I’m really thankful you’ve done so many videos on Lupe. I know he can have some weird takes and push buttons, but he has given hip hop so many gems through his albums and mixtapes that get overlooked. I really don’t want him to be another artist that only get his flowers after he passes

This is why you are my favorite person who covers a wide spectrum of topics in the culture. You've always gave Lupe his respect and, as someone who is a huge fan of him, that really means a lot to me. His body of work will he studied in the halls of the universities one day & people will be amazed at the level of art...in general & not just hip hop....that his mind was able to put together & kind enough to release for us to enjoy. The Cool saga alone is like a hip hop tinted version of The Odyssey (no cap). And the poetry in the song The Coolest really is something else. I know I sound like I'm advertising but to any new fans here, I highly recommend looking into Lupe Fiasco's discography. Especially if positivity, layered perspectives and "puzzles" are things that you enjoy 🙂 Thank you for always keeping Lupe's name & his work out here Justin & giving proper context to the things that have happened throughout the years with him.

Tetsuo & Youth is my favorite Lupe album too. I love that someone else appreciates Lupe as much as I do. lol He's been my GOAT since Food & Liquor. There ain't a track on T&Y that I don't love. I have personal connections to Lupe and this album too. He is who made me go from just listening (since I was 8 or 9) to dreaming of being an MC (when F&L dropped). Then I spent an eternity doubting myself, getting in my own way, and whatnot. One night, I went to listen to T&Y in its entirety. I got stuck on Summer. lol A line popped into my head that changed everything. That line became the intro/concept for something I'm working on.

You have to make a very serious and longterm attempt to break down this album to truly appreciate how lyrical it is. Thats why its a iykyk kinda thing. You get people dismissing it without a look thinking that the whole argument hinges on Mural alone, but it doesnt. Adoration of a Magi, Dots & Lines, Mural, Madonna, They.Resurrect.Over.New., Deliver...basically the majority of the album is layered/abstract/complex etc. Anybody who really sat with this album, opened up a book or two, went down a bunch of rabbit holes looking up what Lupe talking about, and then sat with the information for many months while listening and exploring different connections between motifs, references, and ideas until it all comes together knows that Lupe left earth. I have never seen another album as lyrical and masterful as T&Y. And its not a bad sounding album at all. Its pretty good sonically actually. To this day, I have never come across an album that even reaches the level of lyricism that T&Y reached. To talk about other artists in the same breath as Lupe when talking lyricism is so insulting to the genre. You diminish the heights that was achieved. You could go to any institution and throw T&Y in their white faces and they couldnt deny it, but you wanna say its on the level of what some modern reincarnation of 2 pac is spitting? Like we never surpassed the lyrical heights achieved 30-40 years ago?

Lupe has continued to go deeper into his bag after this album. Like Mural Jr is even more abstract than the first one and then you have his loosies like Roc-A-Fella Y’all and Pumpkin Seeds. Kendrick doesn’t rap like that it’s not his style.

For such a broad, unorganized, and nonconformist network collective- 90% of what Anonymous does is incredible and deserving of praise. They care about justice and the collective good… Scientology, Steubenville, the Daily Capper, but my favorite story is still the HB Gary incident where a security ‘expert’ promised to root members out and they made him regret it lol!

This a great story recalling the Lupe/Anonymous situation. I'm not sure how I missed it initially. It also makes me recall a video Justin did with DEHH a while back talking about whether artists should burn out or fade away. If for some crazy reason Lupe had listened to some in that video then we'd have not gotten Samurai.

Tetsuo & Youth is definitely one of those Lupe projects that every time I relisten I find something new. I mean, that’s all of his work. But this one especially every time I listen to it I shoot off 3-4 texts to friends because I just realized what a line meant or made a new connection or have the context to appreciate something differently. Dots & Lines is probably one of my favorite songs of his. Obviously the first Mural. Prisoner 1&2 is one I have to give all my attention to or just skip it. The back to back of Chopper and Deliver feels like the climax of the album. What follows is obviously the great but the energy slows down a bit. Once again you’re gonna make me go listen to an album it’s been too long since I’ve vibed out to. So thank you. 🙏 💚

This album dropped in my sophomore year of college and I've Loved getting to grow with this album and understand it more each year. Just a couple years ago I was raving about how Lupe's lyrics read like a book across the record. The hooks stick, the beats are diverse and fit the mood of each subject, and I find his account of the human experience fascinating. Shout out Anonymous forever, as slimy as 4chan can be.

Drogas Wave is more lyrically advanced and more socially apt. Tetsuo & Youth is more personal and specifically about Lupe, so it's honestly up to preference which is why I think your opinion is valid.
