Awesome to see how the query is viewed from the agents' side! Hoping to see what a query request looks like someday soon. Thank you for these posts!

Thanks for the video. I learned a lots of things about agency. I wish we have literary agencies in Turkey, but unfortunately we don't have. I decided to translate my book into English and try to find an agency. I hope they don't mind that I'm living another country. ( Sorry for my bad English)

I have a query question. I'll try to make it short. Last year I wrote a story and submitted to agents. I got a lot of personal feedback, a manuscript request, and a revised suggestion. Long story short, I got a lot of likes but no agents loved it enough to want it. So I wrote my next book, edited it, and submitted my new story. I expected rejection but none had been personal as my 1st story. So my question for Bookends is, should I be concerned? Should I even compare rejections letters between my 1st and latest project? Should I consider my writing took a step back instead of forward? Or am I overthinking everything? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!

You're over thinking. Brandon Sanderson wrote 11 books or so then landed an agent. Just keep writing and querying. You can also self publish your oldest book if it never finds an agent. Plenty of indy authors make more than traditional.

Some BookEnds agents request other items in their Query Manager form, like target market, similar books, synopsis, and more. Another agency's agent asked for an optional playlist I used when writing. How do you use this information if at all?

Thanks for the info! Question: what does "Event Submission" mean on your QM homepage? What event invitations are sent through QT?
@BookEndsLiterary

These are typically conference requests.

Hi, BookEnds squad. We all really appreciate how active you've been considering what's going on. What is your opinion on resubmitting a project that's been rejected after it's been heavily revised?
@ClintLoweTube
@ClintLoweTube 4 года назад
Change the title. And you can submit to hundreds of other agencies.
@BookEndsLiterary
@BookEndsLiterary 4 года назад
No need to change the title. If you revise, we think you can go back to the agents. Especially those who enjoyed it. Let them know a major revision has occurred, and you'd love for them to consider again. Worst that can happen is they say no. Why say no for them?

I have sent queries through Query Manager and have never gotten that email with the link to message agents and check on my status. Is there a reason why? It doesn't go into my junk folder either.

So when we query Bookends and we put the word count, genre, and title in the form should we then delete that info from the body of the query letter where we would normally have it? I did. But I’m wondering if I should have left it in there
@BookEndsLiterary
@BookEndsLiterary 4 года назад
I'd just leave it in there

When querying an agent, I noticed in this video you were addressed by your first name. Is that okay? Or should one use both the agent's first and last name, or just the formal Mr./Ms. last name?
@BookEndsLiterary

first name is fine.

Sorry to hear that you get harrassing messages sometimes. Even on that screenshot you shared from query manager, the second message on the list looks like they were rudely responding to a rejection. Sorry you have to deal with that sort of thing. You seem like a kind person who doesn't deserve that! But it sounds like you have a thick skin

Can authors see comments you make on a query?
@BookEndsLiterary

If you submit a Word document that has comments on it, yes, the agent will be able to see them! We can also see any messages you send via QueryManager about the manuscript.
