David Barrett. Hi Jimmy, Your layout is about the same dimensions, I will be using some of your ideas. One of the major problems here in Australia is getting that great pink foam, love your channel.
See with N scale you can easily get a lot in a small space. And if you ever get to have a bigger space for your layout, sticking with N scale gives you more train. For example, Jimmy's layout there would take up 18ft by 12ft with at least a 36" depth if it was copied into HO. Where as if you had the same space and stayed with N scale, he could double his track, even build his layout twice and put them together.
It has really come together nicely. It has been great to be with you on your journey. You have learned a lot and have selflessly shared with all of us.
Jimmy Im want too order many iitem in your esty store but cant find how to use it many be good time too do this on end or before to show us how to use it thank you Bob by the way i like alll of you program and would like subscribe to all let me known how
Jimmy, you knocked it out of the park--- definitely a home run. The layout show pure imagination and hard work plus love of the area your modeling. Thanks for sharing your vision.
Is there a certain reason you place signals alongside the middle of a turnout rather than before it? ...and what are you plans for the signals (automation, etc.) Love your channel
Good video. In your chemical plant you may want to make your pipe rack taller and the pipe line on sleepers a bit lower. You may want to put some source of heat for your distillation column (either a steam boiler or a fired heater. Looks good.
My minimum radius is 11 inches or Kato's 282mm. The outer curves are 12.5 inch or 315mm. The mountain is a mix of several radii in order to make the turn match.
I love this layout because it also leaves open the ability to expand if the option arrives. One of the hardest things to me is designing a small layout that leaves that option. Thanks for sharing this!
kinda sad all the models in my country are h0, no N layout...also my club which im a founding member is working in h0...so its clear ill go with h0...been doing it for over 15 years now.
Jimmy, a great video. Looks like your layout could have been build using the TOMA concept with the yard and three industries done initially and then expanding to West Valley.
That is fabulous. What a great hobby. I love the 2' by 4' build you did earlier. Thanks for doing these videos. I was gifted an American Flyer set at age 3 for Christmas. When I saw it my dad was on the floor by the Christmas driving it around. I was so overwhelmed I started to run back to my bedroom. I didn't make it back to my room. One of the best gifts ever. By the time I was 10 it had seized up (carpet fuzz?). I couldn't find anyone who knew how to fix it and my dad was gone a lot. I had no idea what to do. Best wishes to all.
Hi ; nice layout on a small area ! ; I ' m just beginning a small layout ; 98,4 " x 23,6 " ; inspired by the shores of Lake Superior ( or so ! ) ; Revell tracks ( Arnold Rapido here in Brittany ; I began to use them in december 1970 ) ; the layout consist of a very simple 0 from left to right but the front track is moved to the back at elevation 2"1/2 to overpass by a 15" lumber tressle bridge on the right and on the left side through a tunnel to hide the tight curves . ( a kind of false 8 ) More is 2 x 2 tracks at the harbour ; one tiny station on the left with one track for re-coaling the steamers ; one tiny station on the right with an over pass track . All simply old fashion DC 12 volts ( mainly 6 to 9 V ). One hidden track will pass behind the hills with an hidden ( semi destroyed ) turntable for the steam locomotives and few tracks as a depot ( two USRA 2-6-6-2 ; one 4-6-2 N P and one 0-6-0 saddle tank ) The diesel's are FA2 & FB2 ; PA ; and a bunch of RSD15 ( one I have repainted and labelled "Squaw Creek" ! ) That's all . Have a nice day
Thanks for sharing this video and information. I really enjoyed watching the scenery details. As I currently planning N and Z scale modules & or mini layouts. Of course layout planning is ever evolving & never finished ! ! Recently I acquired a 3D printer & learning to use various CAD S/W.
A very nice video and layout. I have plans to expand my own HO scale Unitrack layout, though as I'll be modeling a 1940s-50s steam-era mountain railroad town, I don't think it will look quite as modern as yours.
A great layout you made there. My layout is also Kato unitrack on the first level. I plan to add the second level later. At the Present my tracks are double track & I rotate my trains & locomotives. My next phase will be a barrier strip & more feeder wires & double track cross overs and a staging yard.
