Wolvie 619 I can't see why they wouldn't make that a pack in. Then again I can't see why the 3ds XL didn't come with a charging cable. Given the lack of launch titles you'd think they'd include it with the console. it all reeks of Nintendo nickel and diming you.
Wolvie 619 It probably was to start with, then when they realised there's no launch titles and isn't gonna sell well they decided to charge for it and earn a bit of extra money
Wolvie 619 Let's be honest, it really should have. I will be picking up a Switch next year when more games are out and hopefully it will have Bundles by then.
Nintendo said that this is the replacement for the Wii U only, and that the 3DS will not be discontinued. However, the DS was not supposed to replace the Game Boy but that sadly did happen only 1 year after its release so...
The DS was backwards compatible with GBA games, though. The Switch doesn't have anywhere to insert (3)DS game cards, nor does it contain cameras or a microphone, so even if it's powerful enough to emulate the 3DS (and Nintendo was to provide the games on VC), you would still need some accessories to get full compatibility (let alone stereoscopic 3D, which would be impossible without a whole extra screen).
From my limited understanding, the Switch has a modified 3DS OS, so maybe some sort of add on like those region unlocking cartridges for the SNES would work?
3DS consoles have already stopped shipping to stores, it's all 2DS from here on out. And if the 2DS is the only version available, the whole system is, sadly, doomed, because nobody wants that shit.
@@elfofcourage surely the chintendo one would be the twich, seeing as their formula seems to be 'take the existing name and go to the previous letter in the alphabet'
It does run a bit better when docked. It overclocks using the direct wall electricity. It doesn't have external GPU though which is what I think you meant to say.
Dr. Sinclair lel i have a custom made sony micro sd reader so i can plug it into my computer. I cant remember what the name of there shitty sd's are called because i dont own a psvita anymore it got lost and when i found it the screen didnt work
(Modern) Apple: a hedfon jake? Me: yes, also how cant you remember them and you had space to fit in the headphone jack. Apple: oh yeaaa i rember... just look down and count to five Me: ok 1 2 3 4 5 and ok... he is gone
Ah yes, a fragile portable console. Brilliant pairing. Seriously though, even if you are careful with it, you're probably gonna scratch the screen by accident at some point.
Its a big, expensive HDMI cable with a charging cable. 90% of it is cheap plastic and yet somehow it costs so much. I guess the screen scratching feature is worth the price.
You would think any games company wouldn't mind uploads of footage. Its not like we can play the game on youtube or anything, and seeing a game being played is the next best thing to a having playable demo... you know, those things that help the buyer to decide if a game is worth buying. Come to think of it, gameplay footage on youtube is, effectively, free marketing. If anything, Nintendo should be paying the uploader!
me: oh boy can't wait to get a switch! I'll make sure to get it a screen protector so there's no dock scratches haha. "The cheaper screens can get melted by the switch because it gets a bit hot" *EXTREME SWEATING*
I can't believe they are asking more than $10 for it. Half of the minigames don't even work properly because the console can't actually track your movement.
Rian Sillett So? If he doesn't like something, he's free of expressing his opinion on it. The company has shown us that they can do great minigame-based titles multiple times (main example is WarioWare, as he said), and 1 2 Switch looks like a less creative, limited and not as fun version of games like WarioWare, Wii Party etc. And it's also more expensive. It's not like he has to buy it if he don't like it, but he has the right to express his opinion on it, even if you disagree with it.
"I think I have it the wrong way round" *joycon strip is actually the right way round* no wait please don't "Here we are *slides the wrong way on and it gets stuck*" NOOOOOOO 9:05
To be honest this is one of the best 'unboxing'/reviews of the Switch I have watched. There's no extra, unnecessary talk but goes straight to the point. Really appreciating this.
Osmosis Jones because getting someone to stick em on or letting a robot do it is more expensive than just extending the shitty plastic mold to do the same (but scratchy) job
+Nick Gregory I remember when the first vibrating phones were released and soon after that some Japanese people had made a porn movie about a woman who had plenty of vibrating phones around her body and different men made phone calls to her...
Oh don't get me started on CEX. They had a dozen Switches on display and were selling them £350 each! Highly doubt there were that many Scalpers going to the same shop in Norwich, it just made it look like the store themselves bought those to sell back. Bloody hell.
ThunderPsyker they were offering 300 in cash on release day so people were taking theirs in to make a profit for doing nothing. Cex always does it on launch. Launch of psvr they gave more than retail price in cash for the, because they sold out smother knew they could charge more for them also
ThunderPsyker CEX are scamming fucks. Remember when PsVR was selling like hot cakes at Christmas season for £350? Yeah, CEX was selling a dozen of them for £550. They did it with Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver by selling them for £70 because of the PokéWalker. Now the switch? I probably won't ever go to CEX again.
To be fair to Nintendo as everyone is cheap being cheap as fuck, they're all using the same shit electrostats and apparently the PS5 consumes them like tic tacs and drifts even faster than the bloody joycons and I'm on my third set of those. It's an industry wide issue where they can see the advantage in cheaping out on the controllers to make more money and then when they fail but before the real scandal hits they can sell loads more to replace the failures they knew would happen.
King Allant he's misrepresenting it. It is designed to pop off instead of breaking if the pressure gets to high. You can just pop it back in instead of having a broken switchstand.
I get Nintendo systems for their first party games only. I skipped out on the Wii U, so I picked up the switch with Zelda. I love it so far. People will always bitch about Nintendo, some warranted, some not.
I think it's mostly just trolls. Most of the people that comment on how awful something is, have never even owned the thing that they are commenting about; they just see others comments and jump on the band wagon. Nintendo is far from faultless, but I honestly will never understand the vitriol others have over something that doesn't affect them whatsoever 🐸☕️
Outrage Quitter Your generalization is shallow at best. There are Nintendo, Zelda and Switch owners that does not like it. You must be a Switch fanboys because according to you non-owners and haters are just trolls. Yea ok! I own a PS4 does that mean I have to like it? Nah!
zZiL341yRj736 why does me liking something suddenly make me a fanboy? I'm not a "fanboy" because I'm not a child. If I'm a fanboy of anything, I guess it's video games. I like consoles. I like my PC. I have a PS4, Xbone and obviously a switch. I have no idea why, what someone else plays video games on, draws such ridiculous comments from others.
I was so afraid that people weren't going to buy it, because of it being a new idea made by Nintendo and the lack of launch titles. I'm glad to have been proven wrong. Maybe one day I'll be able to buy one.
@@TheMarioManiac I haven't been able to afford one so far, sadly. If memory serves me right, it was competing against building my own PC. I went with that instead. I don't regret my decision, as of right now. Thanks for asking.
Woah! In UK they charge more for digital? That's crazy! In the US they are the same price. I always thought digital copies should be cheaper since they done need to spend money on a physical cartridge, packaging, shipping, and shelf space.
Technically, they could offer it cheaper digital, as they don't have any physical production costs. But once they do that, retail copies are done for and business relations between retail and manufacturer are soured and buried forever. It's just a matter of time till it all becomes fully digital. Bonus of digital is also that I have had games in the past I missed when they were in stores. If they all become digital (for the most part) they'll always be available during a console's lifetime.
A bit late but that was a big thing that Ashens brought up during his Wii U review, was quite comical that games where either more expensive as digital or not even available.
@@VegaDI86 Not necessarily true. There are a lot of advantages to physical copies of the game that digital doesn't offer. 1) Physical copies don't take as much space on your device's storage, that goes without saying. 2) Physical copies actually feels like it's YOUR game, not just borrowing it forever from the company. With a physical copy, I can give it to a friend to play for a while if I'd like. I can sell it when I am done with it. Physical copies look damn nice when stacked neatly on a shelf for decorative purposes. Can't get that with a digital copy. 3) Digital copies are subject to corruption and software issues. Physical copies may have bugs and things that updates will patch and sort out, but a digital copy can get corrupted and need to be re-downloaded and reinstalled, which is really annoying sometimes. Like suddenly you're playing, and then there's a power surge or an outage while your Switch is plugged in, and now all that digital content is subject to getting corrupted. You'll never have that problem on a physical copy. Because of these reasons, a lot of people still like physical copies, regardless if they are slightly more expensive, the freedom to do whatever you want with the game, as well as higher endurance to issues make them really appealing. In 2018, 83% of games were purchased digitally. By those standards, then there would be no more video game stores like GameStop, but because a significant amount of people still buy physical copies, stores like that continue to exist.
Glad you made this video - I wanted to get a general idea of the console but you know how it is with most videos about brand new consoles, people so giddy with their new toy excitement (and buyer's commitment) that they may as well be paid advertisers fawning over the packaging and AV cables Nice to see a level headed first impressions vid from someone without too much emotional investment.
The hate is real in this comment section. A month or two later the switch is breaking records, I wonder what all those people are thinking now that the switch is a massive success
sizzzta Hey listen here mate your as much of a sheep by Talking as if you hate all Nintendo fans and criticizeing people's opinions. Grow up or stay off RU-vid kid.
Excuse me, but you're calling me a kid, while your grammar is worse than 4'th graders. Good fucking job mate. And if we weren't allowed to criticize other people's opinions, then we would get nowhere. Criticism is essential for a society to work. As an "adult" you would surely understand that, right? So before you run around calling people children, please check yourself. "Check yourself before you wreck yourself".
sizzzta And also Nintendo has been really Successful with the Switch so there is no need for you to say they haven't. While o don't agree with thier Business practices, Marketing for the console and the innovation of CURTAIN THINGS ON THE SWITCH is honestly crazy good. Heel mate.
Overwhelming, overhyped garbage encouraged and paid for by the fanbois, just like the PS Pro. And that dock is fucking disgrace. Seriously, they thought about making their game cartridges child proof but didn't realise that hard plastic runners will scratch the screen?
Now I'm not a graphics snob or anything but I just want to know. How come every time there is new console generation, Nintendo's new console always seems to be performing on last generations graphics and memory. Why is this? Is it because Nintendo usually release their new console after Sony and Microsoft? Or what?
For years now they've ran with a notion that they'd rather spend on R&D to introduce different ideas to play games than to spend on a raw processing power. I suppose it's not entirely unlike how Apple products seem to have lesser value hardware wise than PC counterparts in the same price bracket. It's just a different point of focus to them.
he means compared to ps4 it sucks. the frame rate sucks. zelda lags so often it's annoying as hell. no one will bother making games for it. Can't wait for the new mass effect on PS4, that will actually look and run nice.
john d k c no it isn’t. I have a neon red and blue switch and i popped it out like twice so I could put the micro as card in and the kick stand is screwed up now and doesn’t stay on the switch
then you did something HORIBLE Wrong ore you just did have bad luck with your particular Switch(and you dont need to DETACH the kick Stand from the Switch to put the SD Card in) it was infect design taht it would snap off when you would try to put the Swith for example with it out in the dock so that it woudl not cause any real damage to eitehr of it
SGT_Weber the first time I did it on accident and I have really big hands so when I was putting a new sd card with more storage i popped it off because it was easier for me and the kickstand won’t latch to the switch anymore
then it is proably realy a chase of bad Luck with the Particular Unit... witch sucks... i had not that bad luck i detached and atached the Kick Stands Several times to test it and it fits still quit fine on it
I never know why they did it that way aside for kids who would probably break it easely. Also another one at the other side could granted a bit more stability but other companies thought already about that.
The stand thingy on the back is actually meant to snap off if too much force is applied. It doesn't break from it since the hinge is on a spring type thing, just snap it back on
Eduardo Luna but buying the new one won't allow me to transfer my rock band dlc as I've purchased the majority of rock band on the wii version transferred to wii u and have all three for this system. I'd miss it too much.
I bought a Wii U the day before the Switch launched and I couldn't be happier. I installed CFW on it as well to run homebrew, and the library has far many more offerings than the Switch at this point in time.. including Breath of the Wild. I'll get a Switch once Splatoon 2 comes out and the next batch of consoles has their issues ironed out.
I'm still stuck trying to figure out how "You have to guess how many marbles are in a box" sounds rude! I'm pretty thoroughly stricken by the 'Everything sounds sexually suggestive because I grew up on the internet" curse but even I can't spot the second entendre there.
Ok.... Lets see here..... Its several times more powerful than most tablets, comes with joysticks and buttons (unlike a tablet and phone) gives you the ability to use it on a tv, has wireless motion sensing controllers you use both docked or undocked, and will have indie developer support (Indie developers working on it so far have almost universally positive experiences with it and the dev kit is far cheaper than the Wii U kit was) to give you the sustenance to last till the next first party or (cross your finders) third party games. Don't compare this to phones or tablets that cost hundreds more than this. This could be pretty great if they don't screw it up like the Wii U. (even though I still liked the Wii U's gamepad Idea) *Come at me scrublords I'm ripped* (not really)
well said! Too many people are comparing the Switch to consoles and tablets. While there are down sides to the Switch, when you just make apples to oranges comparisons it gets hard to see what makes the console unique
Olimar Putin Indie and 3rd party games isnt a selling point, I expect that shit. All the indie games are going to be app store rereleases and there won't be very many third party games. The ones that are on will be significantly reduced in graphics, or will be Xbox 360 ports. How fucking fun.
and at the same time you cannot have a calculator on it, i thought the era of "one-purpose" devices ended with first "smartphones" (multi-purpose), but Nintendo (and Sony and Microsoft) can prove that it's not and don't dream to install Android or Linux there - children still cannot even make homework on the "overpowered" console collecting dust. Considering Tegra power, i would like to see it to show Twitch stream in source quality and 60FPS.
Guys i must have a defective console. I have had 0 problems, no scratching, no fps drops no desyncs. Hmm maybe mines faulty since 90% of switch users have these amazing features. Honestly this is one of the best purchases i have made. Sure there will be this awkward few week period with no games post zelda but hey the lineup this year looks good. The console fits my lifestyle and god forbid if i need to play "a big boy game" i have a pc. Im looking forward to this system nintendo gets aaa games that dont feel like shovel ware .
Regarding the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild, I've had atrocious frame-rates through about 40% of the time playing it, something that I haven't seen in the Switch version through video. I recommend you get the Switch version if you are fine with spending $300. the Wii U version is certainly playable, but can be really annoying, especially in villages. Just wanted to give my take on it. It's not the same experience. They may look alike in screenshots, but the frame-rate can be just terrible at times.
Switch= $300 Zelda= $60 Not a broken piece of a shit joy-con controller= 90$ $450 plus SD cards and 1,2,3 switch if your stupid enough to buy it. Roughly $500
I'm one of the three people who actually played the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild and not the Switch version I thought it actually played really well on Wii U, obvious resolution differences aside, but I had no real issues with performance
M H the Switch is the fastest selling console in the world. Even better than PS4 did at launch and it's not even the holiday season yet. They've gone well over 2 million units sold already and Zelda BotW has MORE than a 100% attach rate with the system. Hard to keep an item on the shelves when they all sell out 5 minutes after the store opens.
3 years later... I finally got myself a Wintendo Snitch! Don't know why I put it off for so long. Really like it for commuting and just lounging around indoors or out.
The Switch has a dedicated screenshot/recording button, but Nintendo still doesn't allow video footage on RU-vid? How come there are so many Mario Maker videos here then?
As a fan of Nintendo hardware I like this review even though it has a lot of criticism for the new system. The reason is because of the tone of the review which seems genuinely unbiased. The only way for Nintendo to improve is if they are shown some tough love. Licking their butt won't make things better. That being said, I really love the hardware of the Switch. I especially like the smooth menues and how fast it is to start up the game. And it feels so damned classy on the go. I felt like part of gaming aristocracy sitting on the subway playing Super Bomberman R this morning. It feels and plays so good.
socomseal93 It should have them later. They didn't at when, though. I don't know why they didn't put them in on day one, but they didn't. Also, there's an internet browser it. However, it's hidden, and you have to jailbreak it or something.
Gamerz1997 I should've mentioned that I didn't know how to do that at the time. I only heard about it on the internet, but if I heard any of the rules, I forgot about them.
Considering that this device is a tablet, it is disappointing. Especially because if you want the functionality of a tablet, you'll have to lug around the Switch and a tablet. I anticipate they will have more non-gaming apps, the companies just need time to make them. However, I still feel that an internet browser should have been provided at launch.
socomseal93 I checked, and it's a -hybrid video game system- tablet like monitor, but I'll count that as a tablet anyway, even though this is a game system first and foremost. The thing is, the main point of this tablet is to play games, not be a tablet. Even though it's apparently a tablet, it's not supposed to act like one. It's supposed to act like- and is- a game system. Therefore, if one of the main reasons you're excited for a system is non-gaming apps, you clearly don't know the point of a gaming system. And if you say "but I'm not a gamer. I just want it for non-gaming apps", then just use something that's actually made for non-gaming apps! As a matter of fact, chances are you already have a smartphone. Here's an idea: Use that! You don't need to lug around a tablet to get tablet functionality. You can use you smartphone! That has the functionality of a tablet _and_ a cellphone all in one! It can use cellular signals, unlike the Switch, allowing you to use it where Wi-Fi isn't available! Kinda defeats the purpose of having them on your *handheld gaming system*, doesn't it? I don't think anyone uses non-gaming apps on a system when you have a smartphone to do just that, and probably better. Should they have a browser? They do, but it's not supposed to be accessed by the user, but it's possible. Should they've made it easier to access? It's nice to have that function on your gaming system, but just use a smartphone. It's not like you don't take it with you often if you have one, which you most likely do.
Looks terrible, nothing since the original Wii has been really great and all have been on massively inferior hardware to competitors :( come on Nintendo pull your pants up
Nada, stop nitpicking just because its nintendo. Im not saying the Switch is an amazing console. it has a shit ton of flaws but I say the price is fine. sure the prices on controllers and accessories is expensive. The point is, quit your bitching.
