skye, love the island, love the people and even love the weather !, thanks for the vlog and looking forward to watching part two
Its an amazing place. I'll need to go back to The Quirang when the cloud is less and the midgies even less so!!lol Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Hullo from Derbyshire in England We have always followed and enjoyed your videos .. mainly because our hearts are in Scotland . I am a Wildlife photographer and love walking spending a lot of time in the Highlands and Islands .. even St Kilda . Thank you .. you keep us going until we can return to Scotland .. hopefully Isle of Mull in March .. best wishes to you and your family for 2022 .. stay healthy and safe . Chris & June
So thats what the trotternish ridge looks like (well, bits of it!). I attempted the skye trail a few years ago, starting at uig from the ferry and went up the fairy glen joining the skye trail roughly at your first camp. Main reason for the walk was i wanted to see the ridge. Entire time i was on it was pouring rain and fog. Didnt see a thing. I did shelter for lunch at that same wall in the bealach, so i recognise one bit! I also went off route a few times in the fog. Too often i didnt bother looking at my gps thinking i cant go wrong, its a ridge!
Hello! Thank you again for inviting us to follow in your footsteps through the magical Scottish trails. Greetings from Algeciras (Spain). Merry Christmas!!!

I delayed until Christmas day to watch this, thank you Murray and Tom probably one of my favourite presents, you both have a Great Christmas you deserve it, and the delight on my face just now is because of those final lines "to be continued" Woo Hoo bring on part 2.
This is AMAZING; the commentary is entertaining and informative, the cinematography is world class! You are a 1 man Scottish Tourist Bureau! Ive subscribed
14 mins in and another beauty so far. Would holiday with the family growing up from 5 -15 yrs old on the other side of the water in mallaig/morar and visited 3 of the 4 small Isles(not canna) as well as skye of course. Stunning place, can't wait to visit again, its been a few years. Thanks for sharing ure trip.
Excellent effort gents. Perfectly documented as usual Murray. I've had the Skye trail in my sights for quite a while - hopefully this coming year. Thanks for sharing. 🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾🥾⛺😎

Ohhh lovely! Absolutely beautiful...as always Murray! 😊 Sharing...Oklahoma, USA Loves Y'all! I hadn't had time to watch ya in a while...but I come an watch as soon as I have time..just lovely! Merry Christmas..😊
Hi from Edinburgh. Much recognition for your BBC standard cinematography and sensitive narration that captured the exotic nostalgic scenary of a Scottish isle. The sea, landscape and weather made me think of some moon in a scifi movie. Good work.
Lucky man indeed Robert - Skye is such a wonderful place and what an amazing place to live - not at all jealous ;)lol Thank you for you kind comment - hope you enjoyed the two videos of our journey across Skye :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
A very enjoyable hours viewing. That wind was brutal by the looks of it. Thanks for sharing the adventures throughout the year. Have a great Christmas Martin
Twas a tad windy for High Pressure being in charge (apparently ;)lol Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Nice one lads. 👍 Hope u had a good crimbo & new year Murray. Some camp spot on night 2 👌 Always fancied doing the Skye Trail. It's finding the time. Hope yis had a pint or twa at the end 😉🍻
Thanks Kevin - it was a fine spot for a camp :) Absolutely with you on the time part - this was my summer hols this year (well the one week I am allowed to go and roam ;) - maybe back to normal weeks away next year - travel restrictions dependent!!). Pints were enjoyed by Tom , orange juice for me as was in van :( lol. Hope you and yours had a great Christmas and Happy New Year to you sir :) Take care M
Part 1 completed and straight in to Part 2 now 👍Great timing Murray in releasing these two videos at Christmas - wonderful viewing as I sit with my leg up while resting/stretching a sore heel. A wonderful watch 😊
Thanks Miriam - that's nearly 2.5hours - hope you aren't sick of the sight of me after watching the two episodes !!lol Take care, thanks for watching and a Happy New Year to you when it comes :) ATB Murray
I knew this would be worth waiting to find the time to watch this properly! Very much looking forward to part 2. PS Hearing all those words that you only hear in Scotland makes me smile. :-)
Another great video, Murray. I enjoyed watching Tom's version of this on his channel when it came out, and enjoyed yours just as much. Merry Christmas, and a Guid New Year, when it comes.
i love your videos mate, especially with camasunari beach. i went there camping as a young lad and it brought back many memories, your videos have inspired me to get out and take in the scenery of the uk. theres more to weekends than just clubbing.
Great Vlog, ever since watching Toms vlog on this adventure I have been waiting for yours and it has not disappointed, as others have said real quality, fantastic hours viewing and thanks for sharing. All the best for Christmas.
Excellent stuff Murray. The Trotternish is probably one of my favorite walks to date , we had the same problem with the wind on it. Good to see it again ..cheers Stevie
Watching on Christmas night with a Singleton then Glenmorangie, a very enjoyable watch as always, had seen Thomas’s video ages ago, was looking forward to watching your version. Merry Christmas Murray.
Got the xmas nibbles out for this one. Starting watching this video and it felt familiar, it was'nt until 40 minutes in i realised you had Heaton as a companion, saw his vlog on his channel. What a trek with those early winds. Good going Murray
Thanks Gary - it was indeed hard work :) Part 2 now up - got my scheduling a bit messed up so has been out since midnight !1lol Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Thanks Murray and Tom. You have given me the inspiration for next year's walk in Scotland. I plan to start on 27 April (to avoid the midgies). Looking forward to Part 2. Have a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year. Yours aye, Norrie frae Lithgae.
Another fabulous video You have a lot to answer for, as my list of things to do and places to see is getting longer !! Lol Just love sky What rucksack is it you used as I can’t see a name I need one that stays wide at the base and not narrows Anyway please keep these videos coming Fantastic to see more of sky
Awesome video and stunning scenery Murray. Hope you can make it down here to NZ one day and film some of your adventures while you are here. Entertaining video as always 👍
I took on the trail with my friend Alex Staniforth a few years back (it was featured in Trail magazine). Unfortunately the weather was so horrendously bad (60mph winds and never-ending sideways rain) half way through the second day (our first ‘day’ was only a couple of hours because we didn’t arrive at Rubha Hunish until 5pm, so we were camped just south of Kilmaluag) and for all of the third, that we had to bail by the time we got to Portree. Rivers further south were also in spate, so we were worried they’d be impassable by that point. Our second day was a similar length to yours - just south of Kilmaluag all the way down to just before The Storr. 17-18 miles. Brutal in such awful conditions. Pleased to see the bits we missed! Would certainly love to go back and complete it one day. Fabulous video and a great evening watch.
Thanks Ste - sounds like the weather gave you a bashing - we were sooo lucky with the weather (apart from the gales on the Trotternish ridge). Cant wait to get back to Skye next year :) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Beautifully presented Murray!! I soooo want to get back there. When you made it to Slig, I could literally taste the venison stew my wife and I had when last there. 🍲🍺🥰. Next time in Portree stop at Isle of Skye Baking Company for some trail-ready "calories". 🤣
Jesus mate, I wild camped on the isle of skye a few years ago....first night was great, calm and icy, second my tent was flapping like yours , third washed away with water up to my knees!
What an amazing trip and fantastic video - so much work and, as always, beautifully shot, so thank you. Very timely for me as I move to Skye permanently in 11 days, so super excited. This trip is clearly a must do. Can’t wait for part 2! Happy Christmas to you and the family 🎄
You Lucky thing Fiona - hope the move goes well :) Have a good Christmas and Seasons Greetings to you and yours :) Take care and thanks for watching ATB Murray
Cracking film & effort there you two👍🏻💪 you certainly powered through the distance’s, this trail looks like one for the future to me , looking forward to the next one . Thankyou
