11:17 downtown Brooklyn before gentrification. Finding abandon buildings, climbing barbwire filled gates, water on in the park. Summer Joy for a kid back then.
The great Thomas Cambpell. I was amazed when i found out his involvement with skateboarding after embracing his impact on surf and art culture. This is what supreme was before the hypebeast and cherry kid wannabes. Anyone who does not realize the positive aspects in this film immediately should not try, just go back to your vines and snap stories
Felipe Demetrio well of course it did, it showed every board company what skating is. its not supposed to be an insane video full of bangers, years of compiled footage for a 5 minute part. Also, skate parts? why does everyone need there own section in a video? so the guy with the last part can feel like a boss when the guy with the first or mid part is bummed? I wouldnt even consider this OR cherry an actual skate film. A love supreme by thomas campbell is simply an alluring film a piece of contemporary film art if you will. especially for the year 1995 when super film was old world tech and frowned upon in the film making industry. As for cherry though, i feel its just an informative production to remind the society of skateboarders how to have fun and film with your friends but because of the popular skaters involved i feel the message has been misinterpreted especially by the younger crowd (13-18) who now think that they have to dress like Dylan Rieder or Ben Kadow to be good and/or accepted in mid city skate scenes. Its message has been diluted by all the stupid bullshit, aside from skating itself, like the fashion statements, popularity, media etc..
Felipe Demetrio dude thats how detailed you think on shrooms haha holy shit reading that back only stoned now.. i was spot on. but anyways yea i obviously completely agree with you lmao
Living in these times looked sick af, can’t even imagine how good it felt to hear your favorite rapper free styling on stretch and bobbito playing from a big ass boombox while you’re trying to learn how to kick flip or sum shi
Even though I kinda jumped on the hype train in 2016 with Supreme as a “hype” brand, I appreciate what this brand is and how far it’s become. I don’t want to sound like one of those kids that say they’re born in the wrong time, but I wish I could go back to 1996 when Supreme started to get traffic and experience what the brand was back then. And even though I jumped on the hype train, I’ve come out as having a love for skateboarding and fashion. I, as well as many people who knew Supreme for what it was before, hope that the hype dies and that supreme can return to a low key skate company again.
It won't for awhile. Supreme was a legit skate shop back then where skaters would hang around and practice their tricks. Bogos were easy to cop, and the line was definitely not long. Nowadays, supreme is a corporation, and the days of when it was a underground company along with Spitfire, Independent, Thrasher, Transworld, etc. are gone. I still respect it for its core of skating and how they released "cherry" and all that, but it's never the same anymore after the hypebeasts took over it. Kudos to you for respecting the skate culture, as the reason why the bogos back then were good quality because of how skating isn't all about kickflips and ollies, but rather the sweat, blood, sprains, time, and most importantly, love put behind everything in the skate world.
Blind Video Days vibes all around. Just goes to show how impactful that video was and has been. Also, Stereo's A Visual Sound. Kids these days think it's all new and don't realize how far back Supreme goes...
@@kazyyss Yeah that one for sure. They came out of left field with that. Totally ahead of their time. Just look at all the current brands. Most of the are definitely either paying homage to or straight ripping off AWS from the 90s.
Fun fact, the girl with the orange shorts in Kids (1995) , the one sitting on Justin Pierce's lap when Telly is calling Darcy down, real name Michelle Lockwood was director of photography for this video, it's her only credit besides kids. She clearly had a lot of creative talent but she didn't do anything after, a real shame.
If it wasn't for skateboarding there would be no Supreme, Diamond, HUF and loads of other brands that in the recent years have become more and more popular.
Nah you let it ruin it for you. Ignore the hypebeasts. I fucking hate how there's little left for skating but it's there's fam trust me its there. Supreme wasn't just a collectable piece of clothing like it is now just gotta ignore that shit sadly
Why'd you have to go Justin? Didn't even know you, but It sure damn feels like you were a brother to me. Till the end of days. God have mercy on your soul.
6:24 that's crazy too see SUPREME put that in a movie, sucks too see them move away from this type of branding and such before any of the hypebeast stuff
The Paul Bley Synthesizer Show - Parks. Released back in the 70s on Milestone Records, pretty obscure and rare record now. Whoever done this intro, he was really known much about jazz music.

Too artsy for my liking.and there wasn't really any real skate clips... So I'm guessing this was a film that was played constantly in their stores or something...like a shop reel?
