I interviewed and got accepted to this school this past cycle though I’m attending a different school. The interview was really great. I had the opportunity to talk with a lot of the staff and some of them even met my family after the interview. Great and dedicated people.

Thank you for drawing attention to the osteopathic profession Dr. Webb! Since my school is way more competitive nowadays, this was a great vid for premeds. As an incoming orthopedic intern, I felt like my osteopathic education went really in depth pertaining to the musculoskeletal system, and prepared me well during my away rotations/ residency coming up, and as a physician as a whole! Would love to meet you sometime as a future colleague :)

A bit late to the game here, but I'm a current OMS-1 here at SOM. I really really like it here. Excellent choice if you're into more collaborative environments. The anatomy staff, in particular, are brilliant. Almost all of them migrated from UTHSCA to here, have a serious passion for teaching, and are readily available to help with students for extra help. Just a really good environment overall!

1.DOs are Medical Doctors although not using MD anymore. 2.DOs are Competitive just like MDs. 3.DOs can perform Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy that can cure and threat patients before prescribing medications which proves to be very effective base on testimonies from Patients and that MDs cannot do this procedure because their not train for it. so this means we can really tell which has more advantages. regarding the Mcat and Gpa scores, to me it should not be the issue because Mcatand Gpa ares not a guaranty that a student is a better than others, there are A students who enrolled in the osteopathy medical schools. but all of the two can work together as primary care provider.

She says it’s myth that DO schools accepts lower mcat/gpa but it is completely true. GPA wise the difference is extremely close 3.7 vs 3.6/3.5. It’s the mcat where you see a bigger difference. I think they try to take the best students they can get and right now it’s so much more competitive the average MCAT for some DO schools is higher than some MD classes.

I feel that the mcat is too old of a test to judge someone’s ability to pass med school and or stay in school and not drop out and simply a way to weed out lower ethnic groups, much like Jim Crow laws. I say this because some people are horrible test takers; myself included. Yet time and time again I always out perform the straight A’s bookworms when it come to hands on approach and know what to do in the real world. ✊🏿 ✊🏿 ✊🏿 Perhaps do a video on this Dr. Webb.

It’s not uncommon for applicants to be accepted with 3.5 gpas, that’s the average gpa she is saying.

Anybody know if MD or DO schools have preference for students that apply from high profile schools? e.g Berkeley, Stanford, Yale Does the MCAT serve as an equalizer?

Brian Mazariegos honestly we don’t really know...obviously the more established the school/how well you do wherever you end up will be the ultimate determinate of where you end up. More prestigious schools tend to be more competitive as an environment as a whole. My DO school had people who went to ivies, private schools, state schools, and even a couple of community colleges for those that decided to pursue medicine later on. Just do the best where you’re at!

I'm writing to ask where your going to be working do you have your own practice and play no because I'm thinking maybe I need to come see you because I have some issues going on with my niece and doctors in the city of reside in of Killeen are not helping me at all with the issue so I'm thinking probably it'll be good to come to your office and pay you a visit of course I have insurance and so if you could leave your address I would greatly appreciate it of the office. That are really good in the Plano area or the Killeen Texas area or can you just tell me about any doctor that would be good to at least give me a look over to see what my injuries are and if there is anything that can be done because I honestly don't believe I need to be in a wheelchair I'm not paralyzed all my faculties still function so I don't think it makes sense that I'm in a wheelchair when I don't have to be! I am honestly baffled when it co/m to my situation why it's so difficult for me to get adequate answers and adequate help!if you know of any good doctors that focus primarily on knees please let me know and steer me in the right direction because I am totally lost and when it comes to figuring out why doctors will not help me!

The same is true at Harvard or Yale or anywhere else. You don't need a medical degree to figure out if someone is qualified for medical school. Besides, the professors and doctors at a medical school have better things to do than sort through and read thousands of applications.
