in the dance section, I could swear I could hear parts of Benny Goodmans "Sing, Sing, Sing" interpolated. It was also thrilling the natural vocal sounds of the singers compared the electronic body mike crap. There is something about over head mikes that force people to create thrilling sounds with their voices, and when they wear body or face mikes they lose the electric excitement their voices can create when they are forced to carry their natural sounds.
omg! where did you get this video? I was the intern to the music director at north shore music theatre for this production! Wish I could watch more, this cast was so good and SO nice! Also, the music director, Anne, was a piano MONSTER and BEAST of a musician.
+Falean I think it's sorta stuck up to act like you know everything about musical theatre. Criticizing is ok, but not commenters, just to the video. :) Dont take this the wrong way ok
@Falean Wow. That's kind of conceited. I just finished doing this play myself recently, and our choreography was noting compared to this. This is one of the best renditions of this number I have ever seen, and I don't see how "more difficult footwork" would be much different in the end result. The Audience is happy either way, no matter how complex the dancing is. Isn't that the point of theater?
This is such schmaltz. It's terrible how they sucked the essence of the show (natch; the film), and bastardised it. Please; if you're one of those who 'love' this, DON'T waste your breath and say anything (i.e., I'm a 'hater' - one of the most pathetic things I've ever heard - or really anything. I'm struggling talking how this is designed STRICTLY to appeal to people such as you, mostly vapid people of a certain age/group, who really don't know much other than what they've seen in film, and/or in school). Who's 'Eric Ullman' (but Tracy's brother...I hope), and WTF's the North Shore Music Theatre?
