Since the suspension seals were leaking on this Honda CR250, I figured it'd be a great time to look inside the forks and shock. Honestly, dirt bike suspension is fairly simple!

Great stuff! I need to rebuild shock and forks on my 2007 CRF250R. Hoping the guts are similar. So the only specialty tool you needed was the tusk wrench? Please go into great detail on the fork and shock rebuild when the parts arrive. I need to change spring rates on mine too. Sounds like I can save a bunch doing it myself instead of sending them off to a service like factory connection, etc.

I’m thinking of re building my rm125 2008 it’s good condition I would just like to re paint the frame and make aluminium look new again. I will do this when it needs Top end 30-40 hours or so... your vids have taught me so much about bikes and disassembly

Use the top triple clamp and a tie down strap to compress and hold the fork compressed when you unbolt the bottom bolt from the rod.
@BrendanMX

Pro tip, that top cap will be really easy to take out if you loosen the top triple clamp, and of the fork extends out like it’s broke it just came unscrewed inside mine did that

Wow, great video - I think our SAGITTARIUS brains are wired similar. 1- I am rebuilding a yz125 forks and shocks this weekend and this video came just in time. 2- I don't have my vice bolted down either 😂and was wondering if that would be a problem, guess not since you completed the task. 👍 3- I received the Scotch PADS you sent me, Thank you! Your The best!

I never take out the compression adjuster, b/c it's a waste of time. Once I had someone service my shock and they cut my oring on the compression adjuster on installing. You don't need to replace that bladder. That is normal

if you want loose a fork cap...please slide triple clamp more down or in the middle. you compress threads and may damage all this. And it's loose very easily you don't need a hammer and back together same way. OUCH!
@dough3208
@dough3208 6 лет назад
This is a solid tip rottencotton . the threads get compressed from the triple clamp moving the clamp below the threads makes removing the nut a piece of cake .
