A Lookback at Brak | Cartoon Network Adult Swim Retrospective 

The reason why Brak's dad was so small was because of a mistake. Brak's dad was supposed to be a normal sized adult, but they accidentally shunk him down to a child's size, and they just couldn't stop laughing, so they just kept him like that.

Its funny supposedly The Coast to Coast creator said he got the idea from a fever dream he had where he saw SpaceGhost hosting some weird dreamy Late Night Show and thats where the idea originated.

"Does anyone remember Two Stupid Dogs" bruh... of course. I still say "Well isn't that cute.... But it's wrong!" to this day.

Brak, Zorak, & Moltar made a special appearance in Jellystone's recent episode "Space Con"

Every time I move my arm it costs the Cartoon Network 42 bucks.

UPDATE: Brak, Zorak, and Moltar all recently appeared in an episode of Jellystone called Space Con! Basically they’re all sick of Space Ghost taking the spotlight, so they hijack his panel (or in this case, Peter Potamus’s panel cuz people are confusing him for Space Ghost as he’s wearing a costume) at Space Con and they attempt to fight him for the audience’s attention. I love that episode primarily because it basically uses the Adult Swim version of Brak, voice and everything. Although he does have a slight sense of the original 1966 Brak in him as he’s a little more villainous, but he’s still goofy. They even reference Cartoon Planet, and The Brak Show as he mentions his mom and Clarence.

I will still quote "The Brak Show" at any opportunity. Me and my brothers still sing Zorak's "With the Spigot on Hot" song from "Psychoklahoma".

Brak is still great till this day!

I watched Coast to Coast and cartoon planet every weekend when it was airing, especially when I had friends sleep over . My dad and I loved it, and I had no idea Coast to coast was supposed to be adults only. Brak was our favorite. This brought me back to.better days... thank you

Omg I am so glad someone else remembers and loves Brak like I do. 😭💕 I have always loved him. I recently rewatched the Brak show and it was every bit as great and hilarious as I remembered. I will always have a special place in my heart for the shows in the early years of Adult Swim. It’s a huge part of what got me through my preteens and teens, along with Homestar, David Firth, and Gorillaz, among others. Thank you for this thoughtful retrospective on one of the silliest characters ever created! ❤

Thanks so much for this video. Brak is my all-time favorite cartoon character. I have all the DVD's that were released from back in the day. I also still have all 3 of the music CD's sitting on my shelf and not surprisingly still remember lyrics to several of them despite not having popped them in for years. It's time for a listen though as back in February I bought my mother a t-shirt that I saved to give her on Mother's Day this year due to the fact those songs were a part of our relationship. It's a shirt with a quote and picture from the Brak song "I Love Beans", that says "nobody comes to visit me in my little cloud". Anyway, long live Brak!

Recently they just showed Andy Merrill as Brak as a parodied version of himself in "Jellystone" Season 3.

Jellystone has sent me on a wild spiral through Space Ghost's history and I'm now retroactively so happy Zorak, Brak, and Moltar got a major appearance in one of Cartoon Network's current shows, even if it was only for one episode

Brak' experience in this timeline feels like my life. I am not proud.

I always loved Brak as a kid. I found the 2012 bumpers after a while and remembered him. That started a multi-year fixation and now I'm Twitter mutuals with Andy Merrill! Andy is a real cool guy, really sweet and still making Brak content with a puppet! He rocks

I am also a huge Brak fan. Anytime I see him pop up anywhere is always a fun time.

As someone who got into Space Ghost Coast to Coast in 2019, I wouldn't necessarily say it's overrated - I fell in love with the show, even being decades removed from it, and being Canadian where we didn't have Cartoon Network and all their promos. I should also mention the Brak special was released on DVD, as a bonus feature on the Brak Show Volume 1 (update - it was just segments, even though the back of the DVD itself claims it’s the whole thing). A very interesting topic for a retrospective. I felt there were parts where it veered a bit too far from the main focus, but it made me happy to see someone talk about their personal experiences with such a weird little cat man. Brak always makes me smile, and I'm certain he won't be so easily forgotten.

I was a kid watching it in the 90s, and you did have to be there. There was nothing like it. And I was really wondering how they went about the production, because it seemed so organic and live even though it couldn't be. It had to be scripted but it still felt like improv.

Honestly, my favrite seasons of Space Ghost Coast to Coast were all the pre-Adult Swim era ones. Hell, the 1997 episodes were the ones I got into and are my faves. :)

The first time I watched the Brak show I felt like someone scanned my brain and created a show specifically tailored for my sense of humor. To this day there’s never been anything truly funnier.

I remember there were cross references between Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planet. There was a bit on CP where Brak sang a song about loving beans. Then on SGCTC, there was a bit where Space Ghost was stuck outside the airlock, and he tried to get Brak to let him back in by offering beans. 12 year old me thought this was high comedy. 😂

16:28 The Aqua Teen Space Ghost episode was pitched back in the '90s, but the Aqua Teens themselves were written out of it and the idea was reworked into the episode Kentucky Nightmare, where instead of fast food mascots invading the set it was a shark serving as a liquor store mascot. The writers reworked the Aqua Teen characters into their own show, which came out in 2001. Only after Aqua Teen Hunger Force was a successful show did they go back and make the Space Ghost episode as originally intended, in 2003. They sort of gaslit the world into thinking the Space Ghost episode came first, as a joke.

aqua teen hunger force was supposed to be a spinoff, but they got their show before the planned appearance on Space Ghost.

Great video! Just a small correction, the Aqua Teens didn't actually appear on Coast to Coast first (although it is still technically a spinoff of it). They were going to, but the episode ended up being rewritten into Kentucky Nightmare instead because they felt it focused too much on the Aqua Teens (that's why both episodes use the same Willie Nelson footage). After Aqua Teen Hunger Force took off, the show's creators actually went back and made Baffler Meal as they originally intended, and then aired on New Year's Eve in 2003. It was basically a "what if" sort of deal.

You were scared of Brak?? That's even worse than me, I was scared of Thomas the Tank Engine. At least mine made some sense, a steam locomotive derailling and demolishing a barbershop full of people IS pretty horrific.

When he brought up 2 Stupid Dogs, I thought, "I had a brilliant time watching that!" It left me wide open for the punch in the gut that was the punchline. Oof. 😢

Cause i remember being disappointed about Cartoon Planet not being on there, deciding I actually wanted to watch Space Ghost Coast 2 Coast, and then finding out that was removed from Max.
